I recommend it it’s a fun project! However information on the Pac drive (board that sends led outputs) is scarce and the Ultimarc website that sells them literally has an incorrect wiring diagram for 12V buttons (ones I use here) so it was a tad bit frustrating trying to get it working at first lol 😅 If you have any questions about it feel free to ask

@@spyghetti thanks man appreciate it! I’m gonna try and make two more to get a 3 player setup going so I’ll keep posting updates for it when I get the time. As for the buttons they’re EG Starts 60mm dome arcade buttons with LEDs in them that I got off Amazon

Did you try using LEDBlinky to see if your computer detects it? I would try that first before moving onto mamehooker. I wouldn’t look at the mamehooker debug window for seeing if it “detects it” as my mamehooker never shows any supported devices there but still works fine. If LEDBlinky detects the Pac Drive then it should work with mamehooker no problem. If your trying to get led outputs from games with led buttons I would try running some code like “uls 1 1 %s%” for something like a start button output - but make sure your mame is first setup to properly detect game outputs before trying that. LEDBlinky also has a simple LED test you can use to easily check if your buttons/lights are connected to your Pac Drive I’d try that first.

@@Leo-oh7cv if you google “Bandai namco point blank gun” it should be the first link - it’s about 375$ usd. However be aware this is just the gun assembly originally meant for arcade cabinets - you’ll still have to mod the guns yourself. RPEGelectronics sells them pre-modded at 900 a pop so it’s up to you whether you want to invest time into learning how to solder and find out all the things you need to put the gun together from the Gun4IR discord or to splurge and buy it pre modded instead

@@kmika7e7 hmm… I don’t have any of the retro shooter guns but if they can be detected as a gamepad/joystick then it should work. Gun4IR has the ability to switch between mouse/keyboard mode for emulators that use the mouse as a crosshair and joystick mode for emulators that don’t. This fork of Pcsx2 only works if the guns are in joystick mode - you can tell if they’re in joystick mode if the guns don’t control the mouse cursor when pointed at the screen The split screen is actually pretty accurate for what it is, the problem is getting it setup is a total nightmare. You have to bind the movement of the crosshair in the settings for up down left right and it can be super finicky and confusing as to whether you did it right or not. Then you have to calibrate BOTH guns on the gun2 calibration screen before you start the game and make sure to use the calibration shot instead of the normal shot which needs to be binded to a separate button from your trigger to make the game work properly. After that you need to create a save state to load into the main menu so that you don’t have to keep calibrating the guns everytime you start up the emulator - THEN you need to go to 2 player and choose co-op slot screen mode to finally start the game. As much fun as I had trying out the split screen mode with my uncle it’s hard to recommend anyone try it because not only is it hard getting setup but it still has its problems - While the recoil for guns is synced up like in the arcade this isn’t true for the machine gun sections where there is no machine gun recoil - Even on a 55 inch tv (one I used in the video) the viewing area for each player is still really small and can make it hard to react to a lot of stuff. This isn’t so bad in the first stage but by the second stage enemies start shooting you from much further away and start shooting a lot more damage shots where it’s next to impossible to see them due to the smaller screen resolution each player has

@@thatonegamer2709 This Gun is modded with Gun4IR which works by having 4 ir sensors on each side of the TV to track where the guns pointed. It only works with pc at the moment so I play the games through an emulator

@@joelgutheil4292 first you’ll have to the calibration screen no matter what your playing it on (if you have 2 guns for 2 players you’ll have to do it twice) then once you get past it you can create a save state and then just load it anytime you play the game which is what I did (I’m playing this on an emulator on pc so not original hardware)

@ thanks, same here on PCSX2. Just figured the save state thing! Is there a way to auto load the save state so don’t have to do it manually each time?

