I live in Cornwall, UK, so on my channel, I try to reflect this beautiful part of the country. I try to find the places that are off the beaten track as well as the places that are the go-to places for tourists.
My channel has been around since 2007 and I have covered many topics including socialism, atheism, and equality. In the mix are other places I've visited.
If you enjoy any of my stuff, please at least hit the thumbs up. Subscribing costs nothing but could also help my channel.

We took a stroll from Newlyn, along the coast to Mousehole. We went in search of the rockpool, rested on the fishermen's pier, walked the back streets of beautiful Mousehole, and rested awhile by the harbour beach. To mix things up, we walked back up a long, steep hill to the village of Paul, passed the Kings Arms, checked out the church, made our way through the hamlet of Trungle, and back via...

Porthkidney Sands are one of West Cornwall’s all year dog-friendly beaches with no restrictions. Even in high season, at its lowest tide, the beach is huge and there is room for everyone. Out of season, like in this video, it is the perfect space to let the dog run wild, and to take in the amazing vista of the Atlantic Ocean from this mid-point in St. Ives Bay. No real message here - just a spa...

@@sue2593 Thanks, Sue. Love to all the family! x
Beautiful walk!
@@Perroquet51 Thank you, Marc! Tehidy Woods were once the grounds of the Basset family home, the biggest mine owners in the area in the 1800s. They donated the 2500 acres of land to be used by the general public, and it gets very popular in the summer.
A Happy New Year...Sue
Brings back a few memories, used to go down to Devon & Cornwall in the 60s & 70s, Stayed in Dawlish in Devon a number of times , and stayed at the Towens Holiday Park Hayle in Cornwall a few times, thoroughly enjoyed it ,good times, wife & I in our 80s now and live in York North Yorkshire.
I have always loved Upton Towans Beach. It seems to go on at low tide forever, and my successive dogs have loved running around there! Thanks for commenting, Alan! 😊
Forward to 2024 😞 mass migration has dragged Northampton into a third world country so said! Great video tho.
Lovely video. I drive past there every time I go to Tesco's. It's a shame that most of the explanatory plaques around the great flat load area are ruined and they no longer keep the ivy and bracken in check around the buildings. Still a great place to take the dog for a walk.
@@nickwalters5380 Thank you, Nick. I think that there was an effort some years ago to make the site interesting for visitors but as you say, it now is lucky to have the paths kept clear. Such a shame really.
Fascinating. I keep comparing the beauty of the peninsula as it is now vs the ugliness of working underground in a mine and having to put your children to work for bits of change. Well done on this documentary Rob. Besides showing the gorgeous stonework, views and natural lushness now, you made the lives of those people so long ago, feel real. When you told about the mines closing - my hippy heart wanted to say 'hooray' but then I thought of those miners and their families having to figure out how to survive. What else would they have known how to do? Anything else would have required investment of some sort - fishing gear, farming equipment and seeds, wool and knitting needles, wood and tools to build things. It's not as though they had great educations, eh? Thank you for this.
Oh - I just yesterday watched a video of Simon, a bloke in the woods - on a visit to camp in Cornwall. He made pasties over a campfire with his home made camping oven. Made me think of you guys as he spoke of the area.
@@thizizliz Thank you for commenting. It was a hard life before and no doubt after the mines closed. It is still a high unemployment area. 🙁
Interesting video, thank you. I have been one of the foolhardy who have been exploring in the bowels of some of these mines, but in the days before the video equipment that is available today. Fascinating history.
Thank you so much for your comment! It is amazing to think that so many men spent their entire lives working underground. The Cornish are a tough breed! ☺

