Hey everyone my name is Mike, also known on trail as “Snazzy”
I thru hiked the John Muir trail in 2016 and haven’t looked back. That trip helped me realize I needed more time outdoors and a goal to work towards, this has me constantly searching and planning for the next adventure. I started vlogging my hikes in 2019 on my thru hike of the PCT with the outdoor media company The Trek, you can see my PCT videos on their TH-cam channel. Once I finished my first long trail I knew I wanted to do it again. I have goals of completing the triple crown eventually, but in the mean time I’m going out as much as I can and posting my videos here for your enjoyment. I don’t have the best videos just yet but I’m working to improve. Just want to show you these amazing places and I hope it inspires you to get outside. While enjoying our public lands and outdoor spaces it’s important to remember to “leave no trace” , pack out your garbage and TP, bury your poop and leave it better for the next person!

Next year, I’m going to be looking for all your campsites! You find the ones with the best views! It’s cool how you saw that herd of elk up there! Love the ridge walks!
Gorgeous views. Great day to be on the CDT.
I think I camped at that same spot about 3 days before you…then woke up the next morning to a couple of big climbs up to almost 13,000 feet! It looks like you had even less snow than when I hiked that section, so it is really melting fast! Awesome trail footage!
Are you on the CDT now? It is really melting fast.
@@nobostone7193 I was just doing a short section. Next year I’m planning to thru hike the CDT!
When your body tells you rest... You rest , great videos.
Yes! I’m not a very good listener
Happy Birthday to who is clearly the most amazing wife ever!!!
Without a doubt!! Couldnt do it with out her
Not sure which was scarier, the treacherous slopes, the naked fanny or your dance moves😆 But it sure was fun to watch!!
Probably the dance moves
That box was empty when I went through there last year.
Oh no!! I carried a beer the entire way there only to find out there was a cooler full of them🤷♂️
Loved the views in Pagosa Springs. You are the only CDT hiker who has shown the town. Hike on!
Such an amazing town. Would be an awesome place to visit in the fall when it’s cooler and more enjoyable in the springs
Congrats on 20 miles when you’re tired. Beautiful views.
That was one huge eagle!! Not many people get a chance to see that up close
So amazing! Watched it for a bit there
From Pagosa going up is one hell of a elevation gain. You are going to hit over 13,000 feet just on trail, 14,000 if you do some of the alternates, So lack of oxygen and maybe close to a 4,000 foot gain probably isn't as easy as a lot think. I think Pagosa is around 6,000 feet give or take a few, LMAO, if you live here a 1000 feet is a few. 🤣🤣🤣 Awesome views, I didn't realize it was that far from Pagosa to either Creede or Lake City depending on which you go to. Both are expensive But each has it's own beauty. Both are Mining towns now Tourist traps. A lot of History to be walking through and enjoying. Carry on you are doing awesome.
Hey, my brother and I have been following you since the Crazy Cook monument and Lordsburg. Nice that you’re getting over the monumental foot blister. I lived in NM in recent years and was very familiar with the area. I can say I’ve been through Pie Town, Cuba, Chama, and Pagosa Springs though not hiking. I’m a BMX racer.
Thank you for the content Snazzy! Are you seeing many other hikers out there?
Your welcome!! No not really seeing many at all on trail. Most I e seen is one other in each section between towns. But I’ll see some coming in and out of towns but very few.
So happy you made it safely over Knife’s Edge. Your wife must feel relieved you got to town.
Yeah me too!! She is always glad to hear I’m safe
What tent brand are you using?
MSR Hubba 1 person
Awesome views! Just to be clear, I’m referring to the mountain shots😂 That was quite the steep snow traverse! I was hiking the CDT section after Wolf Creek Pass that same day (I’m pretty sure). I was getting caught in hailstorms all day - ended up with a wet down sleeping bag that night and had to bail out just before the Knife Edge to get things dried out! It’s been a rainy couple of weeks! You’re doing awesome!
Haha yeah right! Yeah. Other than the storms it’s absolutely perfect out here. Been definitely spending extra time making sure my things are dry for the next night/day. Multiple nights in a row with rain don’t work well for me
I’m the Sierra at high elevations you can count on daily afternoon rain/hail and thunder/lightning. Usually stops in the evening and clear by morning. Those high mountains create their own weather.
No doubt! Been learning the hard way. It’s really all about luck and timing it’s raining somewhere just depends if that’s where you are🤷♂️
What a day. Are the pine cones as red as they looked in the picture? Keep up the great work.
Amazing day! They are that red! Never seen them look like that. Sometimes they have a purple hue to them as well. So neat!!
Funniest video I’ve seen😂😂
Hike NAKED today I knew I could count on you :-) dancing in the rain and also hell, you had one heck of a long day and every type of situation wow
Going through all the emotions and weather out here! Loving it!!
Naked guy 😂😮
Great catch with the Pika. t Thanks for taking me along on your journey.
You are so welcome!! Thanks for following along!!
No thanks required!
