Yes, I agree. Because they came from Sheffield, they never had as much exposure to the London Pub Rock scene as other bands I worked with, and I only have vague memories of them. I'll reacquaint myself with their music. Cheers!

I think you make a good point. I despaired of the Hamsters when I saw that they all changed into slippers in the dressing room! I think, to be fair, that they considered it a job, like plumbing or working in a shop, and the lack of creativity got to them in the end. Thanks for joining in!

Funnily enough, the Cardiacs are on my list to cover in a future video. I was thinking of them when I remembered that Max joined The Sound. As for Stump, although I put them on many times and enjoyed them (and I stayed in touch with Mick (for a while), I'm not sure they were ever commercial enough to be HUGE! Nice thought, anyway. Yes, I see what you mean. I remember when I saw them live (at Kingston Poly, I think, but might have been Thames Poly), I remember feeling tiny snippets of various band's influences during their set. Nothing too obvious or overt, just like flavours in a meal… Cheers!

As I said in the video, they were Australian but moved to London. They became part of the British music scene of the time and David wrote about experiences he was having in London. I'm not a great believer in nationality, anyway. A citizen of the world! 😄

I think now Adrian would have been diagnosed with something like ADHD and he might have received the help he needed. I remember hearing that he described himself as a "schizo" to friends. Cheers!

Yes, but they could (and maybe should) have been way bigger if Julian Cope hadn't shredded their chances with the 'Wilder' album. and disbanded them. Despite its popularity now, 'Kilimanjaro' never broke into the Top 20 album charts, and only 'Reward' has had significant chart success. After that, it seemed to be a self-engineered downward spiral. Plus, I always try to include one band most people will have heard of to get them watching… 😉

They are. They certainly haven’t “vanished without a trace“. This bloke needs to get out more.

Thanks, Kenny: I never knew that! I never saw or spoke to Andrew after I stopped putting on The Pogues (or rather, when they got too big to play for me!!) I really love that we can all add to the story and try and get the "history" of those days right. Most of what I see written down and on podcasts and videos is (for want of a better word!)
