    I am very intrigued by this setup. Can you record the stream via the ATEMMini Pro while seeing the multi view on the Osee?

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would be able to record only what was going through the ATEM mini pro the way I am setup. My ATEM is being used as the #1 input into the GoStream Deck. But you can record everything that you are getting in the program view on the Deck to the built in SD card, while using the USB-C slots as a webcam which you could not do with the ATEM Mini Pro. There is also software control with the latest firmware and software update. That is a super upgrade that now allows me to control both the GoStream Deck and the ATEM Mini via their own software controls instead of the menu.

    • @blajoyce
      @blajoyce 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for responding. I am looking at this setup as a possible solution for churches that have asked me to assist with live-streaming a special event. I already had the ATEM Mini Pro so I wanted to find a way to still use it along with the Gostream. If it is not too much to ask, would you share again how the ATEM and Gostream are connected, please? Do you have the HDMI out from the Atem going into input 1 of the Gosee? Also, how are you bringing in your computer? Thanks so much for your help.

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I am using the HDMI out as a program out not multiview. This then is going into the camera 1 input on the Gostream deck. But unless you have 4k cameras I would not even use the ATEM. And with the new upgraded software the OSEE is even more a low cost version of the ATEM Mini Extreme. If you use 1080p cameras, you are better off just using the Gostream. You can livestream with it using wired network or your cell phone using it as a tehter off the USB-C, it has 2 HDMI outs, so you can use one for Multiview and the other for Program view if you want. In our church we that program view runs to the cry room. Osee now gives you software control just like the ATEMs, so what you have for a lot less is Supersource, although not as much as the Extreme, 2 HDMI outs, 2 audio inputs and 2 USB-C ports, as well as a headset monitor port. You also now have more audio mixing control. And all of this for 1/3 the price of the ATEM Mini Extreme. WE will keep our extreme at our church it is super nice but if you are thinking of upgrading to the extreme and aren't using all the supersource capabilities, or wanting to use 4K camera inputs then the GoStream may be for you. Especially now after the 2.0 firmware upgrade and control software. But, it is not as well supported if you think you will need support from the manufacturer.

    Hey all! I recently got the deck and after successfully connecting my sony fx3 to the osee deck via an HDMI cable the first time around, now it doesn't register on the switcher. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if so, what's the solve was?

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My guess is that the first time you connected the FX3 you were in 1080p mode and after that you may have been in 4K. the GoStream deck has to have everything in 1080 which is why I am using the ATEM Mini with the 4K Obsbot mini webcam since the ATEM is very easy going with inputs and accepts whatever you throw at it but converts to 1080P output which the Gostream deck likes. Also go to this Facebook group where all the Osee Gostream deck smart guys hangout. facebook.com/groups/oseegostreamdeck/

    Hmm... audio delay, black lines over the screen. Looks like BM will be better, but missing 2 usbc and hdmi.

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I noticed the black lines too, which are coming from the camcorder only as far as I can tell. I was not seeing the audio delay except when using the iPhone view or GoPro. I will have to pay closer attention to that. But the BM Atem Mini had the same problem when it first came out and firmware upgrades fixed that by giving you the ability to sync audio and video. The GoStream has that same capability but I was running a lot of different inputs so will have to watch that in the future. Second, Unless I get the Mini Extreme I can't use my current Mini Pro as a webcam in a zoom call at the same time I am recording. That is the primary reason I went to the Osee GoStream deck. And I save $700 I can use somewhere else. Like I said we will keep our Mini Extreme at church, it is awesome, but I couldn't afford it at this time.

    Can’t get picture from Avipas ptz camera on atem mini pro. How is yours set up? Did u have the same issue when u set it up?

