Rigging a Bird With Advanced Skeleton PART 04 [Weight Painting]
This is PART 04 of How to rig a bird in Maya for animation with Advanced Skeleton
In this free series I have been teaching how to rig a bird. In the previous lessons we set up the joints and built the main rig for the body and wings.
In this lesson we will cover all the skinning and weight painting. I will show you how to only have certain joints affect single pieces of geometry, weight painting techniques and go over what a Delta Mush is.
This will work with any bird model, you can use your own or purchase various 3d bird assets on stock market places
I will NOT be covering how to create feather systems, this is a whole deeper skillset, but you can build a beautiful animator friendly bird right here! and 🔥now all in 4K!

Despite checking blend shapes in face section, there's no morph targets when importing to unreal. Anyone came across this issue guys? I'm using Maya 2023 and Unreal 5.5

How can you immediately make the skeleton of the pigtail move as if it already has a controller?
This actually got my hopes back up in modeling hair for my character, most of the other methods I tried for making hair just did not work, but now I feel motivated once more to finish my character, thanks gangster! Happiness restored.

The script will work only with the biped joints and only if it is fulled rigged with face?? cuz it said Value is out of range: 0 //
Well, mine is skinned and exported from Character creator and replaced by the Biped joints... now i think thats the problem i cant export to unreal... do u have any tip for that??

Hello. Thank you so much for preparing such an educational video. I have a problem. We are following the Facial Rig steps as shown in the video. However, at step 8 of the Build process (FaceCag) // Error: file: /Users/sefa/Downloads/AdvancedSkeleton/AdvancedSkeleton.mel line 37962: More than one object matches name: CheekBone_R We couldn’t find a solution.

Hi there! This tutorials are helping me so much 😍 I just have one problem: sometimes I move the body joints and as soon as I Rebuild Advance Skeleton, my joints move. I've tried to move them back to place but Advance Skeleton keeps moving them. Is there a way to fix this problem? Thanks :)

For anyone struggling with the wheels rotating in the wrong direction, you need to change the autoroll in the attribute editor from 1 to -1 and it should rotate the right way.

I pressed alt B by mistake the first time I use maya, I didnt like it but left it like that coz it was a minor issue. Half way through the vid I you explain what it is coz you did it mistake as well only differnece is that you knew what you were doing. I used it again and I never realised how this small change could be so helpful. Tysm guy 😭😭
