Grills and smokers don't necessarily need a tight seal around them. Airflow is good and gases that build up need to escape. There is a video somewhere that shows a smoker exploding due to gas build-up. I've never done seals or gaskets on any of my smokers and always had excellent results. Additionally, there are holes on the back of the grill to allow smoke to escape. You need the airflow to promote combustion and convection.

@@timmcmanus1645 Don't understand how so many people just don't get that. Seal it up and then complain about the smoker haha.
