The EZCad Pen Tool - 101
มุมมอง 9K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey, another 101 video on the Pen Tool in EZCad. This is an often confusing tool to use and if you use it correctly, can add different colors and settings to your projects. It’s assumed that you already know how to hatch and use your various power, speed, and frequency settings to get the desired output from your laser. If you have your EZCad layers set with different pens then you can get some...

Cutting Car Keys on a Fiber Laser
มุมมอง 1.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Many have asked, if I have my key can I cut a spare on my fiber laser? Well, the short answer is YES but here are some things that I ran into when doing this. First, you need to have a very good vector tracing of your original key. To do this, I used some simple vector tracing techniques to get a good image to trace, loaded into my favorite app and traced the image. The “KEY” thing here is to i...

    This software is the worst cad software there is. Sucks absolute donkey ass. No control over the start or finish point of text, no control over deformation of text, 100% purified dog shit. I hope a very unpleasant rest of the day to the dev team and a very nice rest of the day to you good sir. Edit: i hope the dev team finds a pebble in their shoes everytime they go for a walk.

    Can anyone explain how to run two or more pens on the same mark run over the same logo ? For example with cast iron I have to run one pass at 75% power and a second pass at 15% power, how can I assign the two different pen settings to do it in one mark ?

    • @USICT
      @USICT 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have to have 2 different settings in your settings library. Then assign the first 75% as pen 0 (black color) then the 15% as pen 1 (blue color) when you’re hatching the object. Be sure to select 2 hatches as drop down and assign pen 1 to hatch 2. Good luck.

    Have you ever had an issue with your pen settings on pen 0 changing when you change pen 1 settings? Every time I change a pen's settings it changes all the settings like they're grouped or something but they are not grouped. all individual shapes.

    • @USICT
      @USICT 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Click off any vectors on the main space to unselect everything. Select the new pen and change settings. It’s a bug.

    • @jeffreyjulian4570
      @jeffreyjulian4570 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@USICT I tried that. Only selecting one item at a time and changing the pen settings. Then i click off the work space then click a different object and the settings carry over from the previous object.

    Thanks for the idea of the DRO. mine came yesterday. I got the absolute version, which retains origin, which I set at the focal height of my 175 x 175 lens. I generated an excel spreadsheet that I put in material thickness of what I am marking, and it adds that to the zero(where I set origin) and that is where you adjust your height to. I also made a setting for my 70 x 70 lens. which the focal point for that is 165.25 mm lower, so it subtracts that distance from the origin and adds material thickness.

    I still can't manage to get the text to wrap on the bottom half of a circle, it always defaults to the top, even if I select bottom, or base with the other text icon tool that magically appears, nothing happens it stays at the top of the circle.

      Go to the text curve and then place a “-“ minus sign before the curve number. It will invert it.

    I would love to know how you get your template/frame drawing to line up perfectly with your firearm. I have meticulously traced the firearm in Ai, but when I send it to ezcad it is not the correct size. So I make the adjustments in ezcad, and then save those adjustments, but then the file is an ezcad file and I can’t open it back up in Ai to draw my design to that perfect size. I’m sure I’m missing something because everyone makes it look so simple but I am beside myself trying to figure this out. I would really appreciate your advice.

    • @davidevangelista3602
      @davidevangelista3602 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the million dollar puzzle Nickole. The best way that I can explain to do this in the short amount of space here is to first create your outline in EZCad to fit exactly to the piece you want. Turn off the Grid and center lines, minimize all the cad menu options to get the vector outline element as big as you can on your screen, use SNIPIT or another screen capture tool to pull the outline, save it as JPG, pull it into Adobe and then use the magic wand select tool and then stroke that to a new layer. Delete the base layer, and then you will have your outline as close to 1:1 as possible. Another way, if you are adapt at vector tracing is to use the penny technique. This is about as accurate as you can get. Place a penny on or near the object you need the pattern for, then using an iPad, iPhone or whatever your poison is - place a penny on that glass, adjust your zoom and orientation until both pennies are the same exact size and there are no skewing in the image (meaning you can't see any sides) to ensure you're 90 degrees perpendicular and snap the shot and trace that. I hope this helps. -- Dave
