They are disgustiing and everyone knows it. They are offensive and pathetic. In Australia there is a radio shock jock named Kyle Sandilands who is utterly disgusting with what he says and does over the microphone. He is backed by a lady named Jacki-o who endorse the crudity and gross remarks he makes. She acts deliberately like a dumb sidekick, the pitiful creature who follows the lead bully around the school grounds. This man has breached the code of ethics so many times and yet what happens. Give it some time and he is asked to be a judge again on Australia's Got Talent (that might be Idol, one of the two) alongside decent people like Harry Connick Jr.. Now he has received a $200, 10 year million-dollar deal with some radio giant airing on more than the two major capital cities. This is a man who once had the audacity and depravity to ask a young teen who whilst on air sharing a horrific story of being raped, whether she would be prepared to take a lie detector test. This is truly what this vile man did, and there is so much more. Be it the UK, the USA or Australia such overt, obtrusive sexual inuendo and abuse should never be excused. What on earth is wrong with capitalism where the very worst eventually regain fame and celebrity having committed grave errors of judgement and atrocious acts of bullying. If they bring in the ratings and generate wealth, they are always let off the hook even when non-apologetic. Kyle Sandilands is the Donal Trump of Australian Radio. We have more than our share of these shock jocks, but Kyle is the ultimate in slime. For as long as this gross excrement exists Australians should be ashamed.

This reminds me so much of New FM (Newcastle) probably about the same time too. DJs with great voices. New FM had them as well, Graham Rodgers for one. I was shocked when he turned up on NXFM for awhile. haha

Ray and Mike were the best and not many come close today. I worked at New FM (Newcastle) briefly when Ray was doing their voice overs, some of the voice reels he would send were hilarious, and I thought he just did them for NEW FM, still today I am shocked to hear his voice saying other radio station names. hahaha.. We were pretty sheltered in Newy I guess. lol

In the 1970's I used to listen to Mad Mel on 2sm and he always wore a ski mask in public to hide his identity. I am absolutely sure it was Doug Melray because they both sounded remarkably identical.

Given that Scotch was promoting the old Philips VCR tape format, this must've been from the very early '80s. Pretty sure it was a dead format by then, though no doubt there were still a few users hanging onto their machines.

That jingle sounds like an '80s hair mousse commercial crossed with several grams of cocaine. I love it!

A thoroughly professional presenter,I remember Yorkie could sail through any mishap as if it were all part of the show. One of his jobs was to compare the Miss West Coast heats and some of the girls were just entering for a laugh. Occasionally one of them would say something quite rude to watch Yorkie's reaction but he'd just pretend he hadn't heard while the crowd cracked up.

Awesome. So much memories. His crank calls were the best.

Sadly from tomorrow (10th June) 2CH is no more.

A fantastic piece of radio history. Kevin is one of the nicest blokes in radio, and is still on air today presenting “The Sideline View” on Saturday arvos on Bay 93.9 in Geelong.

I worked w Gordon till 1971, never new him as “Googie” though, when did he get the nickname and why Googie! Sorry to hear of his passing, he was a great boss!
