Hey, thank you for the video. Is there any reason why my casters are shaking when i try to gain speed?
Great video!
@@jucedcustoms2274 Thank you for the feedback! Please watch the series of videos and let us know what you think! Happy Holidays
Your video says”Changing” but you didn’t show how to put it back on?? 😅 Maybe name the video “How to remove”
@Inspirationalshorts828 please see the next video "installing a new wheelchair tire".
I just got my nytrum and the uphostery back rest is set to straight up. It needs to leen back more. How do i do that? The manual does not explain it .
hi i was given a set of rear wheels 24" from another wheelchair user whomdidnt want them, they were brand new,but theyve been a nightmare to put together, no inter tubes no tyres no push rims all done tho now,all but axles i bought some axles but ive noticed ones to long and the other too short not only that ive noticed theres a gap of about 5 mm once ive threaded the axle through the wheel on the inner side therefor the axle pin has a bit off play (wobble) where can i find the right size washer inbetween please can you help
@androullanicou8683 There are many factors and measurements starting with wheel hub width and brand as well as wheelchair brand. I'd recommend looking at a site like HowiRollsports . Com to finding the correct axles for your situation. Their website has very detailed measurements and specifications to help choose the right axles.
❤
How to put it back in
Thank you!
Who? What? What are we talking about?
What professional do you suggest? I got my chair second hand and no repair place will touch it since it’s not from them.
Ive done the recommended adjustments..but still have issues..plus my wheel wobble..what gives. My chair is just 63 months old. Waiting on new approval on new chair. But I need more info on my issue. Thanks
How to lower the footplate on a velocity power wheelchair
Hey, I know that guy! :) My footplate keeps sliding down, no matter what I do. Any ideas how to fix that? (I have a TiLite ZRA)
Agree with most of it except "it should be done by a professional" . If you are able, you should experiment with this yourself. Same with your wheelchair maintenance in general. Empowerment is Independence.
yea that was no help, my question is setting up the brackets so they don't move. i have a Invacare Top End Terminator chair and using quickie side guard bracket but when i attach it... its not secure i turn the bolt as far as i can but when i sit in chair sometimes when i lean forward in chair onto my lap my thighs flatten out and pushes the side guards outward toward wheel its frustrating. so you should do a video showing how to attach the brackets as well as sideguard adjustments
Sorry Roger, sounds like your Invacare frame may have a different tubing diameter than the brackets from the quickie side guards. If these are different, which unfortunately is common as each company and frame may have different dimensions. Some frames may be 1" or 1.25" tubing, or even some quickie frames have an oval-shaped tubing. That is my best guess as to what may be causing your side guards to move.
Hello! What is the weight limit on these wheels? Thank you.
Is it possible to attach handrims to a wheelchair without handrims, assuming it is the right design otherwise?
I'm sorry, I don't quite understand. You can replace handrims with the same style (most common is 6 tab) and same size handrims. Can you please specify the "wheelchair without handrims?" Not sure if you mean to attach handrims to handcycle or bicycle wheels that don't have handrim mounts?
I ordered my chair with a 1" cog. Very stable and hard to get off the ground. The frame is marked in 1/2" increments from 1" to 3". I moved it to 11/2". Much easier to move and launch. Also had to move the brakes. Like your videos, thank you.
Awesome, and thank you! Yes, smaller increments of 0.5" are recommended since these adjustments can change comfort in regards to tipping backward. But it sounds like you got it dialed and a lot more efficient and comfortable. And congrats on the new wheelchair, please check out our other videos to help get your chair best set for you!
Love your videos and you give such a good and helpfull advices, but the cute guy in video should blink sometimes :D :D
I have to get new handrims and not sure what size to get. I have 24" wheels. Does that mean I get 24" handrims, or would it be the 22" to be exact to the handrail size?
