King's Quest 6 - The Genie Shamir Shamazel
มุมมอง 42828 วันที่ผ่านมา
In King's Quest VI, Shamir Shamazel is Alhazred's genie. Alhazred had Shamir steal each of the island's most valued treasure, then blamed the thefts on others to cause the islands to hate each other. Shamir is a shape shifter and used that ability to try to trick Alexander into killing himself as well as spying on Alexander. Shamir isn't necessarily evil. He only reflects his owner's heart for ...

The Sierra Network (TSN), later renamed as the ImagiNation Network (INN) was the vision of Ken Williams, co-founder of Sierra On-Line. When Sierra started TSN in the early 90's, it was ahead of its time and the platform enabled real-time interactions and gameplay among users across different locations.

Space Quest 4 - Showing Max Score Exceeded
Wait was that leisure suit Larry? 😂
Man, i miss those games.
Man this is fucking badass. I give high praise to anyone who did the work on this. I always said this game was a step backwards from SQ4 due to the lack of voice over work but this makes it a whole hell of a lot better.
Oh my god. I miss that majestic Sierra opening sequence.
The Sierra story is pretty sad. Sierra could have become the biggest player in the computer games market, but they made three big mistakes: 1) Going public to become a stock corporation. There is no need for that. Look at Valve. It does just fine without going public. When you go public, you lose control of your company because now you have to satisfy the demands of your shareholders, who only care about one thing: more profit. 2) Believe the lie that even if you sell your company, you can stay CEO and keep control of the company. Ken Williams fell for this scam. He was told that even if he sold his shares, he would still remain CEO and control everything, which of course wasn't the case, because while he remained CEO, the new owners were basically telling him how to run the company in their best interest. And while his wife was officially still working on Kings Quest 8, she was more or less sent home by the team that completely ruined the game because the new company owners demanded it. 3) Sierra was the game publisher for Half Life and they owned all the IPs for that series. If they had worked more closely with Valve, maybe even bought them, they could be where Valve is today and maybe Sierra would be running Steam today. But they failed to see the potential of HL and the potential of the Source engine. Not even the new owners of Sierra saw it, and in the end Valve would get back all the IP rights to Half-Life so they could release Half-Life 2 all by themselves, which sold 6.5 million copies (not counting Steam sales!) and funded everything else Valve has done since.
3:30 - That rhyme is _amazing._ But, I feel like there was a missed opportunity, here, for the guard to say something like: "Wait, didn't we just let you in?"
they obviously knew it would happen
This seems like this could be an ongoing series. It feels like there is a way to die by water in EVERY Sierra game.
Two more you could add: 1.) Angering Henry the Hermit in Quest for Glory I and getting teleported into the waterfall. 2.) Getting too close to the water elemental in Quest for Glory II.
Don’t forget the Rusalka in Quest for Glory IV!
3:28 how did they warp back to the enterance even tho we saw Alexander’s soul travel down the path?
That ghost wan't Alex, spirits regularly come through the gate, it looks like it's rising from where Alex fell. Funny how Alex had to go back and get another ticket though, you'd think the bouncer would be all "WTF, weren't you just here?!"
🏞
2:28 : Wilhelm scream spotted!!! 😆
Closet mannequin whiffer eh? 🤫😅
Is that… Jim Cummings’ voice for Cliffy?
Note to self...do not delete Space Quest IV while playing Space Quest IV...
I like to think they considered making that action actually delete _Space Quest IV_ for real, but wisely decided how bad of an idea that would be considering how many calls their parent company would get about it.
Space Quest was always a fun adventure romp, But Gary Owens catapulted the series into legendary status
Fuckin' good old days 🫡
Omg i forgot about Sierra! Wow what the nostalgia!
Maybe someone can use AI to fix some of the broken voicing in Quest for Glory 4? “Listen! I’m telling ya Igor is dead!”
Unusually courteous of Roberta to save you from a dead end situation...unless you happen to be silly enough to save after loosing your last gem - maybe someone would think that was progress despite there being no point sound.
What are the titles of the games that appear in this compilation?
00:10 Space Quest IV: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers 01:24 The Colonel's Bequest 01:38 Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness 01:55 Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers 02:18 The Colonel's Bequest 02:42 Space Quest V: Roger Wilco - The Next Mutation 03:20 Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist 03:47 The Colonel's Bequest 04:16 The Dagger of Amon Ra 05:47 Quest for Glory III: Wages of War

