I picked one of these up for $10 at an estate sale today. I was curious about cartridge upgrades, so I was happy to see that yours is much better than the one that was installed on mine. I’ll see if I can find a bargain upgrade.

The D-E220 is from 2001. I had a red one back in the day and bought it that same year it came out. The D-EJ016 is the newer model of the three. It came out in 2005.

This Yamaha DSP A 1000 is an absolute sound beast- I have 2 of them. The main Level knob at the back is really useful if you use this amp as a preamp to a power amp, just try and you will be amazed with the sound quality.

    • @reidabney2915

I'm using one that I found a few years ago it left brand new The remote still had the plastic on it.I use it as a preamp Can you explain the volume control on the back if it's worth I'm going pull this thing out and check it out

    • @ranjijm
      @ranjijm 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@reidabney2915 That volume control is the Main Level-OUT control to turn on/drive a power amp. you can use this volume control only when you use the DSP amp as a pre-amp. So, if you pull out the 3 couplings, then you can see the RCA female jack sockets as Out and In under Main ( the 3rd coupling belongs to the RCA of Line Out of Centre and just pull out that coupling as well). I am not sure of your sound quality taste but mine is far out, which means I use both digital (via a Rotel DAC) and analog sources as inputs to the DSP- then from the DSP- I use a line out -using RCA Main Out ( as said above) and that Line OUT straight goes into a Line IN of an Equalizer- then the sound comes OUT from the equalizer to the Power Amp. this is the time that you can use that volume. If the volume of the back of the DSP is too low then the power amp does not turn on. My main concern is the quality of the sound. Just rap up- Both digital and analog sources IN to the DSP-then Main OUT from the DSP to the IN of the equalizer-Line OUT from the equalizer to a Line IN of the power amp- then sound out from the power amp to speakers. simply Amazing.

the 3 leads AV cables have different standards. there's a great video made by vwestlife testing a couple of them. you might want test plugging mismatching colors to have it working properly.

Yes you do. What he did might help a little, but for shielding to be actually beneficial it needs to be grounded on one end or the other. I recommend only grounding on one end though to prevent the possibility of ground loops.

Sony missed the boat though. They should have had the machine scan the disc and allow you to choose a track. Thr technology existed by this time.

Regardless if the native format on the Laser Disc is analog composite if S-Video is sharper and cleaner out than the composite out, then thats the way to go. Basically the S-Video is showing a cleaner image of the native analog composite then the composite output. Also you could probably clean up the image even more by using Hi Quality Gold Plated S-VIdeo Cables. The colors can be adjusted with the TV or Monitor. When it comes to video quality you want the cleanest image first then adjust for color, brightness and ect. on the TV or Monitor.

I got a VGA extension cable as extension for a Fostex D90 before i tried it i got my multi meter out and the pins are completely the wrong way round opposite for continuity on each side of the connector. I couldn't get it wrong because i know by the shape of each side only fits one way when testing it. Needless to say i tried it and it didn't work did i get a bum cable on ebay i cut one end open and only 8 wires

As people have suggested... The native video format on the disc is analog composite. The comb filter cannot do better than the actual quality of the signal in the disc.

If you think about it, it really is awesome that for a brief time channel 3 or 4 analog exists once again as that carrier is added. And then i assume the tv shifts it to an IF then to demodulate it

Few notes: these aren’t clones, Technics actually produced these for JC Penny, also, the numbers at the bottom were for stacking records, not repeating, if you had the spindle you could stack 6 records

Just pick up one off eBay while I was looking for vintage Sony radios and one of these came into the feed. I got it for about $30. including shipping, so I couldn’t pass it up for just the cool factor. They said the ratio works and the tv turns on but only show this lines. I used to have a Sony handheld portable tv and used to live that thing and I think it was color and also had a radio. I now want to track one down. Lol! Oh. The one I’m getting is the FD-500 and looks just like the one you shown. Maybe they just changed the number or slightly updated?

I bought that one brand new from my local Radio Shack back in the day as a young teen and I still use that exact model to this day! It was the last 8-track model Radio Shack offered so it is actually a collectable item so I will not be getting rid of my player anytime soon after all these decades! Nice find, enjoy! ~ Jeff

Got one for five bucks at a thrift today. Looks to have the original cartridge. Stylus has to be replaced. I've probably got a vintage Shure that I can replace the OE cartridge with as I don't like the original. However the tonearm return does not work in the platter continues to spin when it's in the tonearm rest. Reject button does not work either I think all of this is related to the same issue. Speeds are perfect though. I'm hoping it's just a typical problem with these old turntables needing a cleanup and Lube job.

That was the turntable I had and it was great. It was easy to use (about as easy as playing a CD), used a P-Mount cartridge so replacing the cartridge was easy, and sounded fairly good. I liked that I didn't have to touch the tonearm since I was concerned about dropping it badly on the LP/45. The only issue was when you were playing transparent LPs. I had a friend who had an LP that he wasn't able to play the full side, the stylus would come down about half-way through the side. I put it on my turntable and had the same issue. I happened to hold the record up to the light and noticed that although it looked like black vinyl, it was actually clear red vinyl. Once I knew that I figured out that the light sensor used to sense the size of the LP was passing through the LP, causing the turntable to think it was a 7" record. The solution was to manually drop the stylus on the LP, then it played perfectly, you just couldn't play it automatically. When I saw that LPs and 45s were being phased out I decided to buy a good turntable while there was a good selection. Unfortunately when I moved it didn't survive the trip. Excellent video, it was good to see that turntable again. I hope that someday Sony would release an updated version of this turntable but it is probably unlikely.

@joelsdiy9469 Is this the stereo that I recall remembering from back in the day? Is this the stereo that has the eject button in order for the door of the CD player to move forward toward you, making the door open upward, meaning that when the CD door opens, it flips down? Also, my family's home stereo was a pioneer. If this isn't the stereo that I remember from the mid 90s, let me ask you this? Have you ever seen a stereo smiliar to this where the CD door flips down when opening it, and it has a carousel CD changer? So let me explain all this buddy. So the 25 disc changer I remember, that looks similar to the one in this video, it has 25 slots. All CD slots sit inside the main unit. So if you put all 25 CDs in their individual slots in the carousel CD changer, and push the CD door up, what happens is, you can hear one of the CDs drop into a slot when the carousel mechanism of the unit moves and roates, when, changing to CD 10 for instance. so i wam wondering if this unit has all 25 slots sitting next to each other. Also, my family's old pioneer unit had this unit, plus the top unit that was a double cassette deck. that was an auto-reverse unit. plus, our unit, came with these big ass speakers. do you remember a home stereo like this, even the one i described? where the stereo came with a second unit with 2 cassette decks? and a set of 2 5 foot tall wooden speakers with that old school cloth grill? And my god, were the speakers on my family's old 90s Pioneer home stereo very good? with a woofer and tweeter built into each speaker. super loud too. my guess, 200 watts altogether. huge volume knob was in the center of the main console of the CD changer unit. very rumbly when changing discs while the discs were loaded in the unit. but yeah bro let me know if this stereo has the same feature i told you about, where there are 25 disc slots that are sitting smudged together in a carousel style in the main unit. where a CD would drop into a slot when changing discs while the main door unit is closed. and if this isn't the model, what model is that pioneer unit with that feature? god i miss my family's old home stereo. sadly, the speakers went out years later, in the mid 2000s. 2004, or 2005 I believe. after all the jamming out in our old apartment we lived in long ago in the mid 90s. lol. great stereo though bro. love it.
