EPIC PLUMBING FAIL HITTING SEWER LINE 💩 DIY Building An Orlando Airbnb
มุมมอง 11K3 วันที่ผ่านมา
Today was supposed to be a routine day of removing and hauling away the old concrete driveway and grading the property for the installation of new pavers. Unfortunately, the heavy machinery we used damaged the city sewer line, causing the ceramic pipe to shatter. We discovered that the city had installed the pipe only 4 to 6 inches below the surface of the road, which is not up to code. Now for...
DRYWALL MUD TEXTURE NIGHTMARE 😡 DIY Building An Orlando Airbnb
มุมมอง 4979 วันที่ผ่านมา
Today, I visited the Airbnb garage apartment and was surprised to find that the drywall team had created a frustrating mess throughout the building. It only takes a few minutes to cover the electrical outlets, but they skipped this step and ended up spraying texture over the outlets and sockets. Is this typical behavior for drywall contractors? Fortunately, my contractor returned to the project...

UNACCEPTABLE FLORIDA JOB SITE 😡 DIY Building An Orlando Airbnb

It was a frustrating day on the job site as the drywall team left the new lumber balcony a mess, with drywall mud all over the rails and stairs. Regardless, I've got the team coming back to clean up the site and remove all the mud from the balcony and floors. They d...

