Welcome to Fin2Fin Aquariums, my name is Mick and what started as a few tanks here and there is now a dedicated fish room.
I hope to be able to take people along as we set the room up and make changes to eventually being complete, I am also setting up a large outdoor area for ponds where I Breed tropical fish outside through summer. Please stick around and check out our content, please feel free to comment as I always welcome feedback good or bad, I am learning as I go and I'm sure making plenty of mistakes but we will get there in the end.
Thanks for the support it's truly appreciated.

We haven't added new Racks, tanks, Fish and so on to the list as it wouldn't be pretty, what it shows me with what we currently have and the expansion in full swing that we can and should easily cover o...

I have bred to many fish already in the outdoor ponds, with around 3 months still to go in the outdoor tubbing i am at a dangerous level of fish. I need to start catching fry so these tubs don't get overcrowded but I also need to get this fry up to a size that I can sell them to fish shops or fellow hobbyists, I am going to sacrifice the new breeding rack just set up in the fish room and use 8 ...

New Year New Rack in the Fish Room, now to decide what New Fish i want 🤔
มุมมอง 1.8Kวันที่ผ่านมา
First video for 2025, another new 12 tank rack built now to decide on what fish I want to add to the fish room. I am thinking of cichlids but concerned with the tanks size being too small, if you are a cichlid keeper, please let me know what fish might be suitable to keep in tanks of this size.

Those Panduro Apistos look killer!
@later_daze_4080 yeah they are super nice, one of my favourites for sure
Happy to take some off your hands fish for test delivery. Im in Brisbane .
@ranijurgensen7896 no worries, once I'm ready to freight I'll do a rest run and send up to Brisbane.
fantastic setup! looking forward to see how you get rid of all those fish and the expansion!
@MyAfricanCichlidTank thanks mate, yeah a busy few months ahead I think.
Any way you can turn off the air while you film? The audio is always rough, though your voice is coming through better on this video.
@deebocee6348 yeah I certainly could, I'll try and remember next video I have ordered a little microphone so hopefully get that soon also.
Fare, as I have seen over TH-cam, most people are using ibc as grow outs. An have everything on float values for water top ups. The more water to fish and feed as much as you can and the big water changes. Also, with your system, I be looking at adding water change system help. Just troll TH-cam as much as you can look into everything there so many ideas out there man
@khyheslop9433 yeah I think once the room is complete I'll most likely look into how I could set up auto water changes, yeah looking into some IBCs now, think they will definitely solve the grow out problems
G'day Mick, another cracking video! Great to see the room has turned a profit - even if it’s modest, it’s all heading in the right direction with everything you’ve got growing in the tubs and tanks. 🐠 It’s inspiring to see how much effort you’ve put in and the variety you’ve got going. We’ve been following along with interest because we’re looking at starting something similar (on a much smaller scale) in our spare room. We’ve got a bunch of planted tanks scattered around the house with discus, clown loaches, rams, swordtails, corys, tetras and guppies etc. Lately, we’ve been swapping some of our guppy offspring at the local shop for fish food and plants (no cash yet), but with the guppies breeding like… well, guppies... we figured it’s time to give it a bit of a go! Planning to start small with guppies, cories and shrimp while we slowly gather the gear - tanks, shelves, pumps etc.. We’re just south of Adelaide, so if you’re keen on a closer-to-home test run for deliveries, give us a shout! We’d be happy to help out and throw in some cash as well. Thanks again for sharing the journey - your setup is both a goal and an inspiration. Looking forward to the next update. Keep up the awesome work! 🎉
@MJAquariums thanks mate, yeah would be great to send to Adelaide first for a bit of a test run while I find my feet. Being in Adelaide you should do well with the Fish ships and private sales for sure, if your ever up this way for any reason let me know and pop in for a coffee.
@@Fin2FinAquariums Thanks, Mick! Really appreciate the invite and the encouragement. We’d definitely be keen to help out with a test run when you’re ready - sounds like a great way to sort out the logistics before scaling up. And we’ll absolutely take you up on that coffee if we’re ever up your way - would be awesome to see the fish room in person and have a yarn. Same goes if you’re ever down Adelaide way - happy to show you our current tanks and the new little setup once it’s up and running.
So, what will be your solution to overpopulation? What options are there other than selling some?
@dankslug what I'm doing now is separating adults to slow some down, the egg layers I have just stopped collecting eggs so they are easy the livebearers tend to keep breeding but I'll also lower the feeding a bit to help slow them a bit also. If I bring them inside they slow down also as a lot of fry gets eaten by the adults, out in the ponds they have so much weed to hide they have a high survival rate.
If you need a test delivery for Melbourne I'd be happy to help and I'd donate the money to charity 😊
@chefsteve8381 yeah mate when I get myself sorted I'll let you know and send a few fish and see how they go.
👍 that's what I would like to do. I would have to sale on line. Pets stores in America for some reason don't really want individuals fish. You have a great setup. Thanks for sharing
@markfranklin8831 thanks mate, yeah I really need to get a website and ship around the state at worst and to other states even better.
to do list : 1) sell more fish, 2) sell more fish, 3) sell more fish, then more grow out tanks 🤣
@damianmartin15 🤣 I'm terrible mate I have so much I could move on and haven't even advertised it 🤦♂️