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The first question I would ask - does your AVIPAS PTZ have HDMI out or SDI or something else. I went with HDMI out because of the HDMI inputs on the ATEM. When we started we had a single camcorder running HDMI to the ATEM mini Pro. Then I added the first PTZ and I went with the AVIPAS AV 1281 HDMI camera for the other side of the church. At that time we used the remote that came with the camera and had presets for different locations, center alter, pulpit, etc. Eventually we sprung for a second 1281 PTZ and the AVIPAS AV-3104IP 4D Joystick PTZ Controller. The controller works through our network and we have presets for both cameras. The ATEM Mini extreme followed and was the perfect upgrade to meet our needs. When setting it all up with the cameras, I initially tested each camera directly to the ATEM so I knew they worked. Then I connected it on the other side of the church using HDMI to Ethernet extenders due to the distance. Then the problems began. I thought it was the extender that was causing the issue. Not so. It turned out I was using cheap HDMI cables at one or both ends of the extension. When I upgraded to much better 4k cables I suddenly had rock steady video coming in from the cameras. The cheap cables work fine from the laptop to the ATEM for PPT but the video inputs needed the better cables to be reliable. Hope that helps. Ken

    Great overview. We recently inherited an ATEM mini-pro Avipas 3104-S & Avipas 1280 PTZ. Got it working, to steam to FB Live.... but with only one PTZ, it is a bit clumsy panning from the altar, back to the choir. The Avipas 3104-Serial has PRESETs, but I can't find detailed instructions on how to configure. I would like to setup a pre-set to point/zoom/pan at the Altar, and another pre-set to point/zoom/pan toward at the choir area. That would be a lot easier then using the joystick. Appreciate any advice/tips. Eventually, we'll have budget $$ for a second PTZ (to replace our second Avipas 1280 that suddenly failed w/ no video out, and doesn't pass self test)

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice that you inherited all of that hardware. I am assuming then that the ATEM Mini Pro has the SDI inputs also since the 1280 has SDI outputs. I went with the HDMI for the simple fact that anything with HDMI outputs like Laptop, camcorder, etc can be used as an input device. You will need some HDMI-SDI converters to connect a laptop or camcorder to it if you want the video. The 3104-S controller is controlling the PTZ camera via serial cable. This is simple but requires a second line separate the SDI cable as far as I know. Can’t help much more than that since I have never used either of those two connections. I can tell you that the AVIPAS support is great, and you can see my questions and answers in the AV1281 chat area. Presets are really great to have and that is what we have set up for both cameras. Combined with very detailed step by step instructions for our volunteers allows me to step away from the booth. Sorry I cannot help you more but go to the AVIPAS website and contact their support. You should also be able to find what you are looking for, especially with the controller, on TH-cam if you search for that controller specifically. Good luck Ken

    Do you have a wiring diagram of your system? That would be very helpful. Where does the IP video get extracted / converted to HDMI? Great video. It's been very helpful

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have a diagram. The ATEM makes inputs pretty easy with the HDMI inputs directly on the back of the ATEM Mini Pro or now we use the ATEM Mini Extreme. The cameras both have HDMI out. The one closest to the AV Booth is direct HDMI from the camera to the ATEM. the other camera across the church is run through an HDMI to Ethernet extender which has a conversion box on each end and HDMI on each end. So also HDMI from the extender receiver to the ATEM. As shown in the video I can also connect anything with HDMI out directly into the ATEM so we being video from a laptop into the ATEM also via HDMI which then acts as another monitor for Power Point for example. Hope that helps.

    Hi, Thank you for sharing your set up, which offers a good learning tool. How do you capture people singing where they have no microphone - is this what the small condensor microphone does too ? Regards, Stuart Mackie.

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill ปีที่แล้ว

      The hardest thing for me is the children's services where they are talking. I can't get them to talk loud enough ever. The condenser mic works really well for capturing the congregation singing. It is the only mic doing that. Also it captures pastor's voice to give the audio the "big room" sound. It has also saved us when his mic battery fails or there is a momentary loss of signal from his cordless mic. I am looking at a stand mic for the choir that will also go through the audio panel but that condenser mic does the trick in our small church for now.

    Nice job. Great System, like the wireless HDMI - what product is that? Would be interested in more details of the wiring setup. For instance, for your main PTZ cameras you have mounted in the church, what brand are they and how long is the HDMI cable run from the camera to the ATEM (or are you using extenders for that?). We have about 125' from where the camera is to where the control are would be, so I am looking at using NDI cameras for that. Unfortunately the ATEMs don't take native NDI and using converters is expensive!

