A lot of airlines wish they had never bought this dog, even 2nd rate airlines like Thai have pulled them out of service for their fuel inefficiency. But yeah, it's a pretty plane though many have already been scrapped.
New ZealandYT You cant say that, not enough were made and flown enough to be able to conclude this. Its a great plane nothing against it, but dont say its safer when it hasnt been put to the test time wise.
No, the 777 made 4 engine long distance planes obsolete. Airbus's own A330 which is a decent plane also contributed. 2 large engines are cheaper to run and maintain than 4 smaller ones.
How many of these things, and the 500 model are either scrapped or sitting in bone yards even though they are barely 10 years old because they are so inefficient? This plane was a disaster to the airlines that bought it.

If it was so good then why did they only sell 377 Airbus A340's compared to a Boeing 777's that started same year and sold 1,417 with 406 more on order. The A340 was a fuel guzzler with it's 4 engines when Boeing could do same thing and a lot more on 2 engines. Airlines couldn't wait to get rid of their A340's in exchange for a 777. Some airlines still fly the A340's and the only reason is because they can't get rid of the A340's because no one wants to buy them. Airbus even admitted that they actually lost money on the A340. Because to break even Airbus would of had to sell at least 450 A340's but sold only 377 so that's a big loss. The days for 4 engine aircraft are coming to an end the 747-8 passenger version is barely selling and the orders for the A380 are drying up also that's why Airbus is planning to end production of the A380 in 2018. At least the 747-8f Freighter still has a bright future in cargo for a long time to come and the A380 doesn't because it would not make a good cargo plane because of the cockpit placement on the A380 they can't make the nose open up like the 747 can.
Thai Airways has 10 of them, all about 10 years old that they've grounded because they're too inefficient and expensive to fly. Maybe they'll make you a deal on one. Other airlines too have dozens of them grounded.
Robin Sattahip nope big Airlines like Qatar, Iberia, Etihad, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, Lufthansa, South African, Singapore and Cathay Pacific still uses them I said this some time ago but 777 is also a good plane but I really love the a340-600 I don't know why.
777 is what killed the A340 because it could do all that an A340 could and a lot more but on two engines instead of 4. Boeing sold 4 times more 777's then Airbus sold A340's.
Secret Benny Who told you it killed a340? Airlines like Iberia, Virgin Atlantic, South African prefer a340 over 777 so step back. A340 is the best plane in the world!
Are you serious just look at the numbers. Boeing 777 and A340 started flying same year and are same size and yet Boeing sold almost 1417 planes with 400 more on order and growing everyday compared to A340's that sold only 377 and is no longer produced do to money Airbus lost on this plane. When the 777 came out 63% of airlines cancelled their orders for the A340 and bought 777. The only reason airlines are still flying them is because no one wants to buy the A340's from them. Just buy aviation news magazine and you will see how many airlines have their A340's in storage because they're not as efficient as the 777. Which airline wants a 4 engine aircraft when a 2 engine aircraft will do the same thing and more while burning between 25% and 35% less fuel. Look at the prices of used A340's they're extremely low because they just can't sell them, because no airline in their right mind wants to buy a fuel guzzler. Airbus even admited that they lost money on the A340 because just to break even they would of had to sell at least 400 planes and only sold 377 so Airbus actually lost millions. Don't get me wrong i love the A340 it's a beautiful plane, but it's just not as efficient as the 777. Days for 4 engine aircraft are coming to an end. The 747-8 passenger version is barely selling and the A380 orders are drying up also, that's why Airbus is planning on ending the A380 production in 2018 and stick to two engine aircraft. The days for 4 engine aircraft are numbered, even Airbus is planning on stopping the production of the A380 in 2018 because of lack of orders.
