Condensed footage from a 90 minutes procession. There was a huge delay of 20 minutes after the Moyōshi Taiko (催太鼓) passed the main gate, so much so that all the proceeding musicians and dancers basically stopped playing, stood, and waited.

Pachelbel Ricercar in F sharp minor

Interesting piece from the South German organ school. A single 'theme', explored, rather surprisingly for Pachelbel, with quite some delicious invertus action. Played on a piano because I can't find a decent organ at hand currently.

And Europe welcomed migrants and gave them rights. And is was no better either.
Believe it or not...this movie was the basis for...GLADIATOR....same war..same Emperor..( marcus aurelius...) & his son succeded him...COMMODUS
Same thing happening perpetually
James Mason was a fantastic actor.
its always easiest to grab power by bringing in interlopers.
Good Roman historical. movie and cast
It's funny: the US empire did not learn ANYTHING from the fall of the Roman empire. It is repeating the SAME mistakes.
This is what the DEMO____ are using now to destroy the __!
BIDENS OPEN BORDERS is not new to destroy a nation ! Turn off the TV and read, or you will suffer .
Very, very timely! Exactly what is happening mainly in the US but the world in general. Beautiful!
James Mason era Bravissimo
How interesting we, the USA, is doing now?
Fallacy of his argument is man is not logical, but animal at heart .
A very good movie. I don't know why they don't make movies about the Romans like 70 and 60 years ago.
Stephen Boyd in helmet in his normal blue eyes. He had dark contacs on in Ben Hur. As Masala
Ironic that their ultimate decision to welcome in the barbarians led to the downfall of the Roman Empire. Usually letting millions of foreigners in does not bode well for the native civilization.

The Migrant crisis. Migrants did destroy Rome. They went from begging to be let in, and sneaking in, to breaking in and taking what they wanted as their right. And Rome could not stop them. And no country that cannot defend its sovereign borders can survive. And Rome fell.
Wait, this movie is set after the death of Marcus Aurelius? Sure it went downhill after that, but there was still 3 centuries to go, so hardly the "fall" of the empire.
James my love
Imperialism vs fedaralism ..... imperialism is a clear winner , centralization of power gives you more access to wealth and power and gives you more power to do greater good. but if you do not keep your faderal structure in harmony it will get harder by the day to keep your Imperialism intact . Egyptian dynesty ruled for 600 yrs, mughals 400, mongols and british 200, and America 100. Empires raise from the ground and fall to the ground It would be nieve not to keep your feet on the ground.
Even me I love old movies so much especially roman and Greek movies
can we get an early life check
opening the gates.. that didnt go very well did it? learn from history as the gates have once again opened in eu by weak and feeble minded elderly men and women who are even unelected beurocrats, and technocrats and take these decisions alone. who see the invaders as a chance for money, and prosperity, for their temporal personal interests same as then. we know historically that this is not gonna work. at least as a Greek i hope that even if the west all goes to hell again and do not learn from history.im hoping that we again focus ourselves to the east and get saved somehow . where at least there is still some hope culturally,in comparison with the depraved, and civilizationally degenerate, and ideologically neobarbaric west. east is not perfect by any means ,but there is still hope there.
Finlay Currie only had a single scene in this movie and he totally commands the screen.
This is presumably meant to be at some time in the middle of the 5th century AD, when Rome was attacked from the north by Germanic tribes. If so, it was about 150 years after crucifixion was abolished in the early 4th century, after Christianity became the empire's official religion. Therefore the idea of crucifying the Barbarian leaders would have been a nonsense.
what a magnificent set
The sceptics were right - letting the barbarians in was ultimately a disaster
the fall of rome is being repeated in europe, with the allowed invasion of the third world
Same is reason why Europe is fallen down! English stinky cowards came into Germany and made Fake-German Identities and destroyed Europe with their stinky culture. You English are no European!
But of course we know that Rome did not change and was destroyed by the enemies they so much feared.
So basically he wants to rape, murder, pillage all over the world but not recognize the sacrifices of any foreigners, even those that have voluntarily given up and agreed to give up their lives and work for the greatness of Rome, and treat them as lesser individuals instead? He was trying to preserve a bubble at the expense of that which lay outside it, and bubbles are fated to burst eventually.
All Great Civilizations Fail when they forget “ What Made Them Great “ ! We’re No Different - Fat -Happy - Lazy - Entitled folks most happy when Whining ? 🧐
They fell because of an Immigration crisis?? history repeats Itself. Moreover🤔 Made to repeat itself.
Lol the ancient Mediterranean empires always treated the Germanic tribes as war like barbarians. It's ironic that the Germanic tribes which calls itself "the west" appropriates to itself the legacy of these very empires!!! The same warlike barbarian traits have still not fully gone away, it appears!!!
Today nobody believe in the American dream anymore, it is impossible to buy a humble house anymore. So sad...how much I love my country.
Wow! the Democrat Party was exploiting aliens even back then.
This guy is a great republican. He understand that free markets work so much better than socialism (which is a form of slavery).
Boomer Romans let the barbarians in, and that was it for Rome
So the Romans spoke modern day English....interesting😂
As much as I always hated the pro Rome Roman senators in the scene my whole life, I see now they were right. They made the Northerners their army and gave them much but they kept demanding more and the original Roman empire (of the split two empires) was sacked by them.
Fall of American Empire, 2024 A.D.
At the pinnacle of Rome’s power, most “Romans” were poor or relegated to a lifetime of service in the army. This conversation is among elites that sense the outside world is beginning to surpass them and there are no good options.
And, ....then as now.....when too many have a voice in matters, nothing ever gets done. Corruption grows, but not the quality of life.
"tis better to go to war than to import the lessers" ~ MARCUS AURELIUS
It’s instructive for the current fall of the American empire. It’s imploding. There are no barbarians at the gates but there are enemies who hate American exceptionalism. It seems to be falling in on itself. 12 years of weak leadership - Obama/ Biden - where the Roman maxim, “if you want peace, prepare for war” was dismissed as macho nonsense. Obama wanted peace through inclusion, diplomatic DEI. James Mason delivered his lines beautifully but the first senator was right. In the end, Rome was sacked because it was weak. SAME WITH America. And it will be suddenly.
Eric Porter was a terrific actor
"When it's People no longer believe in it, then, then ! is when it dies !
Hmm, I think there’s a double entendre here.
What of the American Empire, its warring ways, its constant bombing?