Thank you! It's a great walk! 🙂
Beautiful area, but there would have to be free chocolate at the top of those stairs to get me up them.
Haha! I think I need to eat a lot *less* chocolate to help me get up these cliff paths! Thanks for the comment, Marc! 😄 ❤
There was only one building there when I visited,it looks so tasteless now.
@@helenbenjafield7351 I am not a great fan of the "attractions" either. If they had to add anything, I think it should have been more in keeping with Cornwall, the sea, and Cornish life and its rich history. But I suppose Wallace and Grommet trumps that. 😊
Hi, enjoyed the video - never been to Trelowarren - looks interesting
Thank you. We were slightly disappointed that we couldn't get to see the main house, but the Fogou was worth the visit. 😊
In this video we passed Trebah Garden. We previously visited the garden and beach in this video: th-cam.com/video/O-7zrU_pANY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=P4KDDml1QL8aHYAz
What a lovely September adventure.
this reminds me of the computer screen some teachers have mostly
I really enjoyed this tour, Rob. Porthleven is a beautiful town. I like the copper men sitting around the village, and seeing all of the boats in the harbor. I got a really good laugh when you said "you can't have the dogs weeing on the lobsters." Beautiful video.
Thank you, Lee Ann! We are trying to enjoy the last of the summer. It has been a bad year for weather, with a lot of rain and fog. I feel sorry for holidaymakers who pay hundreds of pounds to stay when the weather is awful.
@@RobNorthampton Well, Rob, the way I see it is that's part of the charm of England. If people expect good weather when they visit, they should have gone to Mexico 🤣 Our weather is very iffy in San Francisco, and I feel sorry for visitors who try to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge in a tee shirt and shorts. It's cold and windy up there ❣️
@@genmama1955, I suppose I always imagine you having perfect weather, Lee Ann! I blame Karl Malden and Michael Douglas! 😊
@@RobNorthampton when I moved here, we were in a year's long drought, but in January 1978, it rained cats and dogs 30 out of 31 days. In San Francisco, it's foggy every night, and you hear the fog horns all night long for the ships either passing by or turning to go through the Golden Gate to dock. It's such a comforting sound. Where I live now I don't hear the fog horns, because I'm inland a good few miles (guessing 25 or so), but I'm still right on the water directly connected to the Pacific Ocean.
A great video! I was born in Northampton and it will always be my 'hometown' although I barely recognise the place these days when I visit.
Thanks for dropping by, Craig. This was my first attempt at a serious video when I bought my Hi8 camera. It seems very old and clunky these days, and at the time I uploaded them, TH-cam only allowed a maximum of ten minutes for uploads. I've lost the original footage so I can't re-upload.
wonderful trip, thanks :)

It was lovely to see your dog enjoying himself so much.
@@helenbenjafield7351 Thanks so much. He is only 10 months old at the moment so everything is new and exciting for him. 😊
Wow, so beautiful. I really do enjoy your travels around Cornwall.
Thank you, Liz! We initially went to seek out a new place to let the dog run around, but it became more of an expedition! I dragged my camera bag out of the car and here we are! ☺ xx
Looks like most of the houses / buildings have been around since 1675 too... Knock them down and build modern structures. Dang that "listed" status. It's why the UK is known for ugly buildings.
I'm sure the old buildings must cost a fortune to heat with the recent hike in energy prices! :)
@@RobNorthampton a perfect example of what a "listed" status does is st. Edmunds hospital. It's listed so can't be knocked down ... So it has to fall down by itself. That land could be used for a modern apartment block.
Oh it is so nice when a dog can run off the leash and behave well when other dogs appear. It was obvious that he was having a great time too - such beautiful country and a nice walk before the beach. Lovely. Say, Rob - did you sneak in one of your paintings at 16.21?? We reached a high of 106F (41.111C) with nary a cloud in the sky, so I wanted to walk in that water too! LOL.
Yes, we are lucky that even though "silly season" is upon us, the Towans remain largely unexplored by most visitors. And, no, I didn't put any paintings in the mix but thank you for thinking my paintings are even vaguely photographic, Liz! ☺❤
How fun!! Not only to find you in my subscription list but to be at the beach too. Lovely. Oh that little cave surely had a lot of beautiful colors too. 8.30 am here and 83F (28C) and I'm about to make breakfast.
Thanks Liz! Today is even windier so we are tramping through our local Tehidy Woods. The trees shield us from the wind but we get the sun between them. And Jago goes crazy running in the woods. He loves it! 😄
lovely vid., miss North Devon and Cornwall and old maties! much love from sw ireland. xx
Thanks for your comment, Sandy! 😊
Srt and dna doesnot allow wrong body...
That's an interesting point! SRT and DNA are definitely crucial in determining our body's functions and characteristics, but gender identity can include pre- and post-natal hormone levels and genetic makeup. Occasionally, the hormones that trigger the development of biological sex may not work properly on the brain, reproductive organs and genitals, causing differences between them.
Hi Cute puppy U have there 🙂 he is a sprocker which is a springer spaniel cocker spaniel? They are lovely dogs I got one 🙂.
Thanks, yes, he's a working cocker, but he doesn't work. 😊
Beautiful woods!
How lovely! I found myself imagining you painting all the views. It seems like your kind of landscape. I did however, chuckle when you began speaking of Bassets - I thought of the dogs and was confused for a moment. :D It's a beautiful place and a great one in which to walk. Thank you for a lovely moment in the country. And OMG that estate!!!
Thank you, Liz! Tehidy is very popular with dog walkers so we often find ourselves in conversations with people. Dogs are great icebreakers. Lady Basset also bought Illogan woods nearby solely for the use of local people. It was stipulated that it must always remain as woodland, but locals could use the dead wood for their fires.
Don’t play music mate 😢