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill ปีที่แล้ว

      Gary thanks for watching the video . This has been a fun challenge, and this is my second video showing mainly the upgrades since the first video. Here is a link to my first video which talks more about the other hardware from the PTZ cameras to the audio in the church. It also has the list of all the hardware in the description. th-cam.com/video/thxdbJbbOkc/w-d-xo.html The PTZ cameras I am using are AVIPAS AV1281 HDMI cameras mounted on either side of the church. One is located directly about the AV booth and the other is across the way and about 75-80 ft of cable. Obviously too long a run for HDMI so I am using HDMI to Ethernet extenders. And they are working very well. Make sure you have good quality HDMI Cables connecting on both ends of the extender. That was an issue for a while. I had the same desire not to go with NDI and all the switchers. HDMI to Ethernet is a lot less expensive. Make sure you sync the audio with the video if they are not coming together. The AVIPAS joystick controller then connects via the church network to each of the cameras for control of the cameras so we don't have to use the handheld remotes. I can even use the PTZ camera audio input to bring audio from the other side of the church without running another cable. just have to remember to use the audio controls for that camera. Hope this helps.

    • @garyl2000
      @garyl2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christmerrill Well, I may be forced to go with NDI because the location I need to mount the cameras do not have ANY power for an HDMI converters or camera power (usually the transmitter location needs power - the camera location in this case). All I have is a CAT 6 cable. Whatever camera I use will only have that cable for everything (power, video, control [PTZ]). The audio is completely separate through microphones. What did you have to do to "sync" the audio (assuming that there will be enough lag that I will need to do that). ? - thanks!

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill ปีที่แล้ว

      Guess I missed your question at the end. Can't help with the NDI issue since I have never used it. Good luck with that. My control of the cameras is through ethernet network and yes I do have power at the cameras for the extenders. Audio sync is done through the ATEM software. The audio sync for Mic1 and Mic2 is in the audio panel in the ATEM Software Control. At the top of the mic channel you have the gain dial and indicator then below that is an arrow pointing to the right. Click on that and a dial pops up for setting the delay. I then recorded myself standing in front of the camera and one of the mics and I clap my hands loudly a couple of times so I can see and here the delay between the sound and the video of the hands connecting. Then adjusted that number and tried again until they were identical. Then did the second mic input if you use 2. Mine are set at 3 and I have perfect sync when listening to the audio in the headset and taking them off. Also the video is perfectly synced. If you use Audio from the HDMI cameras the audio/video is synced for each line. hope that helps.

    Good afternoon Ken, Thank you so much for both of the videos you produced. It just happened that I watched your first video about an hour ago, and subscribed to your channel and found #2. I am the very unskilled a/v producer for my former company's informal and unsponsored retirement club. I was volunteered, since I am good with computers and generally handy, but have NO A/V experience since high school (56 years ago). My club is just getting back into live monthly meetings, but they have also gotten used to Zoom, so I am in the process of trying to put together a fully interactive, hybrid zoom meeting. We have about 900 members total, about 100 attend our in person meetings and 2-3 dozen via zoom. The club is on a very limited budget, but they did give me a total of about $2500. to start. I have put together a very basic set of tools to augment my laptop and other home version equipment, and since we only meet once per month, I have been watching way to many TH-cam videos to self teach. Our former employer gives us a bare auditorium, but no AV equipment, so I'm learning as I go. My biggest issues right now are with the sound system and trying to get everything to work together, including doing a mix-minus setup. Did you ever use hybrid Zoom for your live streams? Once again, thank you for the clear explanation of what you are doing in a similar circumstance. I don't have any HDMI cameras so no ATEM (yet) either, but they are on my wish list. It's budget USB webcams for now. I do have a fairly nice audio mixer, a Behringer 1024 USB to manage our 4 wireless mics. At times I think I need a college degree just to master it. Sorry for rambling, Thank you, Bruce Johnson, Southern California

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill ปีที่แล้ว

      The ramp for the ATEM is just an old piece of 1/4 plywood with a cutout to fit the ATEM and 2 pieces of shelving I used for the monitors and wireless receivers to sit on. I then cut the side boards at about a 30 degree angle and left the back open for the cables to come out behind the ATEM. Dimensions of the plywood top is 10 3/4 wide by 9 high. The inside dimensions for the ATEM MINI or MINI Pro to fit inside, start with about 9 1/8 wide by 3 7/8 high. you may have to sand it a little bigger but by working it like that you will get the best fit so it fits in but the lip of the ATEM has the most wood to sit on. You can also buy a stand already made on ebay.

