I’m a 4th year apprentice plumber. I had to cut 2 6” carbon steel with acetylene torch. I cut the beveled freehand and cleaned it up with a grinder. Cutting the bevel reduced the time needed to grind a clean bevel, but this is clean! I’ll have to try this next time!
I won't lie to kick that horrible. Always cut going up hill do the start stop by kicking it up on the drop side and feather back in when starting again
I'll be better if you put the torch tip straight on the line and cut forward at the same angle as if you were cutting with a bevel machine you'll have a cleaner and straight cut . Nice job man
I guess this is an old school torch hand style, as a Pipefitter I would just cut it with a bandsaw, or cutting disk, and then bevel it with a grinder. He is still going to have to clean it up with a grinder anyway to prep it to fit up and weld it out.
Was beveling 18" fixed position today about 1 ft off the ground. Looked about that good maybe a little worse. Helps to have your support hand right near the torch head. Good shit tho, beveling pipe in any position aint no spring breeze
Hello sir it's been a while since you post the video, just wanted to know what tip are you using and if you have use this method with c900 pipe by any chance? Thank you
Rick it’s a 15 degree router bit 1/2” shank with a lower bearing. The brand was a Freud. I wasn’t a big fan of beveling freehand, so I built a table to set the pipe in and fixed the router at the head of the table. Now I would proudly get a cordless router with the router table plate and the 15 degree bit that fits your router. I would measure the length of the chamfer on the manufactuers end of your C900 pipe and see if you can match the router bit to have at least that length. Good luck.
Sebastian Rocha obviously you didn’t read my other comments and the point I was making. I have used beveling machines, they are great, just not always available. What do you do if your bevel tool breaks down? Go home?
And this folks is the problem with this type of mindset in society. You have to find a middle ground between perfect as you claim b/c you are hourly (I call this milking the clock and working yourself out of a job!) And production so you ensure you make the company money and therefore you have a job in the long run. I bet you sit at home when the work dries up!
I mean I've only started cutting with the oxy acetylene torch but I've already gotten decent enough to bevel. Maybe not professional but I'd say pretty good but I've never tried beveling a pipe. Loved to try.
Very nice good job good luck sir

No está mal para un novato
Métele escuadra haber si quedo escuadrado el corte 🤔
No lo sé rik me parece que le quedó descuadrado el corte 🤔aparte de todo mordido se nota que le falta mucho para aprender a vicelar
Cool. But I get paid by the hour. I like everything to be exact.
