    don't forget to find gamers to help with that as well. Some gamers have great imagination as well and just love to play not dm. so if you have a sesh once in a while that is a world building sesh with everyone you have lots and lots of players who would love to give a few ideas. and it would be so much fun to be playing and see your idea show up in a future dungeon.... just saying don't miss an opportunity.

  • @tarakelly6

    well you are in luck because it looks like the new campaign has lots and lots of druids.

  • @tarakelly6
    @tarakelly6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    maybe don't end the campaign so soon. what is wrong with a campaign that goes until after all the hexes are explored? Are you afraid of having a long campaign? why have an end date to a campaign? And when your gamers want to stay in the area of the campaign and make a life there. why do you have to ruin it with mind flayers and beholders? why why why???

    If side to side then they would have one movement they would have either 3 or 4 legs but they can't move independently. but I would then give them their own action bonus action reaction. they have their own thoughts and actions. and if you watch any video's of conjoined twins they walk run skate all kinds of things together. however if they are joined at the back I would give them half movement. if at the chest they may have to share actions bonus actions. I would want to know the position of joining first. then make my decision. but I would let them sounds like fun.

      @cdleachxiii วันที่ผ่านมา

      @tallpaulig Precisely! I want a rogue who had both parents, one a paladin of the kingdom the lived in and the other something that allowed the rogue to live an easy life. The reason they became a rogue is because they aren't as physically strong as their parents and tended toward tricks and street skills growing up to help their friends out of tight situations. A rogue that knows the love of the people around them and is willing to use their sneaky stab stab skills for everyone's benefit, not just their own.

    ANY of the divine or full caster classes. I see plenty of marshal and half-casters, but I see so few Druids, Paladins, Clerics, Sorcerers, Warlocks, and Wizards. And I think part of it is that my players just don't want to commit to a class that comes with expectations on their character's behavior beyond being a sellsword.

As theg level they can binder with more spirit and more powerful ones. Additionally find them is alot had than spells, needing 4 different peices of information to create the ritual.

    Hobgoblin devastators !!! Cr4 intimidating blaster casters . They’re one of the most versatile monsters in the game especially if you just change the species and add the affiliated species features. At levels 2-3 , they’re a big bad. At levels 4, they’re a great solo monster . Levels 5-6 they’re a great leader of lesser enemies. At level 10 and up, they’re still scary in moderate numbers. Even at level 20, a small handful of them are dangerous when supporting a stronger leader . A great in between from the grunts and the boss of the encounter . Highly recommend using them and changing the species to whatever is needed for the context . “ oh shit , devastaters!!!” Is something a dm can hear at any level of the game aside from level 1 and 2 . Specifically the ones before mmom but the new ones Are fine as well I guess

    This should be how you approach all of D&D as a player or DM.

  • @ParkerKent-r7z
    @ParkerKent-r7z 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I build the world as we play, I can spend hours anywhere, I can run an entire 3 year campaign solely at any place you can think of without having the players ever leave if they choose not too.

  • @ParkerKent-r7z
    @ParkerKent-r7z 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The smallest amount of prep is finding out where the players see themselves in the world and go from there. Prep? As in write an adventure ahead of time? Why would you do something like that? What a rigid and terrible thing to do.

  • @ParkerKent-r7z

    First step to improve your games: is don't run modules.

    No thank you, I can not tell you how many times people have come up to me because they have this new cool idea for a game or bad guy. For me feign enthusiasm when I really want to say: It has all been done before you have no new ideas, just because they are new to you does not mean they are new.

  • @ParkerKent-r7z
    @ParkerKent-r7z 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    There is nothing preventing you from changing them.

  • @ParkerKent-r7z
    @ParkerKent-r7z 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Put this book down, there is nothing in it that has not been done at least 100 times before. There is nothing new it has all been done, so just take from them and twist it to fit your world as this book surely has done. Use your own imagination to slightly change things you have seen, read, or experienced and make it fit. There is never nothing going on even when there is nothing going on.

    What kind of footwear matters A LOT not just for exhaustion but for traction. Have them roll a die to see if they slip if their character isn’t used to snow

    • @tallpaulig

      Love it. Preparation matters, too. Do you have snow shoes?

    • @brewski0277
      @brewski0277 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ the type of snow matters too for that, powder needs larger snow shoes, pack doesn’t need as big, wet snow needs traction. Historical shoes may not have metal studs on all shoes available at market for traction on mud or really any off road walking. Etc. I don’t have snowshoes but I have historical shoes and boy do you need to walk differently in those sine they don’t have tread. You don’t push off with your toes as much since it’ll slip. It’s all about how much you wanna get into it and how much your character is adapted to the climate/ conditions and the cultures clothes they’re wearing

    Pathfinder 2e is a more well rounded game. Pathfinder 1e is more crunchy and adaptable to different rulesets. Planet mercenary is fun and hectic, requiring only 5 minutes to make a new character after the previous one got hit by a flying car.

    Savage Worlds, if you're really big into hacking your dungeons and dragons game, Savage Worlds is a general role playing system that is meant to be the base of a ton of different games. Also it is a classless games system but can easily have classes integrated into the system. Star Wars rpg is good if you want to move away from levels but still want to have something that feels like classes and if you enjoy the Star Wars universe. Pathfinder is free to check out through the srd which is how it has to comply with ogl/orc rules by having all the rules but little fluff freely available.

    ask them if have a story in mind or if they want to just run anything if its anything then give them a module to run if its a specific story get the basics of it from them and select a module that best fits the scope of the game they want to run and have them adapt it, and if you and them are ok with you running a passive PC (don't solve any puzzles or meta game at all) then help them design the first few play sessions so they can get their feel for running

    • @DentZilber
      @DentZilber 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@justanotherdave4835 I kinda like this approach as well. It gives them the opportunity to try it out and at the same time it's "on rails", so to speak. I think it ultimately depends on what they're looking to get out of it. I tend to first have them help me set up encounters and play as an NPC while also helping out with some RP and story progression to "shadow" as a DM. I also encourage them to keep a kind of plotline journal to hold notes or ideas for plot devices or encounter ideas.

    Ask them, "what kind of story do you want to tell? Roughly how do you see it playing out?" Whatever story idea they come up with, "Congratulations, you're a DM. Think a bit on the encounters you want to show off but the rest really comes from the players. Here are the tools i like to use, if you need a hand I can offer advice and help."

    I would say if you wanted to highlight cooperative story telling first and foremost than engage with a small town that has some dark mystery bubbling up nearby. Give DM some quests and tips on how to make them feel more like found quests rather than forced ones. Give the players engaging combat with multi-layered battle fields and maps. Then I would throw in at least a couple of dungeons, one short and one long, where the players can get some big and iconic magic items. Finally wrap it all off with some classic bbeg betrayal like. “the witch that has been infecting the town with disease was actually the kindly tavern keeper the whole time!” Gives room for lots of drama and character expression, which definitely helps sell D&D to NEWER players. Only downside to mysteries is they lack the same impact the second time. To mitigate that you could just say the witch is one of the towns folk and let the DM make a pick.