Walked along the pier many times......such a lovely place and especially in summer months...am so lucky to live a matter if a few miles from here.....So blessed....even at times like these...thank you for sharing this great video....👍👍🤗
My favourite place on this earth
Brings back memories when I used to live there
This is a place we know well, and it is a pleasure to see and hear it. If I may ask a favour, please lose this music, all of it. Best wishes.
Stunning footage mate, ive seen some proper beasty tides down there 😍😍 we had a fairly bug one in bude too
Cornwall has been taking a battering in the past few months. Here's hoping for sunnier weather! 😊
Waves in the harbour was nothing more then a swell.not what I’d call rough.if you feel unsafe then don’t venture to the waters edge.when you get a high tide and a big swell.then you will get waves lapping over the prom etc.i live right by the sea .and sea this every day..storms etc in the uk is nothing new.don’t no why people get so excited.
Great video thanks for sharing. Stay dry
Thank you, Jeff! That is always my aim! 😄
Thanks for the beautiful pictures, hope u didn’t get too wet 🫶🍀🇬🇧
Thank you, Steph. No, I just got an unexpected shower. The electronics in my camera started flashing on and off but settled down soon after, thank goodness! 😄
Ruined by the unnecessary music!
Thank you for commenting.
For years we holidayed in Porthleven. One year we stayed in a cottage called Kelynac. Past the clock tower and the larger cottages. To set the scene: There was a lane in front of the cottage, over the lane, through the gate were quite a few steps down to the garden which overlooked the sea. A postie once told us that the weather was so bad that the waves went over the actual cottages. We love Porthleven but like most places it's changed a bit. The pastie shop on the left opposite the harbour and does lovely pasties. We're off to Padstow in a couple of days to stay in a friend's caravan but shall visit Porthleven and have a pastie. If we eat in the pub, lovely food we'll have to take the pasties back to Padstow😂
Thank you for commenting. Porthleven is the largest town on that southern coast and often gets the worst of the weather. However, when the weather is fine, it sometimes feels warmer as it is sheltered from the north coast's winds. I hope the weather improves for your time at Padstow. It is only a short walk along the clifftop to Harbour Beach if it's sunny. And I agree with you that Philps pasties are one of the better ones. As the Cornish say, "They're 'ansum!" 😄
The waves in the harbor are scary, amazing, and beautiful. I'd love to live by the sea. Great footage Rob. Your video inspired me to actually sign-in to my TH-cam channel for the first time in 7 years so I could comment. I have some catching up to do. :)
Thank you for commenting, Steven! I think it has been at least that long since I uploaded anything to TH-cam, but since moving to Cornwall I've jumped back into making videos of the area, so I had to jump-start my TH-cam and push it in a different direction! I've made half a dozen or so but I want to make more. I have new cameras and a drone but we have had so much wet weather that I haven't been able to use them much. Roll on summer! 😊
Coverack not at its best! Not a soul in sight.A very depressing video!!
I guess Coverack decided to take a day off too! Maybe it was all a part of its master plan to create the ultimate 'ghost town' vibe? 😂
You sound as though you need to sit down having walked up the steps to the church!!!I know Coverack so well!! I'm Cornish not many locals left in Coverack!!! Remember the post office when it was open!!You should have visited in a few weeks time when the sun is hopefully shining!😅
Thank you for sharing your memories of Coverack! It’s always great to hear from locals who have such a rich history with the place.
Love the photograph @ 6.59 - Wandsworth High Street in 1880. This very photograph is on page 50 of the book 'A Cockney Camera' by Gordon Winter (1971). The last sentence of the caption reads: 'Notice that the two women with umbrellas are using them as parasols.' In case it's not immediately apparent, one of the women is in the centre and the other is on the extreme right.☂️
