    If people want new with bells & whistles then this camera isn’t for them. If people want a fulfilling photographic experience and maybe put on an old Nikon lens then the D200 is great fun and gives great results. Its successor, D300 blows it out of the water but there’s a satisfaction with the D200 that gives a film like experience without the processing.

    Great insights and photos. Haha, I'm sure you are right but I just got a D200 for personal reasons. I'm not a pro and I have been using my D40 for an eternity and I want to have something like that with better specs. I love the simplicity and vibrant photos I get from the Nikon D40 and the D200 offers what I'm missing. Probably a silly choice for others, I know.

    I got my XA1 in1983 when I passed first grade to second grade from my father who was a photographer, my mother had the XA2, I have both of them now, I remember going out that evening and finishing the film in that one evening, I still have those photos.

    The best of these cameras are the original G690 where the interchangeable lenses - you can then use the 50mm which is an amazing lens.

    I can't help correcting the pronunciation of Nikon. The US seems to think it is "Ny-kon" but in reality it is "Nick-on" because it is derived from "Nippon Kōgaku Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha". D200 is a great camera - I bought one new in 2005 and now have 4 of them!

    It's not the camera, it's you! Time to wake up and smell the CCD. No way no how is film even close here. No immediate feedback, not nearly as fun. The D200 is the start of something great. I bought a D200 new. The original battery grip Nikon too, not the Chinese knock offs. This camera rewards with patience, and love. Need fast and low light? Buy a Sony, or much newer Nikon. I have both. A7iii x 2 by Sony for my event rigs, and a D700, and D800 used. Both with used battery Nikon grips too. My Sonys are used too! Nikons exact the joy of photography. Doesn't care when what or where. You supply the why. Your story your triumphs, your excuses. It's all there. So is my D200 which now my Brother enjoys. He has a D7200, and a D4. He is sensible. I am the nut case of the family on cameras. I celebrate my Church services with the Sonys. Sometimes the D800 is here too. The clack clack of the shutters say we share and celebrate together. Whether friends family, or the Lord, my cameras never stop. I never stop. I had a Canon 1DX stop. It sits on my desk at work to remind me. Capture and share, because it is what completes me. The story the camera, and me.

    0:53 that's funny you say that... after having been a long time OM-2n (along with a couple other cameras) user, I sold it off and thought to myself, "damn dude, you've never owned a nicer Nikon. So I bought an FE2 (1/4000th shutter speed, aperture priority, exposure comp... fuggetaboutit). I thought I would have this beautiful camera that you would imagine in some photographers studio in 1984. Maybe next to his Hasselblad. The Nikon being his go to SLR when he needs to shoot fast n loose. Buuuuuutttt... I hated it. Not like HATE hate... but I missed my Olympus. I suppose mostly for the size. I didn't really see myself throwing that Nikon in a bag for beach day. Or last minute trip into the woods. Or shit, just to go out and fuck around and shoot some stuff in my neighborhood. I wasn't feeling it AT ALL. It's a very nice looking camera, and that 1/4000th shutter seemed like such a premium option. But I just don't care that much. I miss my old Olympus that went on a lot of little adventures with me. (and a myriad of other things that I thought the olympus was just better at or the ergonomics... the Nikon had a locking button for three separate functions that you had to press to use the function... that were totally unnecessary... like opening up the back. I'm really going to accidentally pull up on the rewind knob and open the back of the camera????? lol)

    Do you ever get the issue with this back where the film advance knob refuses to stop for the next photo after multiple turns? As if the film is refusing to advance even if you’re turning the knob.

    I recently found one at my parents house. theres only one strip of foam along the hinge side of the back door. is it the same for yours? I thought I was getting light leaks because foam was mising, but from what ive seen online only one side of the door has foam which I thought was quite odd?

    Your sports car analogy is completely off base. Guys who own sports cars never voluntarily get rid of them. They wind up getting married and resent having children. No guy willingly buys a minivan unless he's close to suicidal. You sound like a kid who thinks he knows more than he really does. Maybe you don't have enough testosterone to appreciate a primitive Shelby 427 Cobra or a Ferrari GTO over an air conditioned, power brake and power steering equipped Nissan Versa.

