It’s the combination of passion (internal desire) + circumstances (external needs) + talents (capabilities development) = vocation, profession.

Imagine, if you will, the most immersive and complex videogame ever created. And that , in order to dive into your character and world, you forget (for a time) you are the player and absolutely believe you are the character. Well, behold the human life experience here in this third density earth experiment! Spiritual point of view: learning, while in the human experience, takes place mostly through stories. Our own human selfs are made to feel as a story character. And there is no fiction, just mixed metaphors akin to dreams; meaning, all fictional universes created are done so through inspiration, and inspiration is a connection to greater realities. Your movies, series and game lore are all symbols of truth. Not only have I smiled playing video games , I cried and felt emotional, angry, inspired… So, the dopamine rush from gameplay is not my thing, but it is a valid experience. Experiencing a new character and a new world and seeing the paralels with the earth experiment is most delightful.

Yo I really appreciate you sharing your views on the topic but I think we just approach games differently and that approach gives us different views on the topic. You seem to focus on games that get you a dopamine rush such as first person shooter games and your points about people only caring about the graphics of a game comes from how graphics are the main selling point that differentiates those shooters you play. You dont feel you gain anything from this because in the end thee game doesnt even promote fun but only stimulates less (idk the right word to describe but) "meaningful" emotions towards the games you play. All you feel while playing is dopamine from winning, anger from losing, and an attraction to the process from the game's graphics. I on the other hand play nintendo games (obviously, look at my pfp) which dont appeal to the same emotions that the games you play do. Nintendo consols are significantly behind graphically so they dont use that as a main draw to their games and the games themselves dont have that shooter formula of dopamine from wins and inciting anger from losses (exept for the 3 with tournaments) The games i play draw their audience from gameplay and charm and this is the key difference in what people like you and i get out off games. (This is not an ad i actually hate the company) Communities have been arguing for years on whether or not graphics or gameplay are more important and i think you just were attracted to games that promote the wrong one and arent trying to bring you substance. I still do mainly believe that addiction shouldn't be blamed on the subject of the addiction but rather the underlying cause of the addiction itself and that video games as a whole shouldnt be blamed for being an outlet for those issues even though some genres of games practically only exist (imo) to entice and exploit you. All in all, this is still just my extremely biased opinion but i think its good to hear opposing views from others. TLDR: Games are just more stimulating hobbies as long as you pick the right ones and dont lose yourself in them. Also yeah minecraft is boring solo which I dont really think is a video game issue but more a question of: how fun is it to create something if no other person sees or interacts with it?

Okay i watched the video and agree on some of the points made I definitely do agree that things like scrolling on social media do harm to your mental from just being absorbed in other people's lives and the things/experiences few people have but I much less agree on videogames only being played to compensate for some lack of achievement or fulfillment in one's life. Call me biased because of my pfp but videogames are not just a negative aspect in ones life like they are being made out as here. They are just a hobby like anything else and if someone gets addicted to them its not the subject of the addictions fault but rather the fault of the individual for not being able to balance their individual fun with their other priorities. It is true that video games typically have no value for you in the real world, but what is wrong with that? What is the problem with feeling achievement from doing something in a game? Isn't that just like every other hobby? I dont agree with the idea that people only play games as a filler for something more productive and I don't believe that anyone who finds something more productive to do will naturally give up videogames. Some will just value their other interests over videogames, which is perfectly fine and reasonable. In the end, like I said before, if you are treating them right, then they are just a hobby which can be put aside at any time but are also perfectly fine to bring you satisfaction or a sense of belonging because in comparison to something like scrolling social media it really is a social thing too be apart of. Though this is all my opinion, I do agree that parts under the entire umbrella of video games do cause issues in the people who play them (gacha and gambling mechanics or just toxic environments and communities) but in the end you can't deny the entire activity because of people's bad priorities, attitudes, and the exploitative designers targeting them. Social media culture does gotta go though :P Tldr: Don't hate the game. Hate the player.

Don't get discouraged. When I was a young street preacher, I came to understand I was up against a whole culture that controlled the lives of the young men I would engage in conversation. And it has only gotten worse. I did some online research. The average daily time late teens spend on impersonal activities is the following. Five hours social media. One and a half house on video games. TV takes up another 3 hours. Music takes up three hours. And finally school requires about seven hours. There is some overlap, but there is reason teens suffer from sleep deprivation. The above is reality for many and life has become an invisible prison. Few would dare enter into another reality and become different from their peers.

When young I did street evangelism for a sponsoring church. The church also opened up a teen night club with 'Christian' rock. The rationale was that secular entertainment was merely the bait on the hook to attract a young crowd. Music then a short message between sets. My counter argument: why not hire young topless librarians in order to get guys to read more books? I later left when they wanted me to water down the Gospel message in order to make conversions easier. Make Jesus the genie in the bottle who will grant your every wish. Topless librarians? lol
