You sure can. You lose access to cloud saves and wouldn’t be able to host or connect to other players but that’s it!

Not really. All the gameplay arises from the choices you make. The only real goal as such is defeating the Elders in each biome. It’s why you were sent to Valheim instead of Valhalla.

@@athacusgaming thank you. Nightingale is in my wishlist, how do you like it? I tried Enshrouded but couldn’t get past one of the first quests without constantly dying, so eventually gave up.

I also have a review of my time with Enshrouded. I like both games a lot but they are very different experiences.

It was in the works actually! The trouble was that I got sidetracked by the plethora of amazing Warhammer content and other survival game content they dropped this year. It’s been like a buffet of gamer bliss. I’m hopeful to swing back into Valheim in 2025.

I can't imagine ever playing Valheim again without mods. The game needs them to take the sting out of things like crafting from boxes.

I'm new to Valheim. Could you recommend some must-have mods for complete beginners?

@themrlace there are lots that might suit your needs. Have a look at Thunderstore and see. The one that I most recommend is azucrafty boxes. It allows you to craft using materials you have in your boxes rather than constantly having to shuttle back and forth.

Any time is the right time for Valheim! Deep North and 1.0 is on the horizon too. I'll be dropping back in sometime in the coming months to get ready.

It’s a very different feel than Conan but I think you’ll like it. The gameplay loop is satisfying and the feeling of building a stronghold is memorable.

I can't recommend it enough. It's very forgiving even to new players on starting two difficulties and it REALLY nails the Warhammer 40k vibe. Every movement feels impactful and responsive. Just be aware, that Warhammer 40k is a VERY GrimDark setting. It's not going to be to everyone's taste. If what you have seen intrigues you however, I encourage you to try it out. I am also more than happy to recommend games from both this setting and the fantasy setting that would be good to try too.

G-Portal in Korea for both Valheim and Enshrouded was atrocious. It made it well worth making a FrankenPC to serve as a dedicated server. Not the first time random parts from my just-in-case drawer have saved me.

I hadn’t considered that using EA as a shorthand like that would put people in mind of They Whose Name Must Not Be Spoken. I’ll have to go through my titles and update them. Thanks!

@@athacusgaming it does indeed. Right now I'm keeping it on cooldown to prevent burnout. Also, I'm not going to start a new world for bog witch etc. But I will start fresh on 1.0. But the Valheim vids pull me in anyway. It feels a bit like home.

@@sneezyfido We are in agreement there too. Valheim is a place you can drop in and feel like you belong...once you settle the local wildlife down a little at least.

You are the second person now to connect me to Steve Blum like that so I decided to go back and listen to his voice again. I then discovered he does the voice for a character called Heatwave insomething my kids love, Rescuebots. Now, I swear I have NEVER listened to him do Heatwave's voice and yet HE USES THE EXACT SAME VOICE I DO FOR HIM! We have one of the Rescuebots books and we literally both do the voice the same way! I was mindblown.

Do you think it will work well on iPhone when it eventually comes out?

This is something that's actually worth discussing. Time in Valheim is really malleable feeling. There is so much going on and the world you're on really feels like a living, breathing place that still exists when you're present.

The lack of structural integrity is a really fun aspect. I would love to see your final product. I’m about to revisit the game myself for the update. I like Enshrouded as much as Valheim since they have very different atmospheres so they’re refreshing to play in contrast. I strongly prefer the building in Enshrouded. It has a cozier feel to it and the building editor feels more precise to use.

I’m so happy you enjoyed it! I played it after the last major update and it still holds up. You could also sub in the 2h pickaxe we have access to and it will work just fine but I prefer the Mark XIX shovel personally.