Hello Sara! You would want the same size handrim for the size of your wheel. The 22" wheels are often for a shorter individual or children's wheelchair. However, the other importance to ordering new handrims are the tabs that connect the handrim to the wheel. Most commonly, wheels are 6-tabs and then you have an option of short tab (handrim closer to wheel/tire) or long tab placement (larger gap between wheel/tire). I hope that answers your question and please respond if you have any other questions.
@@sciactivenetwork Thank you so much for all the details! I ended up also calling the company and checking with them for confirmation. I appreciate the help
how to fully crane your power chair
I received a new chair and not one of my 6 axles would lock into place with a wheel attached. I adjusted the length as much as I could, but they were all too short. I found some slightly larger axles online and ordered them in hope they would lock. A few days later I received them and they luckily worked. The wheel still moves just a bit, but no amount of adjustment seems to rectify the issue. It is what it is, but as it's been a year, there really hasn't been an issue with the chair or its slight rear wheels wobble.
Thanks for sharing. Yes there are many variables to which axle length is the right one for the wheelchair frame as well as the rear wheelset and hubs. Glad you were able to find the longer axles and that it has worked since!
For Tilite chairs, they have two different axel lengths: 4.0" and 4.3". I just replaced mine, and the 4.0 had to be adjusted almost all the way in. No way it would have worked with the 4.3" axel.
Thanks for this - everyone has shown how to change the tube / fix a flat - i cannot find how to jack the power chair up or where to support the chair while wheel is off
I love you guys, thanks for everything you do.
Your tapes are great, looking for one that explains how to adjust spacing between rear tires and chair were two adjustment nuts are located at end of axle. My tires keep rubbing on mu side guards
That was actually really helpful and answered my questions. I'm welding a bicycle trailer from scratch and was wondering about what wheel angle is, why some chairs have it, and the advantage it provides. Thank you.
My provider, the VA just fitted me for my first wheelchair. I told the guy fitting me that I wanted to be able to bowl using it, so easy remove arm rests, brake handles that don't go outward, and most important, an easy to remove and replace hand rim. I get the wheelchair, and go to the bowling alley with my brother who already bowls with a wheelchair, can easily remove his rim. Mine was like the first one shown in the video, and cannot be removed with the tire in place. To make things easier for me, they gave me solid tires that will never go flat, which makes removing the hand rim easily, impossible. Who in their right mind designed the wheel this way. Most likely I'll be told that they will only replace broken or worn out parts, and this wheelchair has only one mile on its odometer, it's that new.
Hello Rich! Those are great ideas going into getting a wheelchair that'll work daily as well as for your bowling. Unfortunately, the cylindrical handrim tabs are so common and most handrims require the removal of the tire and tubes, or in your case the inserts are easily removed as they are more of a permanent placement. We hope you found a happy medium and have been bowling great!

How about an informative video of the ideal sitting position and how to adjust those. I think we all know there’s different types of backrest’s that adjust.
Hey Chris thanks for your comment! What type of backrest do you have or any specifics to you personally that you'd like to email us at info@sciactivenetwork.org to try and give you some suggestions? This video series was more focused on explaining the very basics for the newly injured who don't really know anything about a wheelchair or the process besides the seating companies who often times fail their clients. As for the sitting position, that really is specific to each individual's physical abilities, preferences for chair weight, and most importantly their comfort. Different injury levels lend to different needs for backrest height, stability and contour while focusing on posture and maintaining proper techniques propelling. Personally, I've used many types of adjustable hard shell backrests and upholstered, both have benefits to each person, but I prefer the upholstered backrests for comfort and lighter complete wheelchair weight with the amount of car/wheelchair transfers.
@@sciactivenetwork I understand. I guess the description of the video sounds like it’s going to explain more of the last 2 paragraphs of your reply. I.E. How to make adjustments based on sitting position, physical abilities, comfort, etc..
He sounds like a robot
Thanks for watching! First time reading a teleprompter gave me more respect for those that do it regularly.
how can adjust the angule? my wheelchair it is 3° and i want to get 0° , i ts something that I can do as adjustment or I have to buy a extra camber?
