Hello, Here's a quick tutorial on how to use sketchup to locate your models and get real shadow studies and animations. I've found them to be very accurate when compared to the real world. Great for checking things like overhangs and if they will/won't shade a window in the summer/winter. Hope this helps someone. Short answer, yes, long answer, not much. The full plate would likely prevent you from causing drift if you accidently don't push in line with the track, but if you take care to push in alignment I've not noticed any issues with the smaller models.

    I keep seeing more and more items of interest to me that have to be 3D printed. Not having any knowledge of 3D printers I guess it's time that I start to do some research. Curious what printer you used to print this adapter.

    • @raazdesign
      @raazdesign 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, I have an 10 year old Uprint SE Plus by Stratasys, it's overkill for these kind of projects, a small industrial one. I've had it for a long time and there are some very good desktop ones now that would do a very good job. But I do really like having it for projects. I make patterns, jigs, guides and a few finished parts with it. Not a 'must have' but it is a 'nice to have'

    • @paul_dz
      @paul_dz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raazdesign Thank you for the info - been doing some printer research - maybe 2022 is the year I get into 3D printing. Just one more question though - what material did you use for the jig? I didn't realize there were some many available with different pros and cons. Trying to figure out what works well for an application like this.

    • @raazdesign
      @raazdesign 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paul_dz I used a FDM printer with ABS material. I've found it sufficient for jigs like this. You can also strengthen it some after printing by sealing the layers which is good. I've even sealed, primed, and painted some prints to get a good finish for parts that need a good quality finish. Also one more idea before you jump in a buy a machine is to look around your area for a local maker space or club. Lots of libraries and clubs have printers now and sometimes you can cheaply rent time on them. As least in the US, not knowing where you're at of course it could be different.
