Fantano will mess this up.

This is a criticism of Fantano's reviews and his method of understanding technical or lyrical albums such as Eminem's. He seems to often echo the opinions of his cancerous twitch chat which enables him to be stuck in his own echo chamber and judges music purely on listenability from a "normie" perspective. I have a lot of gripes with his method of listening and critiquing songs specially from a...

the description is hilarious. Wow, he judges music on listenability? Like whether it's enjoyable to listen to? what a crazy way to talk about music. by talking about whether listening to it is enjoyable
If that was the only criteria to judge music, everyone would be playing jazz
While I agree with your opinion of the albums point was misinterpreted by fantano, it can't change how much of it is not something you play in clubs, cars, or myself for that matter. In terms of longevity, I can't put much in a playlist. this alternate reality doesn't exist so when I listen to it with the rest of my songs, I'm supposed to remember that the album is contrarian? fantano can give it a 6-7 for the concept alone, but longevity, I'm a 5 or 6
Well my point is fantano missing the point, I wasn't rating the album in this video. If you judge an album by replayability of individual tracks, then you are free to have that opinion
i would definitely disagree in the sense that anthony isn’t a hip hop head or a hip hop/ rap fan, its probably one of his favorite genres. just because he listens to a lot of genres doesn’t mean he’s not invested in rap or hip hop. He only has like five or six ten out of tens, and three of them are rap/hip hop (TPAB, The money store, and Kids see ghosts) But i do definitely agree with his fanbase being absolutely miserable for the most part, especially his twitch chat
i mean decent 5 isn't even that bad.
It's not but when the same guy gives Lil Pump a 7....
1:43 It does actually make sense he’s going for a lyrical bar not a logical bar. As platapuss pla - ter -puss. It’s more rhyme to be technical not to be logical.
1:43 turns out platypus is a delicacy for some aboriginals ate them so it actually counts as a double or maybe triple entendre as he’s saying he’d eat a woman’s pus by putting her on a platter for himself a plate as the saying you have something on a sliver platter literally the woman throwing puss at him. It could also mean he’s putting puss on a platter (sneak mfers) a threatening verse to and just saying he’s gonna eat good food.
I disagree with his points, but I think it was a mediocre album 1. Eminem while purposely trying to make lines cringey, they made the complex lines surrounding them worse 2. The production on certain beats were bad (Brand New Dance was the track for me) 3. Certain parts of tracks were terrible (Antichrists chorus was annoying) I did enjoy most of the features and the fact that it is reversible is great, the fact that I just don’t like half of the album makes me sad with this record
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The death of slim shady. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of hip hop and King Marshall Mathers most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Slim's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Slim's existencial catchphrase "Fuck Blind people," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as my glorious Kind's genius unfolds itself on their Phone's screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Eminem tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
havent heard the album yet but this shit really does not make me want to tap in
Then don't listen to it. Duh
at the end of the day he only enjoyed it enough for a 5/10 - no grand concept or story that he didnt quite get will change that all too much
also youre glazing eminem so much
@@goat9629 1) I didn't glaze em in the vid, I only talked about what Anthony missed 2) he disliked the album because in his own review as he says, he found the concept shallow and corny and a lot of the reasons he gave for finding the music not fun was because of what his understanding of the album was so if he got the concept, he would've liked it more. This should be obvious, You read a book and u don't understand what's going on then you won't like it at all. Duhh
I think that it’s much better than anything else since mmlp2 but I wouldn’t go past a 7 so I don’t disagree much with fantano knowing that for him even a 6 is a pretty good rating
I'd give it a 7 or light 8 too but Anthony give lil pump 7s and sexxy reds 8. I don't think his 6 is a good rating, I think his ratings are just messed up lmao
@@dontlook-atus the ratings change based on the expectations I think, the premise of a lil pump album is to have a couple of party ear worms and perhaps a couple of headbangers, you expect the lowest of lows and terrible content, and you get an album that does what it’s set out to do, of course it can’t get a 10, but it’s about as good as it’s going to get for that style of music or artist…. That’s how I see it at least, not a captivating listen but it’s not too slow, it’s not bloated it’s not musically boring and it’s just exactly what it’s supposed to be….
