Home setup for best Wifi Mesh speed at home
In this video, I'll share my experience testing router mode and access point mode to achieve the best WiFi mesh setup at home, focusing on speed and low latency.
Setting up a mesh wifi needs time and best location within the house. I tried a lot of different combinations in this video which could help you understand what all it takes to get the most optimal solution
I have other videos as well where you can understand how to hardwire mesh wifi and also what is the difference between Router mode and Access point mode

Hi, I’m in a 3 story condo. My modem/router is connected (via Ethernet) to my main deco on the first floor. The second deco is on the 2nd floor and my third deco is on 3rd floor. What is the best set up? Ap or router mode? I cannot connect decos 2 and 3 via Ethernet
I would prefer router mode if your isp router and main deco are placed together Ap mode would make sense if your main deco is far away from isp router and AP mode enables you to use both If they are close router mode would avoid interference. I would also suggest stoping isp router wifi
Hi Jay, thank you for this video. I have a firewall and was connecting my deco's through the firewall, which was also handing out IPs. Because of your video I was able to understand how Deco uses Bridge mode.
Just used your video to fix my stove - didn't know you could remove those two screws to lift the top plate to access the gas nut. Huge help, thanks!
Glad it helped
This was the perfect video to explain how this works. No bs, no lengthy explanation or any fluff. Go here do this, they’ll do the rest. Fantastic video and thank you very much!
Glad it helped
I've got a modem central with router functionality. I have 3 lan kabels to all the areas where i would need an acces point. I have 3 Deco's. Couldn't tell if i would be able to connect all the Deco's via the lan cable to the router and use them as AP's and the router as central wifi point. As i look at your video's in AP mode the Deco's need to be connected to each other via wifi of cable and not via the main modem/router. Am i correct? thanks!
It’s actually not that complicated. My router cable goes into a switch from where 3 cables go to each of the DECO points Then in app I selected AP mode and one of the points to be the mai deco Thats it
@@Canada_Facts Yes i did this setup a month ago (Provider modem/router 1 long cable underneath the garden, 1 switch upstairs with 2 cables). The provider modem/router functions as both and the Deco's as AP's. Was worth the try and seem to work perfect! Thanks for your reply.
i was called for an interview through phone call and they asked me when i can come for the meeting so im guessing its not a group one because they would want everyone to come at the same time, right?
It could be different for sure depending on position and walmart location
Bro i need resume for wallmart
Just put in your customer rep experience
Hello friend, I am trying to resolve a double NAT issue and was wondering if just converting to AP mode and then having my device connected to the Deco resolves that or if the mode is irrelevant and I need to change a setting on my router itself?
Wtf are u saying
couldn’t understand one word
Enjoyed your video thanks for sharing. I have my home and then 2 buildings next to my home and both are connected to my home by 2 ethernet cables each. Would my best option be to run all in AP mode and daisy chain them together? I would like my home and 2 buildings all to be on the same network. I also have two switches in my home to control other wired devices. Would the Deco just plug into the first switch? Hope your channel continues to grow you explain things very well!
thanks bro for this video, i have big house with three deco connecting to the rogers modem.. main deco is just next to the rogers modem and rest others are at separate floor and I have converted into AP mode and Bridge mode is disable in rogers modem.. Issue is very frequent drop off.. any idea what shall I do.. thanks in advance
WHAT !!🙄😱😲😳
U have to pass the ethernet from main deco to other deco only then it will recognize ethernet. U cannot pass it from modem direct
I don’t think that is necessary, my current setup is all decos connected from a switch I would suggest trying that and seeing
Hi Jay, why put the decoders in AP mode and not mesh? You can configure the main one as AP and from then on all of them as mesh to create a mesh network, wouldn't the network be more fluid?