+Andrew Anane One of the. Although it does have quite the impeccable safety record, the 777, 767, and 747 compare pretty well with it. I would agree though that she is a beauty and a very sleek-looking aircraft.
Not sure how you came to this conclusion that the A340-600 is the safest plane. According to wiki, only 97 of these planes were built and came into service in 2002 and many of this type are being withdrawn from service so not many of this type are flying today. Unless the A340-600 are produced in quantities similar to other types, you can't conclude that this is the safest plane.
I think, in my humble opinion, that the A340-600 is the most elegant aircraft made by Airbus.
Amazing airplane! ✌
Anyone here having nostalgia? Because I used to watch this video when I was a kid, & it was the longest Airbus A340 I have ever known.
This video is so delightfully 2000s: the music, the editing, and of course, the aircraft itself.
I just want to live in the 2000s
RIP A340-500/600 MOST ARE WITHDRAWN FROM MOST AIRLINES...
My favorite aircraft if all time and I was one of the firsts male flight attendant on the L-1011 Eastern Airlines...6'1" in height and proud of it
Farther = Fart Sorry but i don't want to see all the door opened tbh
Pencil
My second aircraft next to the 747
Hai anybody on 2021 here?
the a340 was such a beautiful airplane, sad that it's failing.
When I was small, and first time of travel, I go to Japan with my family by a340-600 of Cathay Pacific
What is the black dangly thing behind the tail? It’s usually on new planes
This video screams early 2000s
Tout simplement "magnifique"
THE best looking passenger aircraft of all time (apart from Concorde) just a shame it wasn't commercially successful
The A340-600 is one of my favorite aircraft! Never been on a A340.
El mejor que he volado desde niño en casi 60 años Seguro y suave
Nice :)
Haven't heard of any of these A340s involved in any fatalities compared to the other planes,God know how i love this plane
Look at that building a a340-600 on it? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Unfortunately it has 4 engines
Back then this was like the biggest passenger aircraft ever, 747s aside. So it sure was a special moment in aviation.
17 years, :D
The Airbus 340 is so beautiful and more efficient ... I really like to work with Airbus or Boeing ... I'm an electronics technician.
The only rival Boeing 747 ... because the Airbus 380 will not be produced anymore
My first wide body was a 340-600 from Munich to Denver in last November.😊❤ ✈
so most likely D-AIHI or AIGV
A lot of airlines wish they had never bought this dog, even 2nd rate airlines like Thai have pulled them out of service for their fuel inefficiency. But yeah, it's a pretty plane though many have already been scrapped.
This is a beautiful airliner without commercial success unfortunately.
they also didn't expect that the third door is becoming a meme
Awesome plane! My third favorite aircraft just after the 757 and 747
777 beats the A340. The A340 is quite ugly to be honest. I do not see a thing to love about this aircraft.
New ZealandYT You cant say that, not enough were made and flown enough to be able to conclude this. Its a great plane nothing against it, but dont say its safer when it hasnt been put to the test time wise.
the a340 is unique also supported by Emiraties written in the a340 by the side thank you emeraraties with its Color that's my favourite of all times.
A340 is my favorite 😍😘
Boeing 777 killed this plane.
no and only you say that
No, the 777 made 4 engine long distance planes obsolete. Airbus's own A330 which is a decent plane also contributed. 2 large engines are cheaper to run and maintain than 4 smaller ones.
Boeing 777 killed this plane.
Airbus's own A330 which is a 2 engine plane that shares the same fuselage and can cross the Pacific also showed that 4 engines are not necessary.
Obrigado OBRIGADO PELO SOM A340. 600 EM TULOUSO NA FRANÇA

Aviation Nut dude. its his opinion
Oh she is beautiful! :)
most beautiful airliner
I Dont Hear The Good Sound :( Ouch.
I love the a340, it's just perfect. 777 looks boring. The landing was pretty erratic!

It's cool that they have a prisoner work release program...everyone needs a job, right?
lol ... You big silly!
Get your planes not to auto crash before you care about others.
nostalgia when first i watch this i was 3 year old
safest plane on earth
sure it is!!

George Clarmon The 747 and 767 have a terrible safety record.
Alex That's true.

What a reckless rotate!
I think he was hit by wind sheer on rotation