@@FrankieH-79 I don't think reviewing albums based on their individual expectations is really fair but I see your point
While I personally liked the Album and gave it an 7.5/10, it really sounded really good to me. I agree with Fantano when he said "Give a Man a Mask and he will tell you the Truth" I think it's a bit cowardly for any Artist to disguise their true internal thoughts inside a persona. Especially when they have messed up internal thoughts about other people mixed with insane twisted Fantasies, and nobody can say anything because "It's Slim Shady not Eminem" I enjoyed Revival, Kamikaze & Music To Be Murdered By way more but, this was still a good album tho.
Shady mocks em for the same thing on the album too. "You created me to say the shit you didn't have the balls to say". It's obvious marshall is self aware about this
@@dontlook-atus Eminem is Shady. Shady is Eminem. It's the same human being, it's Marshall Mathers. His takes on (Little People, Disabled People, LGBT People, Women & People of Other Cultures & Races, and Gen-Z) is how he truly feels. Even if I completely don't agree with him, I would rather he say these things as himself over categorizing it as a Persona saying it. I disagree, with 90% of what Kanye says in his recent music but I respect the fact that he's saying it, not a persona.
@@OmenLamb that's not how he feels, it's just intrusive thoughts. Normal people have those thoughts and say "wtf?" And move on. Marshall created the persona of Shady so he could voice whatever intrusive thoughts he got for shock value
@@dontlook-atus To each their own, inteprit it however you want, I just think his actions in the have fit with what he's said on the album. I don't think Eminem should be held account about what he's done in the (past) because he's now a different person, he's not racist an addict or an alcoholic anymore. However I do look at the (present) especially what he said to TylerTheCreator on "Fall" insulting him with the "F" slur, mixed with his opinions on LGBT People within the album, I honestly can't say Eminem is not Homophobic or Anti-LGBT and his weird targetting for Women celebrities all the time is a bit too much. I think Eminem gets too much unfair hatred online especially for the things he's done in the past, changed and apologized for but I'm not gonna blindly pretend that some of the things people say about him are truthful and justfied, I honestly can't pretend he doesn't a weird hatered to some women Women, LGBT and Gen-Z. While rank #1 Eminem my all time favorite rapper followed by #2 Lil Wayne #3 Nicki Minaj #4 Kendrick Lamar #5 Busta Rhymes. I'm not gonna absolve them from criticism I do the same with Nicki all the time even while I love her pen and artistry. You can call them "intrusive" thoughs but I don't think they completely are.
Also he knows what the album's concept is and praises it in his video, he's criticizing the execution of the concept
He missed the entire concept. Watch my video, his review in full and use your brain if u ever had one
Eminem stans when you say you dont like the music. "Bro you forgot to listen to it backwards" 🤣 I dont even agree with alot of fantanos opinions but you guys are so obnoxious every time he says something. If you think he didnt listen to the album the way he was supposed to then why do you even care. Why is this one mans opinions living rent free in your head bro.
Well... now I found a dic rider. Why are Eminem's opinions stuck in his head exactly? Oh, coz it's his job?? Then why is it all sad and gloomy when someone points fingers at your papi? Him being a bad critic is not above criticism. Y'all are pathetic
Fant simply comes off as bias when he discusses anything Marshall related. Anyone that knows better expects exactly this. I don’t think he’s living in anyone’s head (how? Marshall proves him wrong every time by how well he does) I personally just find it funny that he made himself look so remedial this time. I mean, everyone has a right to their opinion but it’s cringe at this point considering so many other people actually understand the concept / project or at least provided proper receipts to back up their stance. Just another person scraping for attention for views / relevance. Fant doesn’t provide any form of meaningful feedback which results in a cesspool of toxicity . It has become a meme at this point.
@@dontlook-atus Apparently not liking eminems new album makes me a fantano d rider when i rarely watch his reviews. Why do you automatically assume every person who disagrees with you has some ulterior motive.
@@Impala101 coz u sound like a dic rider. If u ain't one, it's even worse for u
What Fantano doesn’t realize is that the album doesn’t take place in reality it’s a concept album where Eminem gets canceled and boycotted the album is not based on reality at all.
It's a "what if I never quit drugs and ended up as the white Kanye of the world" album
IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE CRAZY, CRINGE, GOOFY, SLICK, GREAT, SILLY. FRONT TO BACK. BACK TO FRONT. FOR ME, IN MY TOP 3 EM ALBUMS.