Why does the police lieutenant have a German accent?
Wow! Amazing! I love this use for AI. The future is going to be so amazing!
"You pick it up and place it in your purse" *stuffs entire mummy in purse*
4:22 - And there it is. *The* Gary Owens _Space Quest_ quote to rule them all. 👍
I want Gary Owens as the AI voice in my head in the future
What a legend. I picture all the narrator boxes with his voice when I play the older games. One of my favorite lines is when you lick the arcade machines.
The creepy dreams in QFG4 freaked me out far more than the "mundane" scary stuff in that game. They describe the experience of Erana being suspended forever on the verge of death, just outside the world, by the eldritch abomination Avoozl... chilling.
Commodore 64 ? You joking ? You mean IBM PC ?
Sierra, you are dearly missed
So true … miss the good old Sierra adventures … you were able to dive deep into the story … unbelievable atmo!
I like the part at 2:07 when it starts playing "I Don't Like Mondays" by the Boomtown Rats
If i have children, this is the only video game i'm letting them play
I laugh now but as a kid these drove me right off. The "didn't grab the cube" or "traded signet ring too soon" softlocks were way worse though. I've loaded my old collection into ScummVM to allow my children to learn patience and frustration management as I did.
That’s pretty funny! Thanks for sharing!
I would add the first encounter with the druids in KQ6.
KQ3 was the worst for falling to your death.
If you get the magic map without visiting the castle, the conversation with the genie and Alhazred goes differently.
God, that FUCKING CAT in KQ3. And its hitbox felt way too big for the sprite. Most dangerous enemy in the game.
As a cat owner, I can confirm they have an almost magical ability to get under your feet.
I'm surprised they didn't include the King's quest V scene on Mordac's island were you fall about 5 ft to your death.
Its called ‘they missed it’ simple as this!
3:15 🎶135 springs to flush down, 135 spriiiiings!🎵
Oh kings quest
I never heard of Passionate Patty before? 🤔
It's the third Leisure Suit Larry game
Larry & Passionate Patty ❤ How could you miss that?
Childhood PTSD trigger warning 😖
Cartoonish Computer games? 😂 would not meet the PTSD threshold!
3:05 - Rubber tree. Praise Tim Schafer.
King Graham's horrendously over-the-top howl in _King's Quest V_ still gets me every time. I don't know who recorded that sound, but they have the best scream ever!
I once walked off a cliff and a bug caused Graham's scream to loop forever. It was... very upsetting to young me.
Wait. I remember that happening to me, too. Oh, man, is this a known bug? It can't just me us two.
I love this video! The music from the Erana’s Peace is moving and beautiful, and the scenes show the hero developing his skills throughout one of my favourite games (although I mainly played the vga remake, but not only). Thank You for this compilation!
Graham’s death rattle from KQ5 when falling to his death is Sierra’s version of the Wilhelm Scream. I’ve seen it used it bits for other Sierra games as well.

is that a sierra Game? 3:04
It’s one of the Monkey Island games from Lucasarts. They make fun of Sierra’s deaths a bit.
No, Lucas Arts, not sure why he put it in the video.
@@CnCBonkers This Lucasfilm game (Monkey Island) did it as a joke on Sierra.
@@Kivikesku Ah, ok
Of course not … clearly Monkey Island … a little joke addressed to Sierra! I almost wet myself laughing that hard back then! 😂
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 0:17
My cat also loves to get right in front of me on the stairs - luckily I'm not as clumsy as Alexander and haven't died once so far.
Space Quest 3 had me so scared as a kid, I was way too young to see Roger's skin melt and him struggle to survive. And I'm the one that made him fall! 😭 Great art, very effective
Interesting that these were called family entertainment - save for Larry - but it reflects PG movies of the time. Sierra games often scared me hard at age 4-9, with death or the threat of it - added so much to their thrill! It's a healthy way for kids to master fear.
@MagusMarquillin Let's face it, kids went into Space Quest 4, met the Xenon Cyborg, and came back adults 🤣
@@swempytimes If they didn't unplug the computer, crying, and reject technology ever after!
@@MagusMarquillin I wouldn't blame them. That guy scarred me for years. Definitely a good lesson in differentiating between reality and fiction. I learned eventually that the stuff that happens in the game is not real but I was scared to be in dark places thanks to Sierra games 🤣
@@swempytimes It was that graveyard in QfG1 after sundown that scared me witless, just walking near it and a spook is flying toward me (didn't know for many years those ones were harmless) or telling a certain hut up on chicken legs that I intend to visit. 😰