    Thank you for this video and related content Ken. I am new, volunteering for my church (who is struggling big time with streaming). I know very little about the streaming environment but we have no one else to lead this effort. Your video is very helpful. The pastor and worship leader are familiar with ProPresenter so we have a stake in the ground for that one item :) Two questions: do you use ProPresenter or a like product, and if yes, what do you use for a PC (i.e. cpu, graphics, etc.)? and #2, have you settled on the upgrades you mentioned in the video?

    • @christmerrill
      @christmerrill ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I need to be better at checking this for comments. if you watch any of our more recent service videos you will see us using Picture in picture to add the text while keeping the pastor in the screen. We do this so that the person watching still feels a part of the service. This is also why we use the external/ambient mic. This is being done in PowerPoint at this time as we are not sure if we want to make the huge jump to pro-presenter with their subscription pricing. We added an older Dell laptop that is just doing the PPT slides and then treats the ATEM as the presentation monitor. The volunteer who builds the slides for the each Sunday then adds presenter notes so any of our 3 volunteers working the AV that Sunday knows which slides to turn on and off the PIP. Upgrades have been done and I have not had the time to put together a video than I am willing to post. My full time job is not giving me the time to put it together to my satisfaction. Upgrades include that second PPT laptop, an ATEM Mini Extreme which is the most valuable upgrade giving us 2 USB-C outputs, 2 HDMI outputs and a Headphone output. Those 3 things were crucial upgrades to the ATEM and really improved our livestream. We also add a 3rd laptop as needed for a WebEx Hybrid church voter's meeting and a DVD/BlueRay player since we have the extra inputs with the Extreme.

I’m getting close to figuring it out.

      I have a new video coming out soon. Just recorded it and want to do a little editing first. The fix was getting the ATEM Mini Extreme. The extreme has 2 HDMI outputs one I use for the multiview and the second I use with a splitter to go down to the fellowship hall for use as a cry room or just in case some one isn't feeling well and wants to get away from the others in the pew. ( I actually did that last weekend when I got a coughing attack and had to get out of the sanctuary during the sermon) the other half of the splitter is available to go to the front screens when/if we ever get those installed. The Extreme also has 2 USB-C outputs I use to record to the SSD and also use in Webex during our voters meetings. This allows for those that work weekends (like me) to attend live and vote on church business. Lastly it has a headphone jack to monitor the audio going to the program out. These 3 additions sold me on the higher price and there are several nice features in addition that I am still looking at. Check out one of our live streams to see how our output looks. Thanks for the questions and good luck. Feel free to stay in touch.

    Hi Ken: Thanks for doing this - well put together, and very informative. We (Knox United Church, Parksville, BC) installed a live streaming configuration in March of this year, and we had some of the same considerations that you had - space constraints and integrating an existing audio system. We decided on a configuration which includes 2XPTZ/NDI cameras and OBS software, and this has been working well for us. Cheers. . .

      I started lives streaming using Vmix software (Similar to OBS) but the laptop didn't have the power to deal with multiple inputs and I did not think the volunteers would be able to deal with the software issues if they came up. Going to the ATEM Mini allows up use hardware to stream instead of software. Very easy and easy to teach helpers.

      shortly after this video the extreme came out and we upgraded to the extreme. I did not go with the iso since I don't expect us to edit after the fact. Then we have one of the HDMI outputs for the multicam and the other goes to our fellowship hall for the cry room I hope to do a video on this setup soon.

    Thank you for helping. Are you using the ethernet connection to the computer and then the computer out to the internet or is it connected to a hub?

    • @Lotchik_Fishing
      @Lotchik_Fishing ปีที่แล้ว

      The ATEM is connected to the ethernet switch. This allows the computer to connect to the ATEM via the ethernet for managing the livestream and monitor the audio inputs. The ATEM then connects to our TH-cam channel directly so the computer is not tied up with any of that. Takes the pressure off the laptop and allows for a less powerful system.

