People just do not get it when I go drawing for 4-6 hours, and I am completely worn out after that. They think that drawing is not hard. But doing it with intense focus for that amount of time is exhausting. I just wish people would get it more, you know? Great video, love what you offer on YT. Keep up the good work.

This is so encouraging to see. I spent 12 hours yesterday trying to draw a smooth line in krita with my drawing tablet and I'm just not getting it. Very little art practice on paper. Just all around new. Thank you for sharing

I'm an evening or night person. I like to spend time doing things in the evening and I don't like going to bed early. I also have terrible trouble falling asleep often and I had this during my whole life. I am often very tired, but I kind of have my life built around it so it doesn't bother me too much. Maybe I should take it more seriously though, since I really want to improve my drawing skills faster :/

I gotta be honest, usually I click on an art advice video with a catchy title I either tune out after 5 min latest or speed click through it - not in this case. You're straight to the point and your explanations are well thought through and actually motivated me to draw more! And it's a nice little bonus that you have a wonderful voice! Honestly, you could read a telephone book and I'd listen! Looking forward to watching more of your stuff! =)

I think my problem is vice versa kind of i can draw the refrence just fine but when it comes to use my symboles that i am supposed to know im stuck i cant draw unless i see something in front of me. My left is locked my right is not how do i unlock the left😬🧐

Holy cow this is an amazing video, EXTREMELY helpful to me, thank you! I remember being frustrated through my whole year of art school, except for this one drawing session at the end of the year, in which I simply let myself just enjoy what I was doing without hating myself for not being as good as my art heroes. Perhaps, because I had failed to be a superstar artist, I let go of those lofty desires. I felt at peace and very satisfied with just putting forth effort. I think this is what you are talking about, so, this is extremely encouraging to me!

that is so interesting about the brain surgery and the phone. Really makes you wonder how much we do take in unconsciously, and how it shapes our symbols and concepts and how we feel. For the drawing, I would also add that it’s very helpful not to think of “lines” as much as shapes. Nothing in real life has a line delineating it. The real world is shapes and contours and light and shadow. When you draw lines you’re creating that illusion for the brain so it recognizes what it is. Practice line weight, it will open up a whole new world to you. I also start my drawings with the basic shapes and work into the particulars, like starting with a mass of clay and then carving away at it in finer and finer details. I think of the volume of those shapes,and try to translate it onto the page while imagining in my mind the 3D shape.

why did you only draw on one side of the notebook? it's not lik you're using one sided watercolour paper?
