I couldn’t find a dentist who do onlay in my town but if I did, I think they don’t take my insurance. I accepted a gold crown because my dentist 3 years ago said my back tooth had a crack n she didn’t know how deep or if it would crack further so to prevent further cracking I should get a crown. I didn’t went because of that back tooth and the main issue is never resolved instead it increased. When they did a crown, they also re-fill a chipped filling on the teeth beside it. Since then, when my teeth pressed and a triggered spot is pressed, I feel nerve pain. I started oil pulling afterward and it help.

I don’t want my tooth to end up feeling and looking different (which happened with my other crown). Should they be able to just do an ‘onlay’? I hope so!

I have found some research articles about the use of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) use in endodonistry, but not certain on its efficacy, in certain situations. I would think SDF is superior to either apply to the top of the pulp or entire canal & silver ions would continue being antibacterial, especially after cleaning the canal traditionally or even by the use of a Gentle Wave procedure.

Don't get the titanium! My husband got a titanium implant many years ago. We knew nothing. I don't recall how soon after but he started having health issues. Histamine issues galore. Rashes all over the body including his head; scalp, face, his lips swelled up--it got really bad. His PCP put him on anti-histamine medicine but never figured out the root cause (pun intended but not funny.) Then my husband was sent to an allergy specialist. That did not do any typical allergy tests you think of with foods. We don't know why. We were still naive. My husband was put on more meds; all these medicines to suppress his autoimmune system. Several years into this I went to an ND for health issues. I suggested my husband try a male ND and he did. Then he was tested for heavy metals. That ND was on to something. My husband's test came back highly sensitive to titanium. My husband has to carry around an epi-pen now. Still has to take anti-histamines but with a Paleo diet his body calmed down. He can't do any dairy or grains as they are high inflammatory. I don't know if he will go back and change out that titanium implant. It was a very painful experience for him and made us super careful about implants, conventional medicine and conventional dentists.

They were done properly with an apex locator.I go to check ups every year and the bone around them looks fine without any infection. Also my health is perfeclty fine. I would rather keep my teeth than extract them and place an implant instead.A natural tooth is way better than an implant Even if it has a root canal. What matters is that the root canal is properly done,in my opinion.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS BS! Keep your teeth until you have no other choice an implant is not even remotely like a tooth i have one and it had to be replaced at 13 years from bone loss and infection. One screw is not anything like a 3-4 root molar and you will have bone loss and failure at some point. I have a mouth full of crowned root canalled teeth and with the new technology an endodontist can use ultrasonic cleaners that does clean our the ancillary roots. Do not trust a General dentist to do a root canal i had a failure from a general dentist but no it didnt make me septic or was it anything like a absessed tooth. Our body has the ability to isolate infection if not a simple cavity or pimple would kill us. The surrounding guns go tender and i developed a pimple on my upper gums adjactent to the infected root. It was retreated by a endodontist and l have never had another problem. My grand parents lived into their 90s with root canals and my parents are in their 80s and still alive with root canals. I am 58 with root canals with zirconium crowns and i am glad i didnt listen to these greedy butchers calling themselves dentists trying to pull all my back teeth and replace them with expensive implants that are not anything like teeth and that will eventually fail or be rejected by your body as a foreign body causing bone loss and infection. An implant should be your last choice not your first.

I'd try my best to tell him whatever i can in my limited understanding of how crowns work but without my own eyes seeing the condition of his tooth, i cannot also ascertain that he didn't need a crown, just a filling or onlay. I supposed we cannot also be Karens and insist on going to our spouses' appointments and ask all these questions to the dentist, can we? I don't think the dentist like it when there is a spouse speaking and asking behalf of the patient, and not the patient himself.

After that I was diagnosed with MS lesions in my brain at 50 years old.. The lesions only on my right side of brain same side as this root canal was done.. it was top tooth 4 from front.. I apologize, I'm only nine minutes in, but, what about "3-mix MP" for "Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair?" (where it's been found antibiotics can penetrate the tooth capsule when propylene glycol is used as the carrier, and once the infection is killed dentin will regrow -- not as orderly as it originally did, but reportedly it does). This has been used in Japan and around the Pacific for ten or twenty years, although the NIH recognized studies only approve it for pediatric care of primary teeth (why?). And, also, in India they've reportedly been successful at re-vascularizing dead nerves/capilaries by cleaning out the tubes, letting a small amount of blood to flow up, capping and revisiting a certain amount of time later. And, something about lasers...? Please comment. I have... problems, and don't want any more teeth killed than necessary.

If your dog was young enough, depending on the severity, they can cap themselves off and heal on their own. My dog has severe SA and his teeth were already messed up when I got him. One of his chipped canines healed itself. When he severely damaged another canine, I had it extracted. He’s totally fine without it. A root canal on a dog is crazy imo

Remember we’re trying to make human teeth last a hundred years. A dog’s set only needs to last 15-ish. I’d way rather have him missing one than risk infection that could lead to other health issues.

@@Pinkfrosting962 but wont extraction of a tooth also be risking infection? from what i read they remove tooth, remove root, then cap/cover up the hole witch can lead to infections as well that you cant get to?

@@Pinkfrosting962 its so terrible when it happens and your just a normal person that's not informed on the topic trying to make the best choice for your pup. all you can do is listen to the advise of the "professional" i literally wish there was a holistic type vet around i could ask and go to but there is not. im on my own just doing my best and feeling dread about making the wrong choices. Do i fully trust the "tooth vet's" advise? no. i don't think they believe that the body can do a lot of healing on its own, and i don't think they give enough respect to hidden and systemic inflammations causing long term issues and declining health.... but do i know the right alternative ? no. am i more educated than the vet? no. My dog have had issues after, not with the tooth but with fear and spasms in the face ( the spasms got a lot better after we went to a osteopath that worked on his neck and jaw, he said it was not inflamed but he had most likely been put in a poor position when in narcosis and his muscles and joints were all holding a lot of tension, he said its more common than you think) and if i were to extract the whole tooth would it mess more with the nerves in the face and make it worse? I also dont want to put him in to narcosis unless absolutely necessary either. i dont know. i wish I could talk to someone that did.