FANTANO IS A GOOF.
I completely agree with you, also his rating scale is completely messed up. In his eyes, Lil Pump 1 is better than MBDTF
Acc to Fantano- Sexxy red's album is better than Cupcakke's new album, MMLP 2, most of Drake's catalogue, Mtbmb, and this slim shady album. I don't need to spell out something is horribly wrong there
he changed his views on lil pump
if you dont think hes smart enough to review something or if you simply dont like hes opinion why the fuck di you go through the effort to make a video? clearly you value the guys opinion hes just giving hes take it shouldnt affect your thoughts or your feelings at the end of the day ur the one making a video saying ohh this guys an idiot for the way he thinks not the other way around. you dont like him just dont follow him, i think hes take was valid, and a 5 is a good score all things considered. also if u wanna get into stupid name calling stuff and call people "braindead" theyre gonna call u an eminem dick rider and thats that have some respect.
Even though many people missed the fact this the entire thing is a fictional story. I find it ironic so many people are taking Shadys ragebait close to heart. Its like, if they really think its ragebait, then clearly its working. Lmao
Fantano Wack AF
I'm not even mad at his rating he gave Relapse 6 and MBDTF like 6 as well or something. Is just he completely missing mark on ongoing " oh no Eminem saying they going cancel me" Sit the fk Out Fantano he making remarks intentionally because him and his team know he can't be cancelled. He doing intentionally to piss of more people. Such a huge critic and can't see something so basic? Is very lame of him
I think the album is good but holy shit some of the lyrics make me cringe to the point of skipping to the next song so I do think to a certain extent he isnt too wrong I would give it a 7
I'll give it a light to decent 8 but agreed.
We gatekeeping reviewing now? Not saying that your criticism of the album and fantano himself is a bad thing but dismissing his very own opinions later in the video seems a bit hypocritical tbh. I personally didn’t mind the album, it’s fine, definitely his best thing since tmmlp2 but that’s my opinion and you can have yours as well as fantano imho
My opinion was that his opinion was invalid. I put that forward, You can disagree with that and say mine is invalid, that's fine. That's how opinions are lol
@@dontlook-atusyou can think his opinions are whack but then saying he should, and I quote “just steer clear of certain topics” or him not being “qualified” (whatever that means) to review stuff and therefore he shouldn’t is bogus
@@n1c3ly it's my opinion. In my view, he doesn't have what it takes to review some hiphop albums. That's all 🤷🏻♂️
This video is stupid
I agree , fantano missed the point of the album , honestly its too much hate like em said in the kamikaze interview, if i zig i must zag , here is slim shady oh No people would say he is too old to become slim again he should say something new , em like okay here something and really good content oh No we want shady back , at this point its just fucking silly , there is NO genuine opinion , everyone just want to agree with everyone, the death of slim shady is a great album amazing flows clever wordplay as always and nice features 🔥🔥🔥
Bro it’s not just about the sorry. And album can have a pretty cool and awesome story, doesn’t make it good music. Look at Tyler the creator and his “Wolf Trilogy” which has some fucking awful songs in it. The story is cool, but the music doesn’t hold up. Fantano is a music critic, not a “album lore critic” if you want to criticize him by saying why the music is actually really good, I can get that, but this is just bitching that “uh, it’s deep and therefore good and if you agree with him you have no brain and fantano shouldn’t review music”
My issue with it is that if the album is meant to be a story, and you miss the whole story, then you won't be able to judge the album properly. A lot of issues Anthony had with some of the lines of the album and concepts would've been solved if he understood it in context of the lore (see his review for reference). That's what I made this video to point out
Also, if Anthony was just rating the songs of the album individually and we took an average, the album would end up higher even by his standards. He judges an album as a complete body of work and the story matters to the overall review, it's not just whether it's good music or bad music.
It takes "media literacy" to realize that the "alternate setting" is supposed to be a metaphor for our reality/ Not the same, but a metaphor. Its ridiculous to say it is completely unrelated and isolated from reality.