@ as far as I can tell I don’t think so as I haven’t been able to find an option for it, but I may be wrong about it as I haven’t used Pcsx2 that long. I usually just hotkey the load state command to something simple like “L” for load so I don’t forget to press it before I play the game :)

Create a new folder named “timecrs4” and drag n drop the chd into there (should be around 1.8 GBs) then make sure you have timecrs4.zip (should be around 3.4 mb) outside of that folder (in the arcaderoms folder but not in the timecrs4 folder you just created for the chd) and see if it works now. Also make sure you have the right chd mine is called “tsf1-ha.chd”

Nice! Yeah even with the slowdowns it was still fun playing from beginning to end - however I’m probably gonna gonna hold off on playing it again until it’s running full speed

Same here. I finish on 1cc with 5.2million on 1P Side/Giorgio in score run despite the slow speed on the emulator

It should be the Dpad right key in the controller manager - by default it’s binded to the right arrow key I think. You’ll have to hold it down while aiming either left or right - I recommend binding it to something like the space bar or right mouse button if your using a mouse to play

@@Ty_VoIt probably has to do with how fast your computer is. I ran this game on a Pc that has a max base clock speed of 4.8 GHz so if your computer could go higher than 5 GHz it’ll play a lot smoother. I could have tried overclocking to get slightly better performance but I’ve never done it before and didn’t want to risk hurting my Pc

Are you using play ver. 0.67? It might be a performance thing cause the pc I’m running this on has a max clock speed of 5.8 ghz so it’s a pretty beefy setup. I tried running it on a different pc that could be boosted up to 4.8 ghz and I’d still only be averaging around 30-35 fps so it could just be the emulator needs more optimization done. I also recommend using Vulkan for the GS Handler as certain graphics won’t display if you use OpenGL like the enemies crisis flash shots or glass breaking in the opening prologue

Sure thing! Yeah it was pretty interesting when I found out myself. Hopefully they can work on system 23 performance so you don’t need a high end Pc to run the game at full speed

Unfortunately the guy who made the fork of the ps2 emulator couldn’t figure out how to get the machine gun recoil working for Time crisis 2. Thankfully it works well for Time crisis 3 as does the 2 player split screen which is awesome

I ordered 2 time crisis guns from Ray a while back but the pink one in the video is one I modded myself 😃 Unfortunately while I was playing with my family one time this gun and another one of mine overheated and broke so I have to go back and fix it when I get the time. Fun fact - don’t play Gaia Attack 4 for 30 min straight with the recoil on unless you want the gun you spent 2 weeks modding to randomly stop working 😂

@@locomortal9989 Got it off eBay for about 200 which is a pretty good deal. The slide doesnt work super great as a lot of the screws inside have rusted but the trigger still works

@@oliveratom88 yeah the gun originally comes from an arcade cabinet so they can get expensive brand new - clone guns go for around 200-300 and are much cheaper. I got mine cheaper because it was used

I think the gems remove some of the health from the bosses when you fight them :)

It’s called GUN4IR basically it’s a pc compatible lightgun that works by having 4 sensors on your tv/monitor to detect where your shooting

@@jardielnascimento6640 most mame games will send a output but for emulators that don’t send outputs normally such as m2 and flycast (House of the dead 1&2, Virtua Cop, etc) you’ll need to use a program called demulshooter with mamehooker. I recommend joining the Gun4IR discord they’ll be able to help you get it setup properly

@ I recommend watching Brad D’s video on mamehooker as it should give all the info you need to get time crisis outputs. Just an FYI you don’t need demulshooter or an ahk file to get time crisis mamehooker outputs as they should appear as long as mamehooker is connected to your mame.exe it should work. Just make sure that either both the mame.exe and mamehooker program are not run in adminstrator mode or BOTH are run in adminstrator mode otherwise the two programs won’t be able to talk to each other (this is an important detail that Brad D doesn’t mention in his video so just want to spread the word)

@@jardielnascimento6640 oh and one more thing make sure to have your mame outputs sets to “windows” To do this go to your mame.ini file and scroll down to where it says “OSD OUTPUT OPTIONS” and it should say something like outputs - auto. Change it to windows if it isn’t already and make sure to save it. I forget if he mentions this in the video but I always forget to do this when I setup mamehooker on a new pc
