My latest original song that I finished writing a few days ago, felt today was the best day I could post a sad heartbreak type song, since it marks what would have been mine and my ex-wife's anniversary. The timing wasn't planned but it worked perfectly I suppose lol.

      @@Wobbz9413 and I say there was no lawsuit in the video as I tell the documented story behind the myth in the video that you obviously didn't watch, citing that they instead received a cease and desist letter. The era of guitars in which it was made however is known as the "Lawsuit Era" due to the number of Japanese guitar companies that did have legal action threatened, such as Ibanez, and others even actually being sued, such as Aria. Please actually watch before attempting to criticize, otherwise the only "rubbish" that remains is your comment 😉

    If it can’t stay in tune, it’s definitely not a real D 45. My 1975D 45 stays in tune for several months at a time. And then it’s only a minor adjustment at that.

  • @urwholefamilydied
    @urwholefamilydied 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Because it's a 300-400 dollar guitar. An actual D45 is a TEN THOUSAND dollar guitar. You need to compare it to other 300 dollar guitars. And you have to admit that a lot of people are buying these things because you get to live in pretend land as if you own the real thing.... placebo goes a long way. It looks the part and it sounds decent from the reviews i've seen. It's not far off from comicon people doing cosplay. There's very few people who can own a higher end Martin... this kinda scratches an itch. Maybe the same itch that people who buy nice models of their dream cars that they could never afford. Like a $200 model car of some 60's Ferrari. I'm definitely curious... certainly wouldn't mind trying one out. Right now my "nice" guitar is a Yamaha. Having some highly decorated acoustic that says Martin and looks like a high end Martin would definitely be fun to mess around with.

    Dude, sounds like they are too many guitar brands you have not played yet to actually be able to call yourself an expert. You need more experience, I am an amateur and have easily played way more brands than you. Collings, larrivee, maton, are too important brands to not know them.

Since this video, I've played many more brands, but nobody is ever really an expert on matters like this, there's far too many brands to play them all, and my tastes attract me to certain instruments when I'm in stores.

    Agree 100% but for the J45 comparison. I've owned 7 Gibson J45 of various stripes - standards to Banners - and the IBG J45 I have is exceptional and in a blind test I would have a hard time telling the difference in sound. I may have wound up with an extra good one, but it's scary close if not equal to, a USA Gibson. The Humingbird is just as you describe - the IBG J200 doesn't really do much for me at all. But to that end, I recently played a late 50's J200 and expected something great - it wasn't great at all. It comes down to the individual instrument of course.

    HI Brian ,Loved your review, the Hummingbird sounds incredible. Your bang on this hummingbird is the best Epiphone (inspired by Gibson) period ever made, as good as any Gibson Hummingbird USA and thousands less in dollars.....I bought mine in late 2019 at Long & McQuade in Canada, and could not believe how good it was, the set up, the detail, tones, and quality build and lastly that Gibson sound..wow.... Unfortuntley this same model today is now currently been manufactured in China for the Hummingbird since late (2023) its lost its mojo and quality build.... So sad as the quality is NOT the same and their price increased well over $1350 Canadian. ..I read that many of the early Hummingbirds Epi' acoustics for example, their tone woods, parts, etc., were supplied and exported by Gibson to Epiphone, Indonesia from the Nashvilleplant to their Master Bilt factory overseas. In conclusion these are really Gibson quality build Epiphones or close to it... If anyone can find an early Hummingbird grab it, it's the best kept secret a very collectible instrument made by Gibson for Epiphone...... ...

I changed my stock strings to elixir phosper bronze 12-53 and this thing is a cannon. I was going to upgrade the pickup to a LR baggs anthem (400$) but honestly it sounds great plugged in running into my Empress ParaEg Mark2 Deluxe, i cant imagine it sounding much better but i still might upgrade the pickup eventually to get the best sound possible. Change the string gauge

    • @brianmccullar141
      @brianmccullar141 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The owner of the guitar actually saw this video and asked me to not only change the strings but do a full set-up on the guitar afterward. So I went and cut a brand new bone nut, carved a new bone saddle that was actually intonated, set the action perfectly, straightened the neck as best I could (truss rod absolutely sucked), filed the fret ends, polished the frets and put on his preferred gauge of D'addario XS coated strings. Even after ALL of that, the guitar still sounded sub-par relative to even the $400 price range, being inferior to Ibanez Artwood acoustics, Washburn acoustics, Alvarez acoustics and Yamaha acoustics. It sat for so long, that he eventually had to mark it down to $150 just to move it, and then it finally sold to a guy wanting a campfire guitar. The moral of the story is no matter how badly people want these guitars to be good because they want the look of a Martin and the appearance of owning one, they simply are not high-quality or even high-value instruments. The world is full of amazing, low-cost guitars, but this is not one of them. I will say this, for anyone considering a fake Martin, a fake Gibson, or a fake Taylor, don't do it. Stop letting the name on the headstock have any kind of power or sway in your mind, and instead focus on the playability and sound of the instrument. Get an Ibanez, Washburn, Yamaha, Alvarez, AMI, Blueridge, Eastman, Applause, Epiphone or Seagull and play. These fake instruments will not only NEVER be as good or even close to as good as the real deal, but they aren't even half as good as the inexpensive instruments you can buy at the entry-intermediate level from a retailer.

    I've nothing against legitimate Chinese made guitars. Many decent products are manufactured in China whenever production operations are managed by the actual company and not just left to local managers & administration. With all that said, knockoff guitars are largely garbage. Their production has zero consistency and quality control, and they often warp and produce alignment issues over time

      I would disagree. For one, my comments in this video said nothing about buying American made, I mentioned that someone would be better off buying an Ibanez Artwood, Washburn, Blueridge or Eastman. All of which are made in China as well and all of which sound, feel and play better. This guitar has poor fretboard radiusing, poor tuning stability, sharp fret ends, a sloppy glue job (tons of glue can be seen all over the inside of the guitar), extremely poor intonating and it doesn't feel good to play. China makes numerous good guitars, but this fake Martin is absolute garbage.

    Have one that was built and purchased within the past year that looks even nicer than yours and sounds absolutely wonderful. The luthier is extremely experienced and offers many beautiful, exotic solid wood pairings. Since yours was built in 2018 and obviously damaged somewhere along the way, this review is unfair. Protruding fret ends, as well as the surface cracks, could be the result of poor humidification and/or handling.

    • @brianmccullar141