This has been a strange early summer. Normally once we get our last snow in May early June, It is just hot. You are doing great.
Thanks so much! Trying to adapt from extream desert heat to cold wind, rain and hail has been a little tough. Oh yeah and elevation
Gorgeous views! Love the campsite, too!❤
Another amazing day! The campsite is like the cherry on top. Thanks for following along I really appreciate it 🙏
Glad the feet are finally feeling good😊 What great guys in Chama! I love the San Juans! They are beautiful and pretty brutal! Stay safe!
Yeah I cried a couple times I couldn’t believe my feet didn’t hurt for the first time in a long time. Tumbleweed and Janis Joplin in Chama saved me the moral had been running low and they filled me up. San Juan’s have been everything and more!! Thanks so much!!
Congratulations! Awesome work!
We’re getting somewhere
Being sick is no fun…but being sick on trail! Ugh! I hope you were able to get some rest and food in you.
Absolutely just want to lay in bed but gotta keep moving. It’s weird keep coming out of towns with low energy 🤷♂️
I’ve driven that road many times. It’s beautiful scenery, but I wouldn’t really want to walk it. Way to persevere! 💪
Yeah I did t want to walk it either but it’s the trail this year. Definitely heard of people skipping but that’s not my style
Perfect camping spot🤙👊
So good!!
So happy to see you in Colorado! You are trekking forward…
Big milestone. Now we’re getting somewhere
The mountains are beautiful and nature sounds are wonderful. Don’t need music to drown them out. Just a suggestion. You do a beautiful job with your videos but a little too much music IMHO. ❤
Ya, music can be so personal. Fading the music off when recording natures music would help. Still, enjoying Snazzy’s vids and his journey.
I would love to hear nature sounds out hear but it’s usually wind whipping, a plane flying over, my footsteps or my excessive heavy breathing. The music drowns it out. Thanks for watching
The mountain vista's are beautiful..
Can’t get enough of them!!
Now the challenge is the altitude. Climb high, sleep low. Good luck! Was great to see you in Chama.
Hey Rick!! So nice meeting you guys you what are the chances!! Yeah that’s great advice!
@@nobostone7193 Yeah that was a first. I’ve met a lot of hikers along the CDT but that’s a first for someone I was currently following on TH-cam. The key to the altitude is when your body says stop, it’s time to stop. Hike on!
Liking your choice of music. Surprised by the wild flowers on trail. They look more like garden flowers. I wonder if Colorado introduced them. I guess perennials would do just fine unless the wildlife took a fancy to them.
Memories of walks further north in the Rockies are of wonderful flower displays - thank you for the flower shots (and comedy marmot)
Thanks so much!! Yeah the flowers have really surprised me as well. Loving it!!
Dang o ring. Wish Sawyer could fix that issue. I keep a couple of spares in my first aid kit.
Yeah I thought I had an extra but I guess not. All good now. The guys at Tumble on in Chama helped me out
Just found your channel. Wish I would’ve found it sooner. Now I’ve got a bunch of videos to catch up on. Liked and subscribed too.
Awesome! Thanks for following along!! Binge time!
Wow! Beautiful scenery, animals and flowers! Great job 👏
Finally left New Mexico and on to Colorado. Glad your feet are better and you are feeling so good. Flowers are exquisite. Love you Mike. My friend Dianne Hollister is following you now.
Yes!! Finally! Feet are pretty good. Loving the flowers. Thanks for bringing a friend
Im noticing that beard more. Your name shall be... hobostone 😂
Haha. I just gave it a primitive trim with some scissors so still looking presentable 🤷♂️
2:30 Looks just like Scotland (or is it just our weather). Hope there are no midges. Thanks again.
On my bucket list! Must be a beautiful place
Snazzy your start date has put you in a perfect entry to Colorado. So if your feet can handle it and your not suffering from giardiasis you can do big miles thru Colorado. Stay safe.
Yeah all that worrying for nothing. Looking good out here
Welcome to Colorado!
Yes!!
Fantastic outlook you have I really like your comments about being tested. That really hits deep. Thank you for taking us so long too much to really comment about this video. It really needs to be watched and it’s entirety love absolutely love your morning coffee beautiful
Spectacular views! Yay for beers! Thank you for sharing.
All good things!!
Awesome footage. I remember all those blow downs from another hiker. I'm trying to remember if the blow downs get worse ahead.
They come and go. There are more dead pine trees in Colorado then live ones so far. Just depends where the trail goes.
You’ve got to love a trail angel who hauls in a cooler with beer!
The best!!
Valleys full of dead lodge pole pine ahead.
I started hiking on this trail at the trailhead along the highway that crosses southern CO next to the New Mexico border. You are in for some altitude ahead.
Welcome to Colorado. I am a good friend of your mother in law. I live in Bloomington, Il. I will follow you on the CDT 2:40
Hey welcome!! Thanks for following along! That’s awesome so many great people from Bloomington
Awesome. I guess now I can officially say Welcome to Colorado.
Yes! Finally! Thank you!