What is the big brown leaf you have in the tank?
@@Flyingthundergod4 might be the Indian almonds leaf, I use them with shrimp and appistos and a few other fish
I breed discus & koi I got 12 ponds 4 koi 5 tanks growing out dlscus just found your channel ty
@user-qx2jq5zi6h love the discus, haven't tried my luck with them yet but wow they are awesome
Take some tubs inside shed
@7602sm I don't have a shed sadly at this house, wish I did although that would make me just keep more lol. I am going to clean out the garage eventually and utilise some of that for larger tubs for summer to assist with grow outs
I always struggle at the end of the summer with young fish and fry coming out of my ears and sometimes don't know what to do with them all. I have to keep it to 4 tubs/ponds. I have started to get very selective and I have to hold myself back at the start of the summer.
@mattkinsella9856 yeah I'm going to have to do something similar I think, scale it down a bit.
@Fin2FinAquariums It becomes a game of favourites. Narrowing it down to the favourites of the favourite strain of the favourites type and then being very very strict with yourself. To be honest I've managed to refine my own strain of guppy this way and planning to send some to international guppy shows next year. So that's become the interest, rather than going for numbers. It's very difficult to do though, something else always catches my attention. I would love to expand to dwarf Gourami for example but I have to work on a "1 in, 1 out" policy.
Do you do mail orders ?
@chefsteve8381 hi Mate. At this stage I haven't freighted any fish I definitely what to in the future just want to make sure I can do it safely and properly from out location
@@Fin2FinAquariums Happy to help as a trial to Vic. I'm going to come across this issue in the future with my set up and would be happy to order some as a test from you
I have a couple of ibc tanks, they hold huge volume of water and you can drill them to make water changes easier, it's definitely worth a look, and there cheap, just make sure that there food grade ones
@LJaquariums yeah I'm looking at some now, would be great to drop a heap pf Fry in for the last few months of summer to get their size up.

That’s a crazy amount of tanks/ work 😂😂 Do you still keep reptiles as well?
@paulstingray yeah keeps me busy, Na mate All the reptiles went, got 2 albino Darwins left and that's it these days.
Shell dwellers, either multifasciatus or aimilis, caudopunctatus, lamprologus ocellatus, some of the smaller Julidochromis species you could do in a two foot tank.
@andysfishden6506 thanks mate, yeah I'll do some research and look at some of these I reckon.
Neolamprologus Multifasciatus Give them some shells and they will make a ton of babies for you.
@justinpiazza11 cheers mate they look like a nice little fish, definitely will give them a try
What is the size of that rack? Btw loved the video
@aronfekete9134 the racks are 1344 width, 610 deep 1830 height. The depth is perfect for the 2ft tanks you can get 4 shelf but the gap would be very small at the top of the tanks and weight would be pushing the limits also I believe.
@Fin2FinAquariums its mm right?
Yes mate@@aronfekete9134
Do you have issues with fish jumping? Incredible setup.
@BradK02 have had a few swordtails jump out here and there, and a couple of appistogramma and a Blue Peacock, I have one half of the tanks covered and try to keep the other half with more plants but overall hasn't been a big issue
Shell Dwelling Cichlids mate, a pair will be great in a 2 foot tank, there is a nice variety and they are full of personality
@LJaquariums awesome mate I just was watching a few videos on them and theybare pretty cool, definitely on the list
Looking great. Its coming along nicely. Thanks for sharing
@markfranklin8831 getting there, seems like I have been building this forever lol
when are you having a crack at breeding pseudomugils? 😜
@damianmartin15 I have thought about getting some, they are awesome looking little fish
I've been getting into the rarer Apistos recently. They are awesome and something worth trying. Not sure how available they are for you but if you can get some definitely worth trying.
@TheOriginalBrian yeah the few I have I'm enjoying and it's easy to maintain a tank woth only a couple of fish it which is a bonus, few bits and pieces available definitely keen a few more varieties
👍🏻👍🏻