I have a x50 mesh system, do I have to TURN OFF WiFi modem ? It is necessary because I haven’t turned off the WiFi ! Thank you guys
I don’t think you need to turn off the wifi modem In case it causes interference and lowers speed you can try doing that All the best
Thank-you, Jay!
Hey, really liked the video🙌! I'm not really sure if it is the best time to ask but, I was wondering if I could help you create a better distribution by working on post-production like better storytelling through Edits, Keywords, think catchy intros and outros, or even some engaging short clips! Would love to chat if you're interested.
which switch did you used ? can i have the model
What language is this?
Do all deco models can perform as router mode? I have an old deco but seems like only can work as AP mode instead of router
Usually they have the router mode option
Is your Deco in router or access point mode? Does it have its own SSID?
Access point Same ssid as main internet
@@Canada_Facts thanks. Great video. I am trying to do the same. I read somewhere that Deco has to have its own SSID. Guess not true. What router do you have?
Assuming the SSID comes from the non-Deco router?

Can I use any type of gigabit ethernet switch? Is there something i need to watch out for?
Try to use unmanaged. Also I kept it same as the wifi mesh company
The video that we needed! Thank you! Is it possible to use a POE switch to power the nodes/ satellite routers
Hi What is the speed Deco support for LAN connection? Does it support 1G?
Cat 5e and above yes, testing speed would be around 600mbps because of device limitations
@@Canada_Facts thank u
so if i do access point mode we will connect to the router's wifi? there will be no "main deco" ssid? i want my devices to connect to the router but after doing router mode the router has no internet anymore
Use access point and rename ssid to main router ssid
Hi Jay, I set up my Deco M4s exactly like yours. But I only get max speed with the main Deco, half speed with the after-switched nodes. I use Cat5e cables and a 1Gp switch; my Deco is in Router mode.
This video is incredible thks bro
Doesn’t seem like your sick. Talking too much
Thanks for this. Is there any reasons that connecting one of the Decos to a 2nd unmanaged gigabit switch wouldn’t work? (ISP/ONT->Deco1->switch1->switch2-Deco2). I’m troubleshooting and can’t get it to connect via Ethernet for wired backhaul. TIA.
Thank you. So basically since my ISP modem broadcasts WiFi and I have a small place where the deco will be close to the modem, I should use router mode for seamless roaming.
I'm glad you did this. Thanks.
hi, did u need to set up the switch, as in changing the settings of the ports ure using on the switch? and, does all three routers uses same SSID? and for the other two routers, did u have to "set it up"? or is it just like plug n play?
Why is bro up there
Paaji apko kabhi aesa koi issue hua hai jha apke order se kuch items missing ho?
Yes You can call and get it resolved
Paaji yah konsa App Use Kar Rhe ho G
Does anyone knows whether d same pattern is followed currently? Am just applied
Hii Walmart do employees background check or not?
Very helpful, thank you!
Can u tell how we can know the mesh backhaul rssi
Thanks
The main thing is what is the lag in milli seconds for the device to switch between these nodes when you move around in two modes. That is missing in this review. Did you run the AP mode speed test after the swith or before the switch?
Superb description, thank you so much. I’ve been struggling with this question for a while! 🎉
Hello everyone sorry I don't Clair English, thy will give me jobs?
This was very useful. Thanks
Hi applied for 6 days before but they can't reply or interview what to do ? And how many days i will wait for
If youre having problems with router mode, then going to AP brings into question the quality of the router. The router quality isnt a problem in deco router mode because its only acting as a modem to the deco, which is basic functionality for even the cheapest routers. If you're router is high quality and can handle 64+ devices then having the Deco's in AP mode, shouldnt reduce speeds. Be sure to TURN OFF wifi on the main router in BOTH modes and run a LAN cable to the first deco. If wifi is left on in AP passthrough and Access point mode, then you may get interference.
Thanks for the video, very informative 👍my question is if I keep my old router(modem) and the 3 decos as APs will I have access for of all the Deco features (like guest wifi, devices connected, parental control...)? On the other hand if I set one deco as the router does it have firewall(as my old router)? 🤔 I was wondering on security features. However this system seems very good.
