With this channel our goal is to document, educate, and/or entertain in every video with our daily work. We are currently rotationally grazing roughly 300 head of goats in conjunction with a cow herd on leased land in North Texas. A large portion of videos will be aimed at rotational grazing and multi-species grazing.

Looking Back 2023
Take a look back at the past year we've had at Habig Livestock. The end of 2023 marks the first full year we've lived in Montana! Even though it looks like all we do is vacation and spend time with guard dogs, we spent a lot of time with sheep. We are still learning so much about our new home, as well as meeting new people in the ag world. Happy New Year from us!

Looking Back at 2022
มุมมอง 913ปีที่แล้ว
Take a look back at the past year we've had at Habig Livestock. There were a few BIG changes this year! The first half of the year was very similar to years past, we enjoyed kidding our nanny herd and had a great litter of guard dog puppies born. The second half of the year brought significant changes. We sold our whole herd to Noble Research in order to take an opportunity in Montana. We hope ...
Selling The Herd
มุมมอง 2.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
We sold the herd! It was definitely a bittersweet day, but we're glad they are staying together as one herd and being managed in a regenerative manner. We're also excited that we will be able to see how they're doing even years from now. Information on Noble Research Institute: www.noble.org

Kidding Has Started
มุมมอง 6292 ปีที่แล้ว
Kidding has started here at Habig Livestock. We are doing things a little differently this year because of drought and getting a more accurate weaning rate. We explain how things are going and show you around the pasture. www.habiglivestock.com
Preparing For Kidding
มุมมอง 1.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
www.habiglivestock.com To prepare for kidding this year we decided to split our yearling nannies from our older nannies to kid out. We talk through our thought process on why we did this instead of leaving everything in one herd. We also show you the sorting process with our sort gate.
Supplementing the Herd - Preparing for Kidding
มุมมอง 9092 ปีที่แล้ว
We announce the winner of our subscriber giveaway and take you along to supplement the herd with protein. We also had a tree that had fallen on a permanent fence, so we removed it and braced the fence back.
Right Side of the Tracks
มุมมอง 5992 ปีที่แล้ว
We moved the herd to their new paddock which was on the other side of the tracks. This was an easier move than the previous railroad move, but we thought you guys would like to come along. Fencing Rig
มุมมอง 2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
We go over our fencing rig in detail, specifically the pieces we use to unroll and roll the polywire. We had linked the website where we had purchased this, but they are since out of business. So hopefully this video helps anyone wanting to make their own version.

Mending Fence & Updating The Dog Feeder
Great ideas
👍👍👍.
I’m currently using a Jobe Rojo float valve with good success for a low psi system like this. It feeds to the bottom of the tank as opposed to the top like yours so you get about an extra foot of head pressure.
Good video thanks
Good video, you got it figured out!
Loved that tribute you added to your dog. Glad he got to live a good life. Any huge differences you’ve noticed going from goats to sheep? My sheep, woolies, will eat just about the same things my boer crosses did. Maybe just a bit less aggressive about it.
Just when I found your channel too ugh. So sad about this. Found an old video of yours I guess and thought I found a new small ruminant grazing channel
We plan to start posting in the future again, not sure on when though. So hopefully there will be more goat related content soon!
Def glad I found your channel
Good looking herd
I have been trying this for weeks. I have adjusted the height for my nigerian dwarf goats. They still either jump over or squeeze through. Maybe full size goats are dumber than dwarfs?
I have had both. And I will never have Nigerians again because I can’t keep them in anything, even when they are in a heaven of browse. They just want to be where they are not, and they can get through a tiny gap, and jump higher than any other goat I have had. Getting onto the hood of my truck was nothing for them. My LaManchas have none of these issues. Very easy to keep and give 3 or 4 times the milk.
Where’d you get your drench gun?
Oh yes you can see them jumping when they get hit. I need that to keep out whatever or whoever
Good to know, I just bought a place in Ark and have lots of saplings, have been debating on sheep or goats? Thanks for the info.
I for one miss your videos, would like to see more but thank you for taking me to Montana I've always wanted to go I hope this is the best year yet for you all
What a great recap of your year in MT. Looking forward to what 2024 has in store for you!
What is the spacing that you use? I plan to use your method to split a pasture. Height of both strands would be appreciated!
Thanks for the video. I like the design. I wanted to let you know that your flag is hung incorrectly. When hanging vertically you should be able to rotate it horizontally and it display correctly. You have it in a sign of distress, as when you rotate it, it would display upside down, or in a sign of distress.
what did you use for the rubber, any idea how thick it is? im in a state of sticker shock for silicone rubber and even used conveyor belting.
Nice info sir... New subscriber... thanks sir GodBless 🙏
Sadly my goats have become very accomplished jumpers & that's what they do when they aren't darting between strands of fencing. As a last resort before simply taking them to a sale I've put shock collars on the ringleaders in an attempt to convince them that the fence can reach out & bite them from a couple of feet away. We'll see how this works but a couple of days in it's looking promising.
Really educational, but my situation is different, the corners, have jumpers/climbers in the corners.
Too bad he never shows it with live animals.
We have a few videos working goats with the pens. Feel free to look them up.
Helped a lot thanks Going for same thing in Sonoma CA
thanks
Well done. Can you walk through your pond pumps
Thanks for the video. Have you had any issues with moving them to other pastures and not respecting the fence there?
That's a great idea. Mine ran right thru, but they've never been in one, and when they got shocked they just took straight off lol
that was the best insight into how a goat thinks and the mistakes I have been making
Great Look Back at 2022! I enjoy your videos greatly and hope that they keep coming. Welcome to Montana. We are excited to have you here. You have taught me much about small ruminants. Thank you.
I wonder where they sleep, do they always go to their home at night? Can you also make a vlog about their housing or shelter at night.
Brilliant, thankyou for sharing.
Good stuff
Seems like the grass touches your polywire. That reduces the voltage right? Is that ok that it touches the grass? I think its grounded and probably will drain the battery fast.
This video is very useful for me these days.❤
Ok. This is my new/next dream.🌻
This is Greg Judy's design... but you need to use a feeder that doesn't need the lid propped open
Jeepers too bad I didn’t see this video earlier I could have maybe stopped in to check out the operation when we went to Cooke City snowmobiling. We went right by there on I90 on our way there and back to Minnesota. Looks like a pretty neat opportunity!
What is the spacing for the mineral boxes and how many minerals are you doing?
How the dogs get in there ??
Welcome to Montana. There is going to be a soil health conference in Billings February 7-9 if your interested.
Very cool guys! I'd like to hear you recap your experience in the feedlot as well as opportunities on cover crops if you ever need a video idea 👍 and guard dog 101
I was sure glad to see a video posted from you guys, I miss seeing you all with the goats but it seems to me like your new adventure is working really well for you and I am so glad hope you all had a Merry Christmas and I hope you have a fantastic New Year can't wait for the next video
Good luck to Y’all on your new adventure.Hope you keep the channel going.Us folks in Texas want to keep up with you.
What breed of sheep did you get.
What an adventure for 2022!
Put that toll higher off the ground
Excellent video - thanks!
Excellent video - thanks! New subscriber here.
Thank you very much for this video. I had given up on running goats at my place because of all the horror stories of goats breaking out of any kind of fence. I think “ electric fence training” may be the secret sauce that I’ve been missing.
My first video and looking forward to seeing more!
