The process is shown from the beginning - starting with the creation of a pattern on the fabric as a guide for the craftsman. Then, with a special tufting gun, thick threads are hammered into the backing of the rug, so that a fluffy pattern appears on the other side of the backing. Once the tufting is complete, a layer of latex glue is applied to the back of the tufted product to hold the tufts in place. The piece should remain stretched over the frame until the glue is completely dry to avoid loss of shape and possible mold growth. A secondary backing layer is then applied to provide additional dimensional stability and protection for the finished product. The master then shears the carpet and trims the edges for a better look.
