    I was a trucker for 5 years. I started at 21. Now I’m 26 & left the industry. Currently a cop. When I was young I like it. I got to see the country & got paid for it. But Long term you wasting your life away. You don’t have time to exercise & socialize. You’re always alone with strangers. You gain weight & your mental health gets worse. After you see the country. The excitement is gone. It’s just a paycheck. Now I’m 26 a cop… I have a six pack & a beautiful girlfriend. I have colleagues & friends. Go out on the weekends. Go to church. Go to the gym everyday. Eat what I want. I have a life. I have freedom. I love my 9 to 5. Sleeping at home & no longer feel like I’m throwing my life away.

    Well I left that nonsense last year, new career start and no regrets. IMO its not just a down or up market one has to deal with but also the increased over regulation (tell me Im not wrong?!....cab cameras, speed limiters in the works etc.. Ok and lets not forget the price of truck ownership! Increased computerized tech in trucks means more time at the dealer or qualified mechanic. Older trucks if you can't do most of the work yourself then find a good mechanic that is available, fair rate etc. Downtime cost$$.Increased traffic, more road ragers! If you put up a list of cons vs pros of owning your rig or just trucking in general it would be a lie to say the pros outweigh the cons. Trucking these days IMO is a great thing to do for the younger crowd wanting to try something new for a while but as a long term career? Noooooo

    Im gonna add 1 that might upset people, financial success in trucking isn’t for everyone, the main reason I got into trucking is because free cost of living, in life you have to identify the problems and get creative and find a solution, todays cost of living is holding people back so I said I can live in a truck and make very good money at the same time that means I could save 80% of my paychecks rather than it all making someone else rich paying bills, so if you have family and people depending on you trucking is gonna feel like any other job except you’ll never be home so think about this

    Hey Tyler, great video and very informative. Thanks! I had a question about the Walmart dedicated out of Cheyene. I've watched some of your other videos about it, and I've also looked at the Crete website. Do drivers get paid a higher rate per mile while helping out on the Walmart dedicated even if they are just helping out? And also a higher pay for weekend work? Do you know more about that? And can drivers that are 48 state OTR, can they request to stay on that Walmart dedicated for like a whole month if they want that higher pay? And do you think it's worth it?

    Very good advice. And I appreciate how you always have a positive attitude. I have a few questions I was wondering about. When you were a company driver for Crete, did you get a lot of northeast runs? Because I saw another TH-camr who said he's worked for Crete for 7 years, and he said one of the things he doesn't like about Crete is that they have a lot of northeast runs. So I was just curious about what your experience has been with that? Also, I was wondering if you have a preference as far as taking a 70 hour reset, or running on recap hours if you have them? Another Crete driver I saw on TH-cam said he prefers to do 70 hour resets every week, and he said he still gets 3000+ miles a week. Thanks!

    • @TheLivingFreedChannel
      @TheLivingFreedChannel 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You will run all over the country if you’re all 48 OTR. However sometimes if you get sent to the northeast you can end up in that area for a while cause there’s so much freight out there for Crete. As far as doing a reset or running recaps I prefer to run recaps but if I can get a reset that doesn’t affect my productivity then I’ll do a reset for a fresh clock. Either way you can hit 3000 miles per week
