A REVIEW of the BCG Weight Vest - Academy Sports
Make your feet straight shoulder with apart. Geez your breaking my heart man your form needs work
Hey buddy. Don’t hyperextended it’s bad for your joints. Squat down more and keep your head back and up
Sun’s out guns out. 5 degrees here.
Just ordered an adjustable weight mace from Kensui (the metal one). Looking forward to trying it out. You do like your toys I see! Keep training.
That one is a lot of fun.
Muscular music, too.
Good video brother
Thanks!
You put the bi in bicep.
Where do you get your dumbbells?
I’m not using dumbbells in this video. Those are filler bags from the 2XSR sandbag. The dumbbells I use in other videos are Kensui Adaptabells.
I’m trying to keep things fairly light and portable, so I went with: 1) KBox 5 for Squats, Deadlifts, and Rows 2) Rep x Pepin 85 lb adjustable dumbbells, mostly for upper body 3) 3 Ultimate Sandbags (Core, Power, Strength) with lead shot filler bags for up to 100 lbs, mostly for more dynamic lower body exercises 4) Duonamic Eleviia pull-up bars 5) Double Circle suspension straps
Where’d you get the lead shot?
From Brute Force training, they had these 5 lb “Adaptive Filler” bags that worked with their Sandbags, Kettlebells, and Weight vests. Unfortunately they’re going out of business, selling off their final stock, and I don’t see the filler bags on their website anymore.
A shame they’re going out of business.
Question for ya...I know you're not with 2XSR...but I bought the combo bag and I filled the 15 pound bag with sand...full...MAXED OUT with a small funnel to fill it out complete and it's just shy of 12 pounds...my scale was calibrated and a comparable 15 pound dumbbell was put on the same scale and it was just shy of 15 pounds...nothing is exact I guess...but have you had this problem? I dont know if I want to fill the other 60 pound and 30 pound bag if this is going to be a problem..I've emailed the company and they've told me this is the first time this has happened and they have 3 Quality people on the team....so I don't know and I don't know if they do either...thoughts?
I have not had this issue. I have filled the me 15 lbs filler bags to just over 15 lbs, and the 30 lbs to 28 lbs or so. The 60 lbs drag bag was the hardest to fill for me, but it is at 58 lbs for me. All I can suggest is to compact the sand as much as possible and fill. Remember, these are max weights. I intentionally did not fill mine as much as possible so that there was still some shift in the bag though. I have also found that if you think you’ve filled it completely, you likely haven’t. I ran into this personally.
@@TheologyGeekFitness Thanks for feedback. The company said that this 15 pound bag was released this year so I don't know. The 30 pound filled nearly at 30 and I'm not expecting exact...but to be nearly 4 pounds under at a 4 pound bag x 2 is nearly 10 pounds gone, so that's frustrating. But great company, great bag and getting ready to train. Thanks again for your video and demonstrations especially with the pulley system.
Happy to help. I’m not sure how the production could be off to allow that much variance in the filler bags though. Maybe use for a bit and try to get more sand in later. All I can think of is moisture in the sand may be affecting it.
I don’t recommend the smoke.
😮
great
Working the long head?
Where did you get those dumbbells
What dumbbells? These are BOSU hydro balls and Storm 60.
I heretofore have run 3x per week. Downshifting, today I will swap out lower body weight training, and start to run only 2x per week. So maybe my legs will be more shapely while my VO2 max will continue its downward slope. I’m thinking 3 sets of: toe raises, foot extensions, leg curls, leg extensions, squats, and I came here hoping for a glute thing. Maybe glutes are not lower body, and maybe they won’t be so shapely.
RFK Jr is aspiring me to work on my pecs more. Get square!
Read your bible! (KJV, preferably) ❤️
Have you tried the synapse ccr its a pretty interesting device but its abit pricey for what it is
Read your bible! (KJV, preferably) ❤️
No. It’s been recommended to me several times by friends, but due to the price and what it is, I haven’t bothered with it. I’m sure it’s as great as advertised, but I’m not a fan of unilateral training in general, and to train bilaterally, you’d need two and someone with whom to train. I train alone. So a las, it is likely not for me.
Added Angles 90 pulley system on your advice. Subtracted 60 lb dumbbells. Getting weaker. I have 50’s that I only use for farmer’s carry.
Read your bible! (KJV, preferably) ❤️
Straight arms for lats?
Yup. Better than pullovers. Arms mostly straight with elbows out. Hits the lats great.
