      Typically about 2300 -2600 is a sweet spot I like to sit in. I don't generally take it much past 4500 rpm even when I'm being moderately aggressive. 3000-4500 to overtake if I'm gunning it. It'd be very rare to go up to 5000 for me. It's a push rod bike - I don't like thrashing it that much.

    • @aussiemotolife347
      @aussiemotolife347 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a huge difference and I certainly think it rides like a different bike. Whether I truly trust the HP figures on the Dyno is another matter. On the surface of things it seems too high but I can see the CF adjustment factor on the dyno chart which isn't overinflated for the temperature and I have seen someone else's bike in a different state with similar numbers at a different dyno facility. S&S doesn't quote anything like that HP for this cam though - so confused about it.

      I wasn't quite sure whether to make this vid. In reality it's just bolting a bit of angle onto a certain type of wheel chock. However I have seen a few very similar cheap and heavy ones on the market because obviously it's still Chinese probably. When I compared it to the top of the range USD300 ones I thought well there's hardly any difference and I did it for about a total of AUD 100 - so USD 70 or something... So I don't know, some people might find it a useful video if they haven't thought of doing it.

      I completely agree, I have a 2021 Sportglide with a Star Racing 30 / 30 cam and a long 2 into 1 exhaust, dyno tuned with a Powervision tuner, 120 hp is a high number and 102 with stage 1 is impossible to believe, how would you jump 20 HP with an exhaust and new A / C?

  • @davidgilding3549
    @davidgilding3549 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great cam, I have it on my Sport Glide. Did you vent the crankcase ? I have a Feuling vented dipstick that passes through a one way valve and into a T piece. From the T piece one line goes into the crankcase side of the transmission top cover ( this way any oil forced out of the dipstick can return ) the other line goes up to a small air filter just behind the rear cylinder exhaust ( the idea of it being here is any air drawn in when running will be warm to prevent condensation) I have never had any of the problems with oil in the filter with this set-up ! Not had it on a Dyno yet but it sure goes 😁 !

    • @aussiemotolife347
      @aussiemotolife347 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'day David - I haven't had any problem with oil in the air filter and I have been watching for it. I've done about 5000kms however only maybe 500 with the new cam. Mine is a 2022 model and I know the later models (post 2020?) had a different oil pump. I think they changed the bias on the oil pump scavenging to 50:50 from the cam cover to the crankcase vs 60:40 in the older pump. Don't quote me on that - that's just from memory. Re: the cam I'm very happy with and it pulls hard - but it's very useable power and is still a pleasure to ride right through the rev range. I can't say the same for the tune I had on my Stage 1 setup - pretty sure that was all because of poor tuning.

I have actuall found another person with similar figures withe the same cam at a different dyno facility in a different state so make of that what you will. I can see their adjust figure on the dyno chart and it seems reasonable ie. for the temperature on the day. What did I have at stage 1… a Rinehart 2 into 1, a maximus tuner and an Arlen Ness Drift inverted air filter… I can tell you that the bike really is a different animal now and a real pleasure to ride right through to about 4750 rpm where I normally call it quits out of mechanical sympathy. It is a push rod engine after all.

    That’s a great result. Those M8 engines might not have ye old character of Harley’s gone by. But for an air cooled, pushrod driven motor, they respond really well to some basic modifications. Have you noticed any additional heat from the horsepower and torque increase?

The 465 makes most of its power from 2500 onwards and the 475 comes on later. Mostly I want the power where I mostly use it. The power from the 465 is still better at every point after 2500 anyway if you look at the torque curve. Also cams with more aggressive lobes are harder on the engine in terms of longevity and the 465 isn’t supposed to be too bad for the engine in terms of idle sound I think it still sounds great.

    Hi, very useful video. Can I just check, that Arlen Ness part number is definitely correct? If I look it up on Hog Parts here in the UK it says 02-972 is specifically for 19" or larger front wheels and doesn't quote any bikes. However they quote part number 02-973 as being compatible with the FLSB ( though the description says again its for 19" wheels and we know FLSB is 18"). The outside diameter of the disc seems the same at 15"

    • @aussiemotolife347
      @aussiemotolife347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely used 02-972 - I still have the picture Roger Felgner who makes the adapter sent me with the label and that's what I ordered. The important thing is the disc size because you are only using the disc. You don't use the adapter that Arlen Ness gives you at all because they are only for normal forks and ours are inverted forks. So if you could ascertain that the disc in the 02-973 is the same as 02-972 in every respect it would make no difference which one you use.

    Gravel on track tyres. Sounds like fun lol

      I guess they aren't truly track tyres - they are street legal... Maybe track ready would be a better description of them. They are Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP v3's. They still made me nervous on the gravel because they've done nearly 5000 km's now and are getting pretty worn. The back seemed to be spinning on the dirt and of course it was squirming around. I stayed well away from the front brake lol

    Nice ride! Audio sounds great buddy. Wow the WW2 bikes were incredible I would have liked to see more of them. Love seeing a wide variety of bikes riding together. A lot of people in the states tend to ride with only people on the same brands smh 🤦. Not always though. Great video 👍

      These guys are in my social riding club - they all come from around my local government area ie. the Sutherland Shire. So that's why we have different bikes - you just have to "live around here" ☺I'm lucky because I have a foot in both camps - A HD Softail Sport Glide and a Naked Sport Bike - the Street Triple RS 765. I love them both and they both bring different things to the table.

      Hi UNR! thanks mate! - yep pretty happy with the mic - it did better than I expected. Clearer than my Purple Panda so far!

    First let me say that those roads look like a blast!! Ok. Audio sounded great!! Is that the Bluetooth version?? Or is it the kind you plug directly into the GoPro? Good video man!!

      Thanks KG - it’s just a wired version that goes directly into a GoPro media mod TRS socket. It doesn’t need a TRRS to TRS adapter like the Purple Panda though. I did have a really great time the weather was really nice too.
