I Moved To Finland Alone At 19 Years Old
An ambitious teen pursues his dream of moving across the world from Australia, all alone. The film follows William’s journey through struggle and perseverance as he strives to find his place in a Nordic land, where he comes to feel he was always meant to be.
This project has taken 5 months of dedication and I have never been more excited to release something in my life. From the sound to the cinematography I put my heart and soul into this. Thank you for taking the time to watch, and subscribe if you're interested in more films like this!

All the video, audio and music was created by me! (some songs were sampled and formed into an original work such as Fog Lakes, Medasin & Soa Mattrix music.) I am passionate about creating as many aspects of my art as possible but give credit to the elements of these artists that inspired me and I used to build my own work.
Thank you to my mum, friends and girlfriend for supporting me in this massive journey and for the Finnish people welcoming me with open arms.
A love message to Suomi.

Solo Travelling 3 Continents at 18 Years Old
hi! this video was truly and honestly so beautiful and inspiring, i hope you feel at home in finland and find lots of meaningful places and stories here! as a finn, your video also inspired me and made me think as i've also sometimes felt lost about my identity and where i belong.
oh this was beautiful and i could relate so much to it! i moved from a warm country too to Iceland at 22 so i feel you. uncertainty is hard but the rewards are unthinkable. i believe that no matter what, we can be happy anywhere since it comes from within us. may you have a happy life
You should try also Fazer salmiakki chocolate bar or what’s sold in pharmacy, Apteekin salmiakkirasia, they’re my favorite ones
Also the colorful tyrskisk peber (turkin pippuri) are soo good too
Jesus loves y’all
How did you get your residency for Finland? What was the process like?
Working holiday visa for Finland! Very simple process just needed enough funds to support myself initially and other requirements.
@@WilliamPreat Oh nice I thought you had moved there permanently. Have a great time!
cinematography is getting insane at this point. Great video keep up the work
Thank you so much for that, really appreciate it ❤️
How do you get that grain effect??
This video makes me genuinely happy as a finnish person and i'm so happy to hear that someone else has made a decision to come live in Finland. You´re so very welcome in Finland William!!! 🥰😁💘You might even be finnish in the heart hehe.
I'll be doing this soon exactly moving to Finland from the UK - I wish you all the best William and will follow you on your journeys :)
whats the song @6:04
What an impressive feat man. At 19 I was still SO SO SO fresh. Only at 22 have i taken my first little trip and that felt kinda crazy. congratulations on your success man
this video editing choices gives me life is strange vibes
❤️
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder... :).... Love Norway too
whats the song? @2:13
It’s a remix I made using the vocals off of “talk” by foglake, not released just something I made for the video!
It was my life long dream to live in a beautiful country side village with the love of my life. I thought Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland would be perfect But i am just some poor boy in a third world country. Still dreaming I dont if i would accomplish my dream. But I am soo happy that u did. so young... at that (I turned 20 this Sept)
this video is so so good. i dont have good enough words to describe but i have to say the cinematography and visuals made me feel something. im so happy you took this big risk and were so adventurous at this age - im 20 right now and i feel like we should have a sense of urgency when it comes to pursuing our dreams so we can cross those barriers earlier
Just keep a smile. Keep on trying.
please keep making videos my man, your art is amazing speaks for itself, keep investing in yourself and exploring life possibilities.
Thank you so much, this comment means so much ❤️
as a another, very lonely 19yo, wow. amazing man. cool to see how much others my age can do!
You made this and scored it too?? What the heck. So good dude.
Thank you so much man, all scored and made by myself!
i hope god sends lovely finnish hippies to you or something :) they are the best and i can say you became to love south finnish culture very fast there <3
what do you do for work? how did you manage to get the money to do this, i have a dream very similar.
bro im exactly doing this
Dude,s livin my dream life
hell yeah man i’m 19 as well im moving to norway when i can
Not a fan of the tone but I dig the playing
I'll do the (kinda opposite) you did, moving from Europe to Australia or NZ. Living in a rural Portuguese environment for 18 years really made me wonder what "living in a big deal Anglophone country" would be like, I wanna know what it's like at least once in my life. Not moving to the UK/US because they sound too insane/dangerous for me.
Ah, Salmiak, we have that in The Netherlands too, I love it!
I bought my own groceries for the first time at 19 years old
beautiful video. do you speak finnish now?
As a czech this motivated me to move to country i always wanted to
Nice video man, i also want to move to Finland one day. I would like to ask, what camera do you use? And that graining effect is made by some filter or original from camera? Thank you so much.
I am 18 from Norway and really want to travel to crazy places like Egypt and marocco. But How do you plan everything when you solo travel? And How can you afford everything? Best video ever!
most impotant thing is the flight ticket (cheap depending of the seasons for Morocco) and accommodation i usually use hostelworld, Booking or Airbnb. for the activeties (in Europe I book a free walking tour tape it in google) but in other countries like my country Morocco you can start with the old city after that just check 10 thg/places to do. for financing all this i usually allocate a monthly budget travel on the side. good luck !
I did not expect my usual route I have been taking for 4 years to show up at 2:00
you look like a russian music artist "sharlot" i swear
I am also a nineteen year old who just moved to finland . Its been about two months now, and I miss my friends and family every now and then , but i am really glad i did this move. Your thoughts and feelings deeply resonates with me . Also , your videography is ethreal . THANK YOUUUU.
This means so much to me, I really send my best wishes to you ❤️
@@WilliamPreat thank you. Wishing you the very best too!🤍
Great work, William! Not a finn(just another immigrant who've been living in Finland for last 2 years), but still this video made my day a little brighter. Thank you and keep going!
Bro, I'm also planning to move to finland in 2025 , in my 18th birthday, from Kerala, India

Greetings from Kentucky! This video came at such a perfect time. I'm 17 and want to move to Germany. This is so encouraging and beautiful. Thank you for the insight.
Scandinavian Climate just feels like a place where you can actually live. Australia feels hostile, there's no fun. You can't just go enjoy the country side. Hope I can live in Scandinavia for a few years, I don't know if I want to live in Australia my whole life.
Wonderful video! How did you create the grainy effect?
respect!
Come to Holland habibi I want you to play guitar for me
Beautiful video! I grew up in an area around St. Petersburg so I can relate to you being so fascinated by the nature, and those small Finnish towns feel absolutely special for somebody who's been living in a big city your whole life. However, I can't help but wonder whether you'll change your mind come winter 🤣🤣 Good luck on your journey, being an immigrant myself I can relate to the struggle of living in an unfamiliar place. Perhaps the hunger for the new will catch up with you yet again and a few years from now you'll be somewhere else entirely, that's what happened to me anyway. After all, starting your life from scratch is only scary for the first time - once unfamiliarity itself becomes a familiar idea, you might even find it difficult to stop.
Finland looks like a beautiful country, I'd love to visit one day.
Hey man! Just got accepted to my dream UNI here and am moving in less then two months. Watching your video was really nice, I could really feel your excitement for life when you started talking with the phone in hand. Thanks for the video.
How did you choose where to go to?
your video deserve more views
Thanks for sharing your video. This was inspiring. Starting my traveling journey soon !