Hey I saw video on center of gravity adjustment for manual wheelchair I am a C7 incomplete quadraplgic also double amputee above knee I have the ki mobility Rogue manual wheelchair I know move rear wheels and axle backwards supposed to help correct that bit it also moves my body farther away from just about everything what other adjustment is there that will help
Thanks Mark for your comment in regards to center of gravity. What are you looking for or feeling needs to be adjusted? Are you tipping backwards in your current setup? Have you added some weights to the front of your wheelchair to help counter balance? Also, what is the "seat dump" on your Rogue wheelchair? (Front floor to seat height minus Rear floor to seat height). Please watch our Seat Dump video to see how to measure if needed. Looking forward to hearing back and helping you get your wheelchair adjusted. Please feel free to email us at info@sciactivenetwork.org with any answers or questions!
Please explain the statement, "more difficult to get a full propel..." I know not what the term "propel" means with relationship to center of gravity.
Thanks for commenting Chad! What we mean by a lesser Center of Gravity possibly resulting in a limited propulsion, is if the rear wheels are back towards the backposts. Likely, it'll be more difficult to get your starting grip around 10-11 o'clock and over to 2-3 o'clock on the handrims, resulting in shorter and less powerful propels! We hope this helps and please don't hesitate to ask more questions.
closer to your center of gravity easier to push but more tippy, farther back harder to push, but more stable, it's user preference usually.
I think it's funny that you speak on the anti-tips when you don't even have brakes on your chair. You are a rock star.
Thanks for commenting Chad! We want to make sure that we help all who have different preferences, skills and comfort in their wheelchairs. I personally choose and feel most comfortable to have less on my wheelchair!
Let's talk seat dump sometime. I'm still not confident with my DMEs determination and I have an order open for a new chair.
Thanks for commenting Chad, this is unfortunate to hear that you and many others don't feel comfortable or confident in the DME fitting process. We hope our videos help give some insight and education to better understand the wheelchair fitting process and terminology. We're always open to help or talk seat dump!
🤣🤣🤣Learned this the hard way after my DME failed to adjust it properly and my wheels started coming off half a mile from home. This is a critical adjustment so everyone, please check that the pin is locked by listening for that faint but sweet sounding "click" as the bolts deploy and the lock engages. Thanks Troy Boy. I'm loving this series. P.S. Who is the other dude with you at the end?
It's my fear with people buying the motorized attachments. I've read one out of ten wheels aren't properly locked on quick release axles. I have three chairs for different situations and lo and behold one wheel on my folding chair didn't lock. I suppose my weight was keeping it on all these years. That, or it had just recently quit locking, or the axle had somehow readjusted itself over time. Any easy fix, but still.😱
Here is the tire install video I was hoping for. 🤣 However, if you have any tips on those stubborn beads not easily pulled over the rim, I'm open.
Thanks for commenting Chad! We're glad that you found this video and hope that it helps!
Holy smoke. I never think to check the spokes even though I was an avid bicyclist before my injury. Well played Sir. Well played.
Love ya' Troy but we're missing the other half of the change out; the most difficult part of getting the bead of the tire back over the rim. I have a handy tool I discovered that I would love to turn you on to that is a game changer to this sometimes difficult challenge. Please tell me where you got those handsome, durable tire irons. I must have them. Much love. The Zilla.
Thanks for commenting Chad! The following video goes into more detail regarding the bead. We would like to see the handy tool you use, but the tire ironss(spoons) we used here are from the Per4max website. Very durable with great grip and leverage!
Hey Troy. I'm a SUB and the bell is set to ring. I await the next installment. Peace brotha.
Yo Chad! Sweet! Thanks for connecting. We have the 16-part mini maintainance series set to drop throughout the month. I see you're into wheelchair fitness as well, something we may want to share with the community! 💪 Much love bro!
