Hidden Pardo/Mulatto History Buried Underneath Blackness
มุมมอง 427หลายเดือนก่อน
The distinction is significant. There is a major difference between a black person and someone who is Pardo or Mulatto. Even in Brazil at the Afro Brazilian museum they highlight the distinction and the contributions of Pardos and Mulattos in Brazil. Distance Yourself from their Chaos and Confusion
I love this movie as well she was taught at the end how to love her mother but it was too late she have to live with it at the end that's why I liked it❤
Absolutely one of the most heartbreaking films I have ever seen. The mother did NOTHING wrong but try to love her daughter in a world that was set up to hate black people. The daughter just wanted to be happy, the mother wanted her daughter to be happy with her as her black mother, and everyone still misses the point....SOCIETY AND RACISM is the only true villain here.
How you gonna post this and think Sara Jane is in the right 😂
The movie is a really a docu-drama of the evil of the United States founding as a country built on the inhumane enslavement of kidnapped/trafficed African people, white supremacy and anti- black racism. The daughter demonstrates the toll it takes on the mind and spirit. The Mother demonstrates why black women are overdue real rest from serving everyone. The violent white boyfriend and employer are symbols of American hypocrisy. 400+yrs. This is the United States of America.
😭
One of the best films of all time 💫
Man, I cried soooo much watching this film. It tore me up 😢.
This movie is so crazy to me now that I’m a mom and people have literally questioned am I my daughter’s mother because of her skin color and me and her father are both black she just is fair skin and I mean very fair skin and can’t help it she doesn’t even tan. Some people don’t have that much melanin in their skin. But to question their own self is so ridiculous.
That was sad. I'm black, but I felt bad and empathized with both of them.
Some people hook on color
I seem this film when i was five or six years old this is a very sad movie it made me and my family cry all threw the film with Mahalia Jackson singing
All mothers in the world needs respect from their children.Whether white, black,or indian. It doesn't matter who you're. A mothers love is very important. She tried everything to disrespected her mother. You never missed the water till the well runs dry... Children don't matter color you're or your mum, we always stays close to our children... I love the movie....
I love this movie it made me cry 😢 u don't miss your well until it's dry 😭 if anyone has they mom living u are to thank God every day it's a blessing to have a mom like this lady my mom is stills living I know in the past years it wasn't all that but I still love her every day and I thank God for her every day thank you so much almighty God for my mo and siblings and nieces and nephews and my beautiful daughter who loves me more than money amen and amen 💯🙏🙏💖
This is a tear jerker.
This is the saddest movie I ever saw
😢
she dust drama free and happy !
Willie Lynch in the flesh! In the words of Hov, "Still N!&&@" !!! No matter how much some of them may hate to admit.
Love the picture movies it truth stay who you are never be ashamed of your color you are beautiful, srong and know that god love always ❤😢😢🙏🙏👍❤️
I’M ONLY 42 AND I HAVE NO IDEA 🤷🏾♂️ WHAT IM WATCHING BUT I DO RECOGNIZE WHAT BEING UNGRATEFUL IS AND THIS IS DEFINITELY A GOOD EXAMPLE OF IT RACISM WAS AND STILL IS AROUND SKIN COLOR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HEART AND AS LONG AS IT BEATS ITS COVERED WITH LOVE ❤️ SO APPRECIATE IT IF THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS
It's possible for mulattos to have identity. It should be black first and foremost. In America, there is a mix of ignorance as well as systematic racism that is at play. This is beacuse of slavery. We live in the aftermath. Whites will always feel better around lighter skinned blacks because it's closer to their complexion. In slavery, dark skinned people had the short end of the stick in every way compared to lighter skinned mulatto. Today there are parallels in black communities because blacks still experience harsher treatment than light skinned people. Lighter skinned inadvertently want to be as white as possible because of subliminal pressure and desire to be white. Different waves of jealousy(in different forms) from the black community against mulattos.White people see mulattos as black. Not every case is the same either. I believe in this country mulattos need to understand their black and how to function as a black. Even if they can pass for white because of America's racist history, that still continues today.
Yes one of my favs, along with Madam X, the first one.
I saw this when i was just a.little girl. Even at that age my heart bleed for her mama. The funeral.scene haunted me for years.
Women like Sarah Jane are grandmothers and mother in laws Evil benches! She learned to hate her mother’s brown skin from white people - Yet she was black! The white people in these comments blows mine acting like blacks started racism - You whites been mad since blacks stop working for free
This is the first time i saw this and it was heartbreaking, God bless her mother for always loving her no matter what.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
This is one of my favorite movies. Regardless of Sara Jane's racial identity crisis. She learned a valuable lesson... most times you only get one mother...and when she's gone that emptiness and regret will break your soul. ESPECIALLY if you were an 🫏HOLE to her!
The fact that this story had to be told, smh
Kinda sad
I LOVE being mixed! You get to learn about different points of view and cultures. That beautiful baby is 3/4 whites and 1/4 black.
🌱 Beautiful Symbolism 🙏🍎🍃
I saw imitation of life in middle school
It is people living like this today😢
Brilliant movie ❤
It's Megan Markle
No it's not.
One of my favorite movies😢
The irony of Annie being in a white casket and Sarah Jane being in all black when Annie died😢 Such a great movie
This goes on today. I know many who deny who they are just to fit in. Damn shame when you refuse to embrace who you are
Wow, the emotions I felt! Wow!
It does matter what colour the daughter is when her behaviour and attitude absolutely stink. Vile individual. But I sat here open mouthed to see that guy use the racist word then beat her down. That was a proper beating, I was shocked. Shows what society’s attitude in terms of domestic abuse was then. Appalling.
Today this movie breaks my heart 💔💔😢😢
This broke my heart
You can't build anything on a lie!!!!!
Oh my i love this movie
I watch this movie with my mother the night a bullet went through are window. I wish me and my mother’s relationship was better. I don’t want that to be our ending never.😢
My gran’s favourite film
One of my favorite movies of all time. My grandmother who would have turned 90 this year put me on to this movie when I was a young teenager. She raised me and she also loved Mahalia Jackson too. RIP grandma 🕊️🙏
She is a bad daughter, cause she is asshame of her mother, cause she is black.
