The Tooth: The Tooth Fairy \\\\ Sunset Sport Climbing
With very little plans after our main goal of the west ridge of Mt Stuart the day before, Ed was looking through the Classic Cascade Climbs book and found The Tooth Fairy route on The Tooth that quickly became our objective on our way back to Seattle.
-
The Tooth Fairy is 5.9+ 6 pitch sport route was a lot of fun, Ed and I swung leads with Ed taking the crux pitch. Even though we were chasing the sun and were a little low on draws for the route, we were able to complete the climb and get an amazing summit with the sun going down. Our descent went fast with the twin 70 M, but it still involved some night time rapping, which was actually very fun.

An alpine climb that involves 85% amazing class 3 to 4 scrambling on bomber granite and 15% of solid trad climbing! - Technical climbing involved 5 to 6 pitches of 100 feet up to 5.6 or 5.7, we found this step by step guide very helpful when prepping for the route and our entire trip! rocknropenw.com/2023/08/03/mount-stuart-west-ridge/ - After spending our first half day hiking past Ingals lake...

Having already completed this trail over 3 days with heavy backpacks, it was time to come back and run it in a day with light packs! - An amazing day where we dodged the afternoon thunderstorms and got to enjoy a long run/power hike through the Maroon Bells! - Strava Stats: 27.7 mi, 8,400 ft of gain - 8-19-24
Mount Siyeh: Grizzly Bear Central \\\\ Glacier National Park
มุมมอง 29K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
After hiking over 50 miles over 3 days in Glacier National Park, I would have never have guessed the place we would see Grizzly Bears was at 9500 feet near Mount Siyeh! - What was meant to be a chill Class 3 scramble day, turned into a bit more than we bargained for as 7 grizzly bears stood between us and the summit. This didn't stop us from having an amazing day by completing the hike over Siy...
Cube Point: Scrambling in Grand Teton National Park
มุมมอง 3723 หลายเดือนก่อน
If you want to trad climb, don't leave the climbing harness at home! - What started as an ideal plan of going for an easy trad day turned into a scramble for different plans after discovering my harness was not in my bag. However, utilizing Mountain Project and The Climbers Guide to Grand Teton NP, we soon realized that our goal had a class 4 scramble off the back side instead, so that turned i...
Mount Borah: How Not to Climb Idaho's Tallest Peak
มุมมอง 1K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
All plans look great when looking at it on a map! - A 4th of July summit that started out as a very fun ridge scramble, turned into a marble covered slip and slide to regain the normal route. Despite it taking 10.5 hours to summit and only 2.5 hours to get back to the car, we couldn't have asked for better weather as we attempted the Northwest Ridge route on Idaho's Tallest Peak! Shane and I ha...
Pfeiferhorn: Skiing Utah's Little Matterhorn
มุมมอง 1.5K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
"The plan has changed" - Cody Townsend - Sometimes the line you want to ski is not in, so you ski the backup line and still have a great time! Alex and Shane carried the rope all the way to the top of Utah's Little Matterhorn for an attempt at the NW couloir, but after waiting around for it to soften, it never did, soa we decided to just ski the softer SE face instead! - 4-20-24
McMilan Peak: Skiing Bluebird Powder in the San Juans
มุมมอง 1747 หลายเดือนก่อน
When a storm dumps two feet of snow, you put the ice tools down and grab the skis! - Due to high avi danger, we still had to keep it mellow, but days like today were days you dream of for back country skiing! Our first time touring in the San Juans and it definitely won't be the last! - 8 Miles and 3k feet of vert - 2-4-24
Ouray Ice Climbing: Charmin Tube
มุมมอง 2818 หลายเดือนก่อน
My proudest lead of the trip and my last ice climb of our Ouray Brotastic Adventure! - A day where I had decided not to record anything, as I wanted to enjoy the day myself without thinking about what shots to get or telling people to do anything for B roll. However, my friends captured enough footage that I thought I would put together this video and share it with everyone! - The setting and c...
Ouray Ice Climbing: Horsetail Falls

Ice climbing side by side with your best friend is one awesome experience! - Horsetail Falls was the second climb of Day 2 of our ice climbing trip to Ouray, Colorado, and boy was it fun! The approach to the base of this climb is an experience in itself, descending down to the river directly off the Million Dollar Highway to be surrounded by stone walls and a roaring river! For the climb, it wa...
Ouray Ice Climbing: Dexter Slabs
มุมมอง 4738 หลายเดือนก่อน
Just a fun day out with the guys! - Our first climb of Day 2 of our Brotastic Ice Climbing Adventure Trip! Due to the heavy snowfall, we had to abandon the Eureka climbing plans and head to climbs with lower overhead hazard, but that didn't stop us from having a blast at Dexter Slabs/Falls just outside of Ouray, CO! Great to get Insane Shane back on the tools again as well, as we slowly turn hi...
Colorado Ice Climbing: A Eureka Ice Classic!
มุมมอง 5749 หลายเดือนก่อน
My first multi pitch ice lead, and one epic day out with my friends! - Typically considered one of the many classics, along with Stairway to Heaven and Highway to Hell, WHH can easily be seen why its a classic! An awesome first pitch, followed by a second scramble/trudge up a gulley, and then a final option to choose 1 of 2 ice climbs at the top makes it one great adventure! With the avi-danger...
Utah Ice Climbing: Deer Creek Falls
มุมมอง 59311 หลายเดือนก่อน
Talk about taking your tools for a long walk in search of ice! - One of those days that is more about the overall adventure with your friends than the quality/quantity of ice. We were just happy to find some and practice some rope systems while exploring a new place! - Shane and I had original plans to climb in Big Cottonwood Canyon, however the plan changed when the Avi forecast went up, so we...

Our most memorable adventure yet! - The day trip to Granite Mountain with Tuck and Robin lakes was a day we won't forget, as it was the perfect place for me to pop the question! If you are looking for better views, it would be hard to top this amazing place, with views of most of the cascade volcanoes, Mt. Daniel, Mt. Stuart, and Dragontail peak, its a place that needs to be seen to believe. It...
