      Spider plants roots have the ability to turn hard if exposed, which enables you to bonsai it if basically repotted every 2 months but slowly taking it out, there's different ways of styling it and achieving different or similar looks

    Great video, don’t get the other comments, I take my salvias out of their pots each year and cut away 1/3rd of the roots then repot it into the same pot with fresh compost, otherwise they get rootbound and not flower good, anyway I got one of these spruce trees and just repotted into a larger pot, the only problem is that one side of the tree is bare and the other side looks amazing with all new lighter green growth, should I turn the pot so the bare side gets the sun and may grow better?

    Ginseng ficus are made of 2 varieties of ficus microcarpa, the rootstock is from a fast growing variety with thick roots and larger leaves, the grafted top part is a variety with smaller and rounder leaves …. That’s why it’s important to remove branches which start growing from under the graft point, because otherwise they may weaken the grafted top part of the tree …. 👍

    Thanks for sharing. If you see green when you gently scrape the bark with fingernails than it is still alive and will push new growth. How do you propagate the cuttings? Been searching for that a long time but cannot find the answer. Appreciate if you could help. Thanks again bro

    • @urban_balcony
      @urban_balcony ปีที่แล้ว

      There are still some green under the bark but no sign of life so far. I usually let the cuttings dry off for an hour or two before putting them in a jar with water. They should start to create roots within a few weeks.

    Then the planter has to be placed in a sheltered location (no winds.. just mild breeze). With no wires to anchor those root balls to the planter, the plants would be uprooted. I wonder how often you'd have to repot this. Too many root balls competing with each other.

    • @urban_balcony
      @urban_balcony 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is true. It never gets real windy on my balcony so I don't need to wire them in. So far, all of the plants are looking healthy and I do not plan on repotting them this year but I'll do a quick update video on them sometime soon.

    i've never seen anyone pot up a plant the way you did it, very neat and tidy is there a benefit to using the plastic netting, like intentional root pruning during potting? for me i would rather lose a little loose material out of the bottom than have to untangle it from the plant roots.

    • @urban_balcony
      @urban_balcony 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right, using the netting really only makes sense if you have a very loose, porous soil, and in this case, I should have just compacted the soil in the bottom of the pot instead of using the netting.