@ when I got my pulley stuff I switched, but I wasn’t sure I was hitting the same group.
Hey thanks for the video. I want to buy max since it has longer sleeves, but the thing is it seems like the slide release buckle seems to release with heavy weights. I've seen a review where a person just puts pressure on the buckle and the buckle gets ripped off easily. This is the only thing stopping me from buying the max version. What do you think about this? Do you think the velcro on the pro version is much safer when it comes to more weights? I would appreciate your answer. Thank you
Having not used the Max, I can’t say for sure, but I would be weary of that myself. The velcro is solid on the pro. I never had an issue with it. I’m not sure about the difference in the sleeves that come stock, but it seems they had several options for both models. I ended up using the XT sleeves most often anyway personally though since I used the vest for upper body calisthenics exercises as well.
Nice big office!
So you can’t do tibialis raises with the ankr max?
I mean, you can, but I’d argue not as well given where the weight is placed compared to the pro.
I am doubting between the kensui nanobars v2 and the angles90 slingtrainer+angles 90 handle… which setup do you prefer and why?
Angles90 and sling Trainer. Better value, especially because the grips have more uses than the handles on the Nanobars v2.
@@TheologyGeekFitness Thanx... actually I ordered them both so I can test it myself. With BF-discounts its no big deal... I want a compact and versatile homegym & mobile gym (Parc, holidays etc)... Like your videos btw!
Sounds like fun 😅. For me it’s handstand push-ups with my feet against the wall, pull-ups or chin-ups, dips on dip bars or if I’m feeling really strong then dips on gymnastics rings, weighted push-ups with the Kensui vest or clapping plyometric push-ups. About 3 sets of 6-12 reps and I’m good to go. 👍
Great video. Love the T2 trainer
Yup. It’s a fantastic tool.
Do they come with the weight plates or i have to buy both individually?
They do not come with weight plates.
@TheologyGeekFitness ok
The hip abduction / Adduction movements are definitely beneficial as we get older.
Yup. I don’t want replacement surgeries in my old age. 👍😁
Sounds like fun. I like those banded side steps, they are good for the knees.
Please show us how to hit the tri in triceps. I think I’ve been hitting just one for 8 years. I don’t have that little wormy thing. They are the sign of the consummate body builder. I don’t know what they make you fit for, though.
Great info, thank you for sharing!
How much you curling?
Depends on the day.
What do you think about peptides?
I don’t think about them at all. 👍
IDK. I like the squats, that’s about it. The rest of those exercises are pretty much useless in my opinion. Do some push-ups or dips or handstand push-ups and some pull-ups or chin-ups. And don’t forget the neck bridges! Do the exercises that will make you strong.
Those exercises may not be your thing, but they aren’t useless. They are fundamental exercises. Not everyone likes bodyweight exercises, or can do them. These are solid exercises for the gear being used. That’s the point of the video. Useless exercises are the ones that were marketed with these products (see my reviews on them).
Yeah they are. Show me somebody who built the kind of strength necessary to save their own or somebody else’s life by doing lateral raises. Let’s be honest. Isolation exercises are ok for rehabilitation purposes but other than that are a waste of time and energy. The only isolation exercise that might have some value is the curl because it could make you stronger at pull-ups. Since you have often told us that you don’t care one way or the other then I feel comfortable expressing my true opinions. 😁
Understood. 😁 I like lateral raises though. Rounds out the shoulders. I also think aesthetics matter, and isolation exercises are necessary for those of us who need a little extra attention to certain lagging muscles. I’ve also noticed that the older I get, the more isolation exercises matter to keep the physique up. As we age, bodies just want to ditch muscle for some reason.
Keep up the good work sir!
The longer I am in the fitness industry the longer I realize that it's not about what one needs but what one wants or prefers, and obviously what they can afford. When many think of a Home or Garage Gym, they mean equipment that can replicate the public gym experience, hence why you see traditional equipment like squat racks on an essentials list, it doesn't make it stupid, it's just someone's opinion and expectation for a home gym. Many people love using such equipment, it keeps them motivated and interested, furthermore, modern squat racks provide ample options for customizations and variety, it is just fun to build out and customize, becomes a lifelong hobby and interest. Such variety keeps people interested in fitness. Although I would agree with you that you really don't need much to be fit and healthy especially for beginners who are just starting out, I would not call someone's else's list stupid as people have unique preferences in their training methods and thus find value in those lists. It is worth having an open mind about what other people like to use and train with.
