Yagoo understand the game. The Vtuber themselve is not where the magin lies. Its the brand, the money from merch, IP, licensing. And with the Vtuber hype dying down. Its very hard for new Vtuber to make it big, so invest in already existing one is just more viable.

I don't see this as a bad thing

Even if they are not the most profitable part of Hololive per-se, the VTubers are still the center of their business. They are what makes the whole brand attractive, without their success nobody would care about merchandising or promotional contracts. They still don't have any other way to bring new potential clients.

If they make a game where your the vtuber starting from zero to hero would be sick. The character customization and funny scenario.

Its a shame Hololive/Cover are not 100% private, then they wouldn't have to be on this shareholder pleasing hamster wheel.

of course although hololive is really a lot revenue, most of your SC and support goes into your talent pockets. (you can compare it to that rainbow company , they have a much more income compared hololive although their revenue is lower than hololive) not even counted they actually gave them salary too . plus the income that actually for the company, they invest it again into their 3d studios.i just hope whenever yagoo doing, don't go into business you don't know although the profit is big. i have several companies here (expanding from travel into coal) who try their luck into some business they don't know and end up bankrupt.

I've always thought that constantly debuting massive amounts of vtubers is a bad idea. Because the total hololive fanbase is limited, you'll just end up taking attention from some vtubers, and shifting them to others without bringing enough new fans in to make up for it.

Thanks for discussing this, finally someone understand the true intention on these financial results. Right now Cover/Yagoo have achieve nearly all of it to succeed, they just need a Great game and Anime in their IP to complete it. But in my opinion, the way they handle it is making it hard to achieve... Game: Holoearth is soo ambitious, the cost is just too much. They'll have soo much money if they succeed but right now it the visual is just not that good and it's just a gimmick game as many people don't take it seriously. They should just make a simpler game like a Rhythm gacha game or an Idolmaster game with their IP and songs. This is soo much easier and cheaper as people will spend. Anime: The magical anime look good but it's soo generic, also people don't take Hologra seriously. They need to make a Great anime to succeed. There's 3 way they can do so: HoloAlternative: The easiest way is making an anime based on their lore, they have done some and people love it. Only if they continue to complete it. Idol anime: If they make Idolmaster seson 1/Love live anime with just changing the characters to Holomembers, people will love it. Look how success the anime franchise is. Group music anime: make an anime similar style to Boochi the Rock/K-On with the Holomembers. Make a Suisei story or Sora, they have soo many great story to tell if they just do it Holo domination is not just a dream. Conclusion: I understand what is their goal but to indulge on gaming or anime market, they just need to do the obvious way and not try to complicate things.

This is good news for other agencies if they are smart. Hololive is making Vtubers popular globally. Sure, they are making THEIR vtubers popular globally, but vtubing in general is becoming more popular as a result. However, as you pointed out, Hololive is not focusing on expanding with new talent, they are focusing on expanding the brand of the ones they already have. Which means that they will stop expanding on different regions, which means that untapped regions, like Europe or the spanish speaking world would be left open for other agencies to take advantage of and expand in a way that leaves them not competing directly with Hololive while still taking advantage of Hololive making Vtubing more popular. That is probably why IdolEn has opened a branch of Spanish speaking vtuners, IdolES, targeting the Latin American market. And they are not doing it half assed it either, they managed to get Meica05 as one of the new talents, and she is perhaps the most popular Vtuber among Latin American fans. So you know they are commiting for real on that region, they aren't half assing it.

I can see even IF Gura rarely streaming, her IP still can effectively used for merch and stuff, even for normies. Just like Hello Kitty. Or Pokemon, some people doesn't even play the video game or card game but love the aesthetic.

I know people jokes a lot about how Yagoo's idol dream died, but let's be honest here, this is exactly how you run an idol business. Fact is, Yagoo has been true to his word, he runs Hololive exactly the same way AKB operates. The idols will go do whatever increase their recognition most effectively, and the company profits over merchandising. Think about what HoloEarth is. HoloEarth is COVER's AKB48 threater.