      @@Lotchik_Fishing thank you for the reply. I have a problem in that my setup has to be mobile so I connect via a dedicated hotspot through my computer. My question is can I connect to the atem directly through ethernet or ethernet switch and still have functionality by connecting to the internet through the computer?

    • @Lotchik_Fishing

      @@phoenixdragon5154 If you are using OBS or VMix or other software for streaming then use the usb-c output from the ATEM into the computer. OBS/VMix or other streaming software will take this as a webcam input and you are set. When you use the usb-c connection you can also control the ATEM while it is treated as the webcam. You can also use the ethernet hub/switch for control of cameras or use a camera controller etc, and still use the usb-c output as the webcam for your streaming software which then would go through your hotspot. I am not sure if the ATEM can be connected to the hotspot since I have not tried it. I believe that it can but don't quote me on that one.

      @@phoenixdragon5154 we use hotspot for atem because church is in a rural area with no ISP internet. Depends what kind of hotspot you have. If you using a phone hot stop you will have purchase an adapt for your phone that has Ethernet ability on one end and plus in the Ethernet into the atem. Now if you have actual hotspot it should have Ethernet slots on there just put one end of the Ethernet in the hotspot and other in the atem. Hotspot is what we using and hadn’t had an issue so far, but connect everything to a Ethernet Network Switch/Hub. Hope this helps. Good luck.

      Thanks for that input. I heard you can do that with the ATEM but have not needed to try it. I am working a personal project using my ATEM mini pro, and portability will be the key. that may be something I dig deeper into.

    What would be an inexpensive FIXED camera with HDMI out to an ATEM mini Pro for a Drummer ?

    • @Lotchik_Fishing
      @Lotchik_Fishing ปีที่แล้ว

      Find an older GO PRO or small camcorder. As long as they have HDMI out you can set it up. IF you want it for the drummer the GO-Pro as a nice wide angle so I imagine you can have it fairly close and get his movements.

    Additionally, I took a look at your Sunday videos and I noticed you are able to show bible verses alongside your camera feed. Are you using any additional software to do that?

    • @Lotchik_Fishing
      @Lotchik_Fishing ปีที่แล้ว

      We are currently using power point on a second computer for the text. This is coming into the ATEM mini using HDMI into the 4th input. All you need is a laptop with HDMI out and that becomes a second monitor so when you go to slide show it becomes the main view and the presenter view is still on the laptop. This actually allows the person setting up the presentation to leave notes to the Sunday volunteer as to what view and camera to use with the Picture in picture.

      @@Lotchik_Fishing to make you thinks a little easier on that same computer you can use one of the free presenters such as worship extreme, OpenLP, VideoPsalms, etc. we use worship extreme and it does all that for you all you need to do setup a second monitor. We are also not quite ready to need that kind of power. PPT is working well for us since we are using it only with the livestream with the picture in picture feature. I will check out these free presenters. Thank you for the advice.

    .This is great. Thanks for the information. How do the PTZ cameras input into the ATEM mini?

    • @firstenglishlutheranchurch546
      @firstenglishlutheranchurch546 ปีที่แล้ว

      Via HDMI. At our church we use SDI output over RG6 cable then into a Blackmagic SDI to HDMI micro converter. HDMI has a length limit. Under 50 ft. HDMI OK, over that some use an HDMI fiber optic cable that allows 300 ft. SDI over RG6 also good for that 300 ft. RG6 is that cable you often see being wrangled lineside at football games for the camera operator. RG6 is tough and basically bulletproof for signal transmission.

    • @Lotchik_Fishing
      @Lotchik_Fishing ปีที่แล้ว

      @@firstenglishlutheranchurch546 You are correct it is just HDMI. We actually just use HDMI over ethernet extenders so that we did not have to go the SDI mode. it works very well as long as we used good quality HDMI and ethernet cables.

    • @Lotchik_Fishing
      @Lotchik_Fishing ปีที่แล้ว

      The PTZ cameras have HDMI outputs so the one right above the booth is a direct HDMI connection. The one on the other side of the church is HDMI frin the camera to a HDMI to ethernet extender then back to HDMI to the ATEM. Works very well.
