I am not an electronic engineer nor am i old in the vintage HiFi game. When I’m repairing the equipment I therefore rely on your knowledge. I share what I find, and i hope you will make a comment, if the knowledge I find is outdated of if it helped you in anyway.
This is a brand new TH-cam channel, so please bear with me and be patient while I’m learning how all of this works. Any suggestions on improvement, topics or equipment to test will be very much appreciated.

Making room for my new Vintage HIFI projects - Can you guess what they are?
In this video you can see the progress I've made building this youTube Channel. A lot goes on behind the camera and this video is primarily a cleanup video, where I make room in the studio. I also reveal some very exciting new projects that you will see me working on in the nearest future. JBL 4406, Luxman L100, Luxman PD131 and new Infinity Quantum Line Source 3 are amongst my new projects.

มุมมอง 6927 ปีที่แล้ว
I bought an old FONA (Nippon Sound) SR-660 Reciever for 10$ and i don't know if it is working. So i'll be using my Lübcke Variac to gently turn on the device for the first time and test if the Receiver is working.

Luxman L30 presentation
มุมมอง 6K7 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a presentation of the Luxman L30 / L30A Amplifier. It's a Vintage amplifier of very high build quality like Kenwood, Marantz, Technics, Pioneer and so on from the 70s. This video is an introduction to the project where i'll make this amplifier run another 30 years.
👍 I am glad that I discovered your channel. My whole audio devices are vintage and I love to see the vintage stuff from others. Best regards from Germany near the danish border and fingers crossed for your channel......😉
Hallo @cooper6086. Thank you for dropping by my channel. Vielen dank :D What kind of equipment do you have? :D Are there any brand that you do like? Thank you for you support and hopefully my videos will come with at higher frequency in the future. Moin :D
@@vintagehifithings Hej....😀 Well, I am not a HighEnd guy. My devices are all midclass to midclass+, I would say. My stuff in the livingroom are a Denon PMA-2000R amplifier, a Denon AU-320 step up transformer for my MC cartridges, a Micro Seiki BL-51 beltdrive turntable with SME 3009 tonearm and two diect drive turntables. A Micro Seiki DD-6 and a Kenwood KD-750. At least JBL-4430 loudspeakers. All bought used for more or less little money and refurbished by myself from 2020 on, when I restarted with analog Hifi. You see it's nothing special but it works really fine and I am very satisfied. Brands I do like are Denon, Luxman, Accuphase, Micro Seiki, Revox......somehow all brands had good stuff and sometimes not so good stuff. I like them all.....but I haven't enough space......😉 You can see that I am really focussed on turntables......... I wish you a lot of fun with your channel...........
uhh that's some nice stuff you got! Vintage HIFI is incredible in that way that you can get remarkably good sound quality for little money... I also like the Accuphase, but have never heard any amplifier I have only seen and read about them. But some day I perhaps can afford one :D Thanks the cheering of this channel. Hopefully I'll be back with some repairing/restoring videos soon ;) And I actually think I have an Micro Seiki turntable project in the basement as well 😂
@@vintagehifithings 😉
Hey, nice collection! I think all the different components and how they interact is what makes hifi so interesting. I would be interested in viewing how you diagnose equipment that isn’t working, thanks.
Thank you @christopher3963 🙏 Yeah, and some combinations of components are like magic 🤩 And you can remember How they sounded for many years 😅 And you probably regret if you sell one of the components and can’t get that specific sound back 😅 The plan was to do some diagnosing in the future videos. I’m not an electronic expert, so my amateur skills can only take me so long on the projects, but I always start with the basics and that have turned out ok so far 😅Are there any pieces you are particularly interested in? 🤩
I buy a lot of vintage hifi too, it's addictive. Although I have bought some real bad examples recently. Hit and miss with this hobby. I tried and failed to repair a Kenwood KA 2000 amplifier today. Not feeling good about my repair skills or the money I spent on it either! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Sounds like you have had a few tough years recently.
Yeah mee too 🙈 I once bought an Luxman with print board broken in two pieces 😅 And the previously owner said that it was just a minor defect 😂 Uhh that Kenwood looks nice 🤩👍 Definitely worth saving 🤩 Does it sound good? For my part it’s not the components that you end up buying, but the time you use to find the problems. 😅Yeah they haven’t been easy all of them but now I at least have some time for my hobby 😅 Comments like these motivates me a lot to keep going 👍🤩