    D200 and D60 are good for 300dpi 8x10 prints and smaller. If you shoot for 8 x 10 it's better than a CMOS .

  • @icecreammm2
    @icecreammm2 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would recommend the D200 as a camera to enjoy or a camera to learn or try-out photography. You can find them for around 50 Euro/Dollar these days. Add a 50mm 1.8 AF-D (screw) lens, and you are set to make amazing portraits for around 100 Euro/Dollar in total. The smaller picture size is so much easier to live with. Camera handling is fast thanks to the nice button layout. Raw editing goes fast because of the smaller file size. Yes, ISO 1600 is pretty bad, but you can get some nice grainy B/W pictures out of it.

      Hi. Once the roll is done, it should rewind automatically. Also, there is a little rewind button on top, to the left of the shutter button. You will need a pin tip, or something small to push it in. Hope that helps.

    You should try the S5 Pro. Same body as the D200 and Fuji sensor. It's a 2x win: I can use my nikon glass and get the fuji colors right SOOC 😁. That said, I have 2x D200 just in case 😉.

I love to use them when I need higher image quality than my 35mm film camera and when I need easier portability than my 4x5 inch large format view camera.

    I recently bought an F2AS with a 55mm f1.2 lens and had it professionally serviced for an additional cost. Total out-lay was over £600 (UK sterling). Unfortunately, due to a physical disability, I'm finding it difficult to go out and use it. I yearned for this camera since the 70's when I was a teenager and now I've got one, it's more or less useless to me. So frustrating.....

    2:36 This picture is out of focus because your shutter speed seems too slow. (User Error) 2:39 Anyone else notice the dust on this guys mirror? Can you imagine what his sensor looks like? 2:52 This image is out of focus (user error again) If your camera can't AF because of bad light. Switch to Manual focus and focus on a lit area, The building is not moving? It's not rocket science. You can also use a Tripod with remote shutter control on a balcony with a long exposure and get an art photo. I've taken this photo 1000× and knocked it out of the park even through a closed glass door window. 3:37 Again Out of focus (user error) Looks like you need to start shooting over 1/200 or higher. I have a heavy camera shake so I shoot everything over 1/125. Let me get to my points: So the 1963 Corvette split window that goes for 200k and the 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350R that sold for 3.5 million has no value by your standards because it older technology? 1. Your complaining about dirty buttons? The ones on my D200 are bright white maybe clean your gear? 2. If someone that likes nostalgic gear doesn't agree with you they shouldn't have a platform. It weird? You gotta take your opinion of yourself down a notch. You don't know it all. Listen and learn. I personally like the colors I get out of the CCD sensor just like the colors I get out of the Canon 5D classic (another legend). Here's an opinion from a guy who's used just about every vintage Nikon body there is starting from the D50 on. If you can get this camera for $130 with a resonable shutter count, that's a steal. I like the D700 and D7000 too get them both if you have the opportunity. You will win either way. It's a lot harder to find a D700 that isn't at the end of its life cycle these days. They were and still are the wedding camera of the past so they generally are well used. Your complaining about the 10 MP on the D200 yet endorse the D700 which is only a 12.1 MP body? My D5300 is a 24 mp camera that would make more sense for you to endorse that if MP was the issue. Can I be honest with you? Based on the photos you posted. You don't seem to understand lighting or composition. Id be embarrassed to post the pictures you did to make your argument. Try taking the D200 out in bright light and give it some color like a red brick wall with a blue sky background or some foliage with colorful flowers in great light. Run up your saturation a bit. Most importantly step up your focus game and address your heavy hand shake issue. BTW most cameras underwhelm in bad lighting. You'd know this is true if you're taking most of your night photos to post to pull highlights. Sometimes its better to not take a picture then to take a bad picture because the light is just not there like in alot of your photos. I've never had a problem getting great images out of the D200 or any Nikon camera. They all have something special about them. I love the 6.1 MP Nikon D50 with a 50mm 1.8 lens in bright daylight. The "D" to me means daylight. Your shots are mostly night shots. That beach shot off the bridge should've been a home run it looks like your F stop setting was off. In bright daylight that should've been set on you lowest ISO and a wide F/stop F11-F22. Hope this helps 😊