Agreed, but hyperbole is kinda my thing. 😉💪👍
Got a door frame pull up bar that’s served me well for 5 years and a powerblock set that I got half off of the 5-90lbs each. And a second hand pretty solid adjustable bench. 50 abd can still do 54 push ups in a row and 14 pull ups as well as still run and walk a lot.
My list is this. Pull up bar, set of rings, 3 different kettlebells. I do have an ab roller in the wasted money category. Never use that thing. I'll do any other exorcise before that one.
You’re set for life with just that, basically. 👍
I've been using this for about years now. I've gained a ton of muscle and strength. My neighbor even mentioned it. I won't go into my workout routine ... I would be writing a book on a TH-cam no one wants to read ... but saying that, I got a PVC coupling and slid the straps through it. I then put it under a door and never have to adjust the straps. Just step further or closer to the door. For other exercises I just stand on it. The Straps can move and be adjusted from side to side because they slip through the coupling. You mentioned the handles and I can attest the handles are the best I've seen on a any piece of equipment that supports handles like Suspension Trainers. If you use them correctly, it's a big bang for the buck.
I have recently added isometrics to my workout. I have the Worldfit iso trainer and iso loop. I just received a bullworker iso Flo and iso bow. I also have loop style resistance bands. I also belong to Planet Fitness. I primarily go to Planet Fitness for cardio during the winter. Normally I do bike riding when weather permits.
I usually take my resistance bands, iso bow and iso flo
Not bad options. I’m still early in isometrics, but I’m a fan. I prefer to have pull-up and dip options while traveling though. That’s why I make much of the Crossgrips and sling trainer.
What recovery pajamas do you recommend?
I wear flannel pajama shorts year round.
I think the Eleviia is great. I've never used it with rings. Never tried the Crossgrips, but I want to.
Yeah, it’s a solid product, just not for me. Also, the Crossgrips and the DoubleCircle rings both bought together is still cheaper than the Duanomic package. And not as good for the reasons I stated in the video.
@TheologyGeekFitness I've only used it on a higher door so the length is fine. Do you think either one is easier on the door frame?
Nah, they both seem fine as far as that goes. I’d say the Crossgrips are more secure on the frame, but not any easier or harder on it.
@TheologyGeekFitness Thank you.
I bought the Isobow pro from bullworker. I also have the worldfit iso loop and iso trainer. I incorporate isometrics, resistance bands and dumbbells into my workouts.
We should talk!
Indeed!
I couldn't notice you have 3 ceiling anchors, I'm curious as to why that is? Also, since I've just purchased a similar product (different brand) and my plan is to get a couple of ceiling anchors (as far as my online research went, I should install them shoulder width apart and a bit) can you point out which anchors did you get? Thank you!
I just bought some generic brand off Amazon. They’re all the same and cheaper than the TRX ones. I got three originally for the BGR (bars grips rings), because I wanted them spaced apart for the bar, but closer together for the suspension trainer and rings functions. I don’t use that anymore, but I’m glad I have three because I will sometimes use two for some handles directly on them and the T2 or another suspension trainer on the third, or use two for rings, and the other for a suspension trainer, or use them with handles on two and rings, with a handle sharing one with one of the rings. So, I have options with three depending on what I want to use for a workout that day. Plus, I can always just go buy a cheap resistance band bar, and get some short straps and carabiners and use it as a pull-up bar if I wanted to. I don’t, but that’s all the bar was with the BRG anyway. You really only need two, but three gives more options.
Are you gonna do a review of the Kensui EZ Neck or EZ Helm? Feel like neck training isn't done enough and there isn't a ton of content on the products.
Not sure yet.
And with those cutouts for carrying handles you can protect yourself in case someone is trying to bash you with a bat or pipe!😅
Ha! I’m not saying I didn’t pretend to be a gladiator while holding them, but I’m not saying I did either. 😎
I agree with you completely and the owner of World Fit is a pleasure to deal with regarding customer service. When they first came out with the IsoTrainer I purchased one for about $30 which is what they cost at the time on Amazon. I left a mostly positive review with only one minor complaint which was that I wanted to be able to extend my arms completely overhead while pressing because I was trying to build strength for the handstand. The owner read my review and contacted me by email to ask how much longer of a strap I needed, I told him about another 2 feet in length. He then made me a new one to my specs and sent it to me no charge! What a great company to deal with. Their door pull-up handles which I saw your review on are great also.