It's not just a metaphor, it's an alternate reality. When you reverse the album it begins with Marshall not quitting drugs on Somebody save me, thinking about death on Temporary and the track Habits also takes on a different meaning when you understand that in this version, he'd still be on drugs. It's a full on different timeline lol
@@dontlook-atus i already said my pieace but just as a sidenote if u add LOL at the end of a sentence it doesnt stop you as coming off any less salty, LOL.
@@tiredshinigami9145 I'm telling him how he Misunderstood the album or how he doesn't have a point. That's not being salty, L. O. L.
@@dontlook-atus Yeah, and if that was all you did, no one would call you salty. But you very clearly are on top of that.
At first, sorry for my bad english, is not my mother language, but talking about Fantano Review... Eminem at last 8 years has only made mediocre albuns, is not bad, it just not good as we expected,, when Eminem released "The Marshall Matters LP", i think that was the best era for Eminem, all lyrics was about something more deep than Slim Shady era, it was a new step for Eminem, and made him more famous than before. What i mean is, "Coupe de Gracê" its only a nostalgia money grab than anything else, and he uses a "what if" or multiverse ideia, that is oversaturated, there nothing new in this album. About Fantano being slow to understand this album, i don't think so! I'm not protecting him, he hated Mac Miller's "Swimming" album (at the beginning, after he changed his mind about it), and i totally disagree about his review, and he liked "BRAT" and i hated it! It's just his own opinion about this album, you have your own and i have mine. And again, Fantano it is not slow to understand this album, he understand what Kendrick Lamar's "Mr Morale and & The Big Steppers" album wanted to show us, which is more complex than "Coupe de Gracê".
Yeah but no. Two albums being complex doesn't mean you understand them both and I feel personally Mr. Morale and the big steppers' concept is a little on the nose, it's hard to really miss. And while this isn't a perfect album or anything and MMLP still is leagues better, to think that an album that had a deep concept and storyline like this and such good execution, specially backwards (which is better than the original order of the tracks, spoiler) gets the same rating as Music to be murdered by, which for all intents was an album about Em flexing that, "Look, I can still rap".. it doesn't sit right with me
Does he ever actually kill off Slim Shady tho?
He does, There's parts of slim still lingering in him even after he kills him but he's much tamer towards the end which is pretty realistic to what you'd expect in the album's universe after slim is killed
@@aidenlucas3271 the point is that em can never kill slim shady, but he can live with him
I agree to a certain degree, but you are saying this way too pretentiously, to the point where you sound like you're making straw man argument (you're not, but saying things like "it just takes a little bit of media literacy" really make it sound like it). also, 5/10 isn't bad for an Anthony review, I'm not even that big of a fan and even I know it. he rates 5/10 as a good album but not special, 6-8/10 for good, unique albums and 9-10/10 for no reason whatsoever. that hater mindset is exactly the type of shit em talks about in Renaissance, don't be such a hater man, maybe try to listen and understand where he's coming from before making 3 minute yapping session.
you say that you agree and then say hes yapping and hating. the logic doesnt really follow bc he obviously has a valid critique of a critic. fantano has history with just dogging on em and his music so if anyone is a hater it would likely be him LOL
@@martianfn2012 saying I agree with something but he's hating isn't contradiction. The way you word something is part of of a review
I was a bit bitter so I threw in some disses. Sorry lol. He gave cupcakke's album a 6, a few hours after he rated this a 5, he gave lil pump a 7, the same as MMLP2, and Sexxy Red an 8.. his ratings are a big hit and miss when it comes to hiphop. He is not consistent like ever
@@aidenlucas3271 fantano is heavily biased towards liking or disliking something before it’s even listened to(which is normal but he’s a critic). Eminem is one of those people where he forces himself (or naturally) picks on little things like funny one liners and bases his entire image of that
@@pretro6136 it’s not even hate off this persons side at all so it doesn’t even make sense, how is critiquing a critic hate?
He missed the point of the album, at least it’s not as bad as the kamikaze review where he spends the entire video talking about anything except the album, I don’t take anything he says seriously, I just laugh at melon’s fans who take his words as gospel

Thanks for explaining the wordplay there. Still tho, it's not a double, coz you know it doesn't make sense as the original "platypus". Because a platypus isn't on a platter.. Still cool that u let me know
Fuel is the only song I’ve heard yet, but it is higher than an 8 😭 also 6 is too low for Houdini cmon it’s fun, also not bad video
8 is a pretty good rating actually. I don't give high to almost any songs.. 6 means it's pretty good, 7 means it's great, 8 means it's amazing, 9 means it's phenomenal and 10 mean it's perfect
And idk man. I loved the verses on houdini but the beat just irks me for some reason
@@dontlook-atus You do realize the beat is a sample from the Steve Miller Band, right? Their song called Abracadabra, which ties into Houdini. Give me any other artist that could make that song work in hip hop.