@@vintagehifithings it sounded good but I replaced some transistors, firs time I have ever done anything like that and I have done something wrong as it sounds worse.
🙈 That doesn’t sound good. I once did a replacement of some transistors. The specs matched OK, so I put the new one in precisely as the old one. Only to find that the legs on the new transistor were switched. On the old transistor it was base emitter collector BEC, and on the new transistor it was BCE. Maybe that’s the case for you as well? (It’s a long shot I know 🙈)
@@vintagehifithings I think I have done something along those lines. I saw the data sheet and a video on TH-cam that showed where the ECB pinouts were on the transistors but I didn't see it marked on the board and had to go by how the old transistors were originally. I spent 6 hrs yesterday as my soldering iron wasn't getting hot enough! Had enough of it now.
@@AlexMitchell-sj4sb sounds like you’ll just have to wait until the “spirit” and joy gets you going again 😅 Hopefully soon 🙏
Happened upon your channel and what a great start- Luxman.
Thanks alot @audiononsense1611 - Are you a Luxman fan too?
Nice♡♤
interesting...how did you connect it to the Variac? can't see clearly in video.
There are some good videos on TH-cam on how to connect your variac… I think I followed a video from Mr. carlsons Lab. Definitely a great inspiration on electronic repairs 👍 Otherwise I’ll se if I can make a simple video explaining how I sat up mine 👍🤩
What happened to your channel? You seemed to have some unusual pieces.
Hi Sirtainlee8725. I’m Sorry. Better latte that never 😅 I had such great plans with my Channel but then life came in the way 😅 But now i Think it is time to start over… and the good part is, that even though I didn’t make any videos I kept collecting equipment. 😅So stay tuned I will reboot this channel in December. 🤩👍
US$10 for getting this vintage? how does it sound like?
Yeah, sometimes you are lucky 😅 It sounded nice and warm but not that much power 😅And it wasn’t worth it putting a lot of energy or money into it 😫
Hi. I bought one back in the 70s. Still going good in 2020.
I bought one in the seventies.....now I have five of them .....one is with an engraved front panel...be careful when reconditioning not losing the beautiful sound !
you could have turned on the amplifier a little bit to hear the sound and not just talk
Yeah my bad!!! Seems like I need to do a proper Luxman L30 presentation video soon 👍
Bla bla bla
Yes! My bad! The next video I’ll try and make it better 👍
Hello, your accent tells me, that you might be german. The "Audioscan" label on the backside of your amp was the famous Copenhagen store "Audioscan", that sold the "creme de la creme" high-end back in the 70´es, when I was a young man who often visited the store, and unfortunately did not have the money to buy the best af the best ...e.g. "creme de la creme". At that time some hifi engineers broke out from Kenwood in Japan, which was full of some of the worlds best hifiengineers. Some of them build Accuphase, which today, as you all know, is reckoned maybe the finest of all hifi amps, when it comes to pure transistor amps. Others builded the Nikko firm, which also made some extremely well sounding amps, but never reached the hights of Accuphase. I am so lucky to have an Accuphase E-202 and a Nikko TRM 750. Both are in perfect condition, and sounds so good, that many of todays amplifiers does not stand a chance, when competing to these old champs. I will finish by saying, that on a scale to 10 I will rank the E-202 to 9 and the TRM 750 to 7.5 due to a better refined treble in the Accuphase. But your amp is still a very good tip toing amplifier indeed...no doubt!
Hey Michael. Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge and insights! That's what this channel is all about. I am to very impressed with this amplifier. unfortunately i sold it to make room for other brands and hifi equiptment... Instant regret! :D Oh well, i might be lucky and find another again some time. Thank you again for sharing :D
I think the Labs Division Had more advanced designs than accuphase did at least initially And I'm thinking of the L series Sigma Servo , external power supplies Like the LO8 , LO7 II , LO7-D
Hi...I've these fantastic Luxman ampli in perfect condition...I would like to know which bookshelf vintage speakers are well associated with this model of amplifier ... I would say that I listen to all kinds of music. Thanks for the advices
Hi Luc. Congratulation on you lovely Luxman! :D So i guess that you already found some speakers by now :D I found that you can easily pair a set of more analytical sounding speaker because of the warmth of the Luxman sound. I have pair mine with a set of System Audio 905, but i'm very curious to know what you choose? :D
