Edgerrin James: A Football Life
"Edgerrin James: A Football Life" - an NFL Films-produced profile of the Pro Football Hall of Fame former Colts running back - premiered on NFL Network Friday, Nov. 18 at 9 p.m. ET.
Over the hour-long program, you'll hear from James and a star-studded cast of former teammates and some of the biggest names in football, including:
Jim Irsay: "He's the only player that's ever received a Super Bowl ring that wasn't on the roster, and that's because he meant so much to us."
Peyton Manning: "He wanted to be more than just a running back. He took pride in his pass protections, and who to block. I say this over and over again: he was the best teammate that I ever had, and at the end of the day I don't know if you can pay someone a bigger compliment."
Reggie Wayne: "He is Miami. I think his legacy here is everything. If there was a Mount Rushmore of this place, his head would be one of the heads that is on there."
Tony Dungy: "In '04 and '05 he did everything. That's what was special to me about him. Yes 1,500 yards, yes all these catches and all these touchdowns. But that attitude of whatever it takes for us to win, I'm going to do it."
Trick Daddy: "Go back and watch some of the film and see why EJ is one of the best running backs ever to play in high school, college and the NFL."
James: "The best thing is that you get to re-live your life through them and the mistakes or the obstacles or the situations that occur, you have an answer for. You are their Superman. I've always embraced that challenge."
Others interviewed for the program include James' mother, Julie, Bill Polian, Marvin Harrison, Kurt Warner, and Larry Fitzgerald, among others. You'll hear James' story from a rough upbringing to his standout career at the University of Miami, to his remarkable time with the Colts, to leading the Arizona Cardinals to a Super Bowl appearance, and how he handled the public perception of his personality and appearance throughout his Hall of Fame career.

Drew Pearson: A Football Life
มุมมอง 94K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Undrafted out of the University of Tulsa, Drew Pearson made the Dallas roster as a free agent in 1973 because he could contribute on the Cowboys’ special teams. By the time his career ended 11 seasons and 156 regular-season games later, he had left his mark as the franchise’s all-time leader in most receiving categories and established himself as one of the National Football League’s best clutc...

People just don't understand statistics back then are different from those now. Your impact on the game should be more important than today's inflated numbers.

Edge is one of my favorite football players, he dont talk much, but he was raised right!!! The Colt showed so much class to get a ring for Edge even when he left the team, that says alot about an organization.

I'm (Doug Taladay/World Leader) whose proud too write a note/message about NFL Running Back *Edgerrin James* where myself only correctly 23 Years Old as well a All-League Running Back for the Alumni 1993 CHS "Senator's" Varsity Football with the Final Record 6-3 Squad earned! I noticed recently the NCAA is shown on the Electronic Appliance Televisions heavily in-correctly described however NOT fully understood about if its intentionally, but uniquely what myself (Douglas Taladay) wrote/writes about the Electronic Appliances either Computers or Televisions 100% the English Language is abusively an violently organized by illegally criminals without future plans for anyone else except themselves too 1st be successful! My replies about the NFL Running Back *Edgerrin James* absolutely possibly can be seen opposite than a positive note along with good feed-back for help as well support of the Pro Athletic Market for Business in U.S.A. along from the personal individual he is about like again myself being someone special its rewarding from my own earlier Life myself fortunately was about who learned about the Pro Athletic Football Sport where attending School is actually still on-going for me even though I got a NCAA Bachelor's in Science (&) the Fine Art's College Degree in December 2017. Where my U.S.A. Nevada ID. Drivers Licenses (&) Birth Certificate describes me (49) Years Old now 8/29/2024 Thursday where correctly my ASTROLOGY HOROSCOPE isn't a (Fire-Element) LEO SIGN, or the (Fire-Element) would be inside my interior human being body although luckily I'm a (Air-Element) GEMINI Horoscope as myself fortunately has met along noticed quiet a few Sibling Brothers who are similar with myself being a *Astrology/Air-Element* GEMINI *Horoscope/Zodiac Sign* my Douglas Jason Taladay individual signal blessed Human Being/Person is gratefully an proudly like only some other selective few of We The People are! One reason it took so long to get Drew in ... he never had a big game as far as receptions or multiple TD's in a super bowl. He was held WITHOUT a catch in SB XIII in the 1st half & had 4-5 catches in the 2nd half of that game but his stats came when the game was decided & Dallas trailed Pittsburgh 35-17. He also had only one catch against Denver in SB XII & didn't score at all. He had a big game against the Falcons in 1980 in the post season but never had a monster SB game. Mel Blount covered him like a blanket in SB XIII in the first half. Guys like Charlie Waters, Harvey Martin & Ed Too Tall Jones would probably be in Canton were it not for the Steelers 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Look how long Cliff Harris had to wait. All I heard was Cliff Harris is a 1st ballot hall of famer after he retired in 1979. SHIT, it took over 30 years before Cliff was inducted. Paul Zimmerman of Sports Illustrated said "Anytime the electors or sportswriters mentioned any of the Cowboy players from the 70's that I thought were deserving, the response was yeah but they lost those two super bowls to the Steelers." Zimmerman resigned from the hall of fame committee in protest over sportswriters not electing guys like Bob Hayes, Ken Riley, Ken Stabler, Harold Carmichael, Charlie Waters, Harvey Martin ... lot of forgotten names from the 1970's. Swann & Stallworth BOTH got in because they had two EPIC super bowl performances ... against the Cowboys. If you DON'T have multiple catches & multiple TD's in super bowl performances or you lose in multiple super bowls, sportswriters tend not to support you. The receiver from the 1970's that I thought was better than Swann, Stallworth & Drew Pearson still gets the least amount of respect from anyone ... Harold Carmichael who also played on a super bowl losing team. He also never had a big, huge post season game either.

Also shows how stupid HOF selection is. Going on stats alone is only reason lame O Terrell Owens is even being considered when you should go on overall performance and what that players does for his team. Not stats.

Man, Drew really was clutch. He and Roger were the perfect duo. I would love to have one of those Drew Pearson t-shirts from the video. I was lucky to meet him and Roger in Atlanta during a huge sports convention. I was on one end of the convention center when I heard the announcement that Drew and Roger were taking Polaroids with fans…. Clear at the other end of the center. I dropped what I was doing and ran (in a suit and tie) and was lucky enough to get there in time. That photo is a prized possession of mine.

I have never heard a player say what Edge said after he left the Colts. Most players would be bitter but he figured out that the Colts could not keep everyone and he was the odd man out. However, his humility is amazing. What he said about helping Addai I can't ever recall a player that left a team say that. They were the best team in the NFL during 2005. I would have been upset if that was me and that is the sad history of the NFL salary cap. It breaks teams up and kills relationships between players and organizations. However, not with Edge and the Colts.

Cowboys fan and Texan here. There are so many outstanding players in Cowboys history. Drew Pearson is top five, hands down. Four decades to get in is unthinkable. There are a few more who should be in and are not. Hope they get their moment as he did.

What always bothered me about Drew not being inducted into the Hall quicker is knowing what caliber of player he was compared to more modern players that made it in ahead of him. There are fantastic players who were inducted into the HoF that were NOT the big game impact player that Drew was. Those players were definitely good players, but Drew was a game breaker who was as clutch as someone like Lynn Swann who played during Drew's era. In his era, Drew was as good as it gets.