@@jaynpeeps I have heard the original song a lot, and there's still something annoying about the beat.. idk. My ears just don't like it. And sampling isn't new, almost all hiphop tracks use samples and a lot of times the songs that are sampled from are thematically tied to the new track. A random example, "there once was a Thug from around the way. Eazy". Has been sampled probably a 100 times already from Logic to Metro Boomin in like that. That doesn't mean everything will just sound good automatically.
Brand new dance just a 5? You never liked Eminem in the first Place. That's ok, it's not for you

Antichrist has actually grown on me. I'll rate it around a 7 or 8 now, but idk about brand new dance. No need to be so angry bruh. I like Em that doesn't mean everything on the album will be perfect
Also I wanted to give lucifer and Antichrist a 6 coz the devil's number but antichrist is definitely better than that now that I listen to it lol
trouble is not eminem trying to be offensive just to be offensive it's eminem depicting slim shady as the ultra-offensive guy
What I meant was from a meta stand point, in story and in universe it's slim shady doing these things but in real life, eminem added that track so people would talk about the album , right? That being said, trouble has started to seem less corny to me over listening to the album reversed a few times and seeing it purely from the universe the album is set in. I'll be re-rating it around 6/10 now
@@dontlook-atusfair but he actually didn’t add it for that reason the entire album is a complete depiction of each stage of music he was in at the time. Lmao brand new dance did come off of encore, he didn’t release it bc Chris reeves died imo it’s the best song off of the album. But I’d say it’s a solid 9/10 bc the beat and hook really carried
It's Reeve, not Reeves. IDK why Em pronounces it as Reeves, perhaps it's a joke that he can't let go of? It's a great song as you said. IDK why he couldn't have put it on Relapse though, 5 years would have been long enough!
I rated it low coz the beat and hook were nice but the verses were just.. ok? There wasn't much of anything to latch onto and I'm personally not a fan of commercialesque/club banger type songs like these. Idk it might grow on me later
I disagree with your opinion on road rage. If you have seen the headlines of fat ppl trying to defend being fat and then those same fat "activists" dying defending that stupid lifestyle, this song needed to be made. The hook is actually really good. there have been way wayyy worse hooks like most of Relapse & Revival , zeus , VENOM, NOT AFRAID???? too many to name; em doesnt write good hooks very much. but in comparison to Road Rage , RR Just sounds incredibly well. I think youd have to come back to this track a coupe times. I had to listen to the album multiple times to really have a solid opinion.
Idk but Zeus had a great hook. Why didn't u like that one? And I don't mind the issue Em is tackling but the way he's doing it seemed a lil corny that's all

The truth is we simply do not take fat people serious thats why its offputting. I walk back on zeus but what iwanna say in place stepdad was a terrible song in zeus place.
@@ThePerceptivision I still dk bout road rage. I'll revisit it to see if it grows on me but yeah, Stepdad's hook was aggregious
@@dontlook-atus everything about stepdad was absolute dog shit. I loved Mtbmb both sides , but step dad did not deserve to be on there at all.
valid rating but you missed one key song... the Guess Who's Back skit, shit was peak 🔥
I wasn't rating skits so I didn't do that but thanks either way
chorus is garbage in habits hot take i dont care
Well it's your take, so sure. I liked it though
@@dontlook-atus actually scratch that, not garbage just kinda mid, garbage is "MY STEPDADDD" and ascending to heaven is "little engine go"
@@ITSTIMETOSAYGOODBYE "Aah Ahh haaaAte My mY StepDad" 😭😭
@@dontlook-atushe sounds like an inebriated goldfish with dementia on the track, it sounds like hes forgetting lines
Well he gave him a 5
That was unexpected. I'll give the album a 7 myself but 5 isn't too bad for him I guess
@@dontlook-atus I expected that he would give a 3
