I ordered a urine diverting insert and rigged one with a 5-gallon bucket and a toilet seat. I think the ones that are designed for that are the best. It was about $55 on amazon. I diverted into a very small trash can underneath the back part add a silicone water bottle for the front part which is pretty discreet to take into a restroom and dump in a toilet or outside

You can use 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat and put a cushion on the seat lid. Now you have an extra seat, and the toilet. I always think up ideas to make it work bc I am poor,so for me cheaper is better.

I have a shower tent I used with a bucket as bathroom, the tent can cost 30 bucks, but it gives you privacy to use the bucket next to vehicle,the shower tent foods down flat and pops up in 2 seconds just keep sanitizer for hands, I also use a pesticide container "new not used" it's 15 bucks,usecit for water to shower,you pump,wet body soap up and rinse. I use my pesticide container to shower,to do dishes,to have water on hand. Just only use it for water and you can fill it with gallon water, hose water, it sprays in mist I was able to get 3 showers out of 1 container of the water.

Nope, I bought a camping toilet and I dont use it, I also have a toilet in my camper,and I don't use it, it leaves a lingering smell, it's easier to use a lined bucket,and dispose of it. Campers you gotta pay to get rid of it, and camping toilets find a way to empty, the lined bucket is easier to deal with bc you dispose immediately after use most time.

I kept a bucket 🪣 for the longest in my truck the our family use and recently bought a OGO compost toilet only because it does separate the solid from liquid for a reasonable price. Can’t wait to see where you guys put it

THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL GET TO THE POINT OF WHAT YOUR FAMILY NEEDS ON THE ROAD IS TO START OUT WITH A WEEKEND TRIP, SEE HOW THAT GOES FIRST, SEE WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE WEEKEND , THEN EACH TIME MAKE THE TRIP LONGER, BATH ROOM IS A MUST NEED FOR LATE NIGHT OR EARLY MORNINGS. YOU ARE ON THE ROAD , SO THINGS CHANGE

They make very sturdy 1 gallon little trash cans that you can have on hand

The slow process will be amazing as time passes. Just remember, we can't take stuff with us at the end. If you believe you need it, but triple things r not needed. Limit a crate box for each child they will appreciate what they take each time on a trip. Remember there are only 7days in a week, so watch weather n only pack for that weather. I agree jeans can be used 2 days unless its a hot mess. Under garments need extra of course. Limit each a set up outfits for a week. Learn rolling up them also. If you use a dresser in the van, use a draw for each. (Not jackets or coat). Bathroom make a tpee n bucket privacy is important.

Definitely have an emergency toilet, even if you don't intend to use it. I think the cab area would be perfect with a curtain if it is needed ,when you can't set up something outside. Collapsible toilet would be great to stow away til needed.

Stop over thinking, it isn't that hard. Just do it. Get some cat stuff, yes you will need it. Do both use public, and step out of the van.

Bring it, and if you find you don't need it, give it away or sell it.

You should have the toilet and also it depends where yu at. in the city yu can go anywhere for restroom but outdoors in camping environment just for the family, Keep the toilet and like another comment said get a pop up tent for privacy .❤

Hello, i like u guys' determination. I believe in the times that we live in. You should keep stuff you most likely need. Now with the van... just essentials.maybe let kids take 2 or 3 fav. Items and 5 clothing. Bathroom situation can happen anytime not just at night. Take the bucket. Something will come together on the first trips but good yall think it out.

if anyone gets sick, everyone may, emergency squirts happen. When they do you need immediate toilet access.

Using the top of your van for storage would be ideal! And yes the portable toilet is a necessity! It can go in the front between the seats once parked. Using curtains for privacy the portable toilet will work out just fine! And as I mentioned in my reply to another supporter getting a van tent would give you’ll more space once parked and then the portable toilet can also have a place inside the tent. They have pop up tents that are very inexpensive and small enough to go over/around the toilet for privacy that would fit inside the tent extension! Blessings to your family! Oh also a little caboodle with a mirror would work for your daughter’s makeup. Also battery operated led lights will spruce up her little area!

Just take the stuff you need, the basics. Do 1 overnighter and sit there and make a list of the things you think you need. And than do that again until you have enough but not too much.

Make sure you stop "to go" right before bedtime. I always top off my gas tank and use gas station bathroom before settling down for the night. Also teach everyone to say something AS SOON as they are thinking they need so you can find somewhere.

Yes, you absolutely need some kind of toilet system. Also, have at least a couple of poles & a good tarp (connected to the van preferably) for an outdoor shaded & dry area to be, instead of 4 people cramped up in a van in the rain. Don't stress, you'll figure it out as you go.