Cast iron sucks
@@miomine3527 it sure does 😭
Great post losers
@@user-lk5cj5zg1u lovely lol
Sounds like the city messed up on the city should fix it
Ain’t that some shit
So they replaced the pipe 4-6in deep again? So it's bound to happen again?
Probably. But the only other option would be to replace the entire sewer line, and I imagine that's a little expensive and not entirely practical.
@@JonnyFlame10 it was 70+ year old ceramic pipe, they replaced with PVC and I’m pouring 6 inch concrete on top
@JonnyFlame10 it will be good, pipes like everything are meant to take on some weight..eventually it will collapse, but not in our lifetime..pipes come in different thickness..that cast iron pipe was probably 100yrs old..but cast iron sucks because it's prone to getting clogged because it gets rusted in the inside..and plastic pipes stay slippery..
Call before you dig.
@@MrMikeyt65 lol I called 811 before we dug. This is the city’s fault and they replaced it all.
same thing happened to me at my house spent too much money fixing it
@@sah_alphasah_terraria9749 oh wow, I’m sorry. If it’s city side the city should repair it. That was the case for me.
Shouldn’t that have been marked by the people you call before you dig? Or is this work shallow enough you don’t need to call and have it surveyed?
@@bradszymanski9910 in this particular case we weren’t aware that the sewer line was only 4-6 inches below the road. The pipe itself was on the bottom the slab. The city just said it’s an old house but it’s not to their code. I’m just happy the replaced it all with new pipe so I don’t have to worry about it
😮😮😮
That cities fault? Or y’all gotta pay?
@@AdamantAlpha City thank goodness, they actually installed new PVC but I’m still highly questioning the depth. Crazy
Just common sense....
If you went to the drawing you wouldn't get a failed inspection
Yup, unfortunately we live in a world where contractors aren’t doing their due diligence and working at pace to make money quicker.
That lintels sitting on the single block at the front looks pretty wibbily wobbly too 😂
just hire a power washer when the job all done like a normal builder.
@@scuba130 I think the moral of the story is respect your customer as if you were working on your own home.
Pretty normal
@@jamesray4501 good to know. I was under the impression they would cover the outlets etc for protection. Can’t imagine sticking paper in them wouldn’t take longer than 5 mins
OSHA called
Is that rule because of potential corrosion of the rebar? Would an oxide coat make any difference, I wonder?
@@pedclarkemobile honestly I’m not sure but really good question.
I suspect this is a case of getting what you pay for.
Drywall hangers, get paid by the board, not to clean up. I’m surprised they took it out of the house.
...isnt it water soluble?
Shouldn't matter. The job should be left in the same condition as when they started.
@eckstahsee depending on the contract or agreements...not alwayhe case. Such as a when the foundation is poured, they arent required to fix the grass around it since its going to get landscaped.
Back charge them and use a different company next time. Leaving a job like that is completely unacceptable, and they certainly know it. Hopefully the stairs come clean. It can be really tough to get ground in dirt and drywall out of wood planks. There's a reason products like ramboard are sold.
Not acceptable they should clean and do it for free ofc cuz they should come prepared to try to keep the area clean i mean when i was an electrician we would put plastic on your floors and were not even to much dirty shot these guys tho nahh
@@FadedDetailz agreed. I had them remove all the mud and material from the new deck. My electrician would have been pissed if he found the mud like that.
Didja write the check yet? If not then not acceptable, and they should come back and clean up. If you already paid, good luck getting clean up.
@@TsunamiKitten completely agree. I actually just told him that and he came back within 24 hours to clean up. Good for him :)
Not acceptable at all!
No, don’t have them come back and clean it up. You run the risk of them doing further damage or making a bigger mess. I have run into this in the past. I always have my crew clean it and then I bill them for it. Now my crew is the punch or crew so master mason , master carpenter, two assistants, one journeyman electrician and myself. Can you imagine how fast the hourly wages of those gentlemen go up.
@@shooterthompson1275 great comment, thank you
Makes me curious what kind of business you have. Is it worth it maintaining an electrical license over subbing it out? I always sub electrical and plumbing work, seems like more hassle than the extra profit would be worth. Genuinely curious, I've got 5 regular guys and a crew of Mexicans I bring in on things like block and roofing.
@@austinbrown5426 I’m actually in residential real estate and this is my second building project as owner builder. My first run was a learning curve, this second run I have a little more experience so I’m spotting a lot more outside of the city inspections
@@austinbrown5426I am the senior foreman for a commercial contractor.
Everyone back out? One man can do that in less than half an hour, Damn!
@@gregfisher189 Yes, it’s frustrating that the inspector couldn’t find wait for the adjustments but we got there quickly and passed the next day
We learn through mistakes thanks for having the bollocks to say it, just had a fail on wall ties myself we had perfect 900 ties but our cavity was 150 ties should be every 750
What size r them pillars
Our blocks have grooves for each rebar at the proper distance. It's a nice system.
Get your block foreman up there and make him fix it. I hope they charge you for another inspection
This is an older post but that exactly what happened. All sorted 👍
😮😮😮
what happened?
Oh boy, oh boy. My electrician decided to drill through the block directly into my sewer & water line. Luckily it’s all shut off but I’m still baffled.
About to enter my apprenticeship as an electrician. How do you avoid this properly?
There should be a set of plans at the job site for all trades and being that it looks like the walls were closed and they couldn’t see the plumbing pipes he should have double check the plans for anything that could be running in that wall
In this particular case, all the electrician had to do is look up and they would of seen the plumbing sewer line which obviously ran down through the block wall. My best advice, always take a step back, think for a moment before you drill into a wall especially when it’s block concrete.
Ok so I'm an electrician. Normally we would try and find a work around. The dude who did that was having a shit day and his day is gonna get a lot worse when the GC finds out.
Unfortunately for him I’m the GC on the project and you’re correct in saying he was having a bad day. He apologized and made it right. On the bright side he passed his electrical inspection and he assured me he will pay attention. 👍
Sound track is mint
Absolutely!!! Seeing him love this week
It would be nice to see the actual condo and not a roof top view of the sky.
Not taken, these were my early TH-cam days. This home sold a long time ago.
and this is why permits and inspections are so important. im going to say this is not life or death "im and idiot so dont judge me" but iv seen so many contractors take the cheap easy way out. its so important to even keep track of material. i had a tile guy charge me double the price of the most expensive tile. list a number of boxes of tile at a set price. and count half the boxes. after this tile install i saw the guy braking my extra tile so there was no extra to replace it with. had a fun day in court with that one.
100% agree and I’m sorry to hear that. I’m on red alert watching these contractors but the inspections definitely save the day in some occasions

For the 30 minutes it would take, a decent general would fix it their self just to keep the job rolling. edit: makes all the difference with the little extra effort. especially if you were pumping blocks the next day or something.
