Great video, Howard very informative. Well done. See you soon on the water.
Bought a new shortie from portaguide marine for £1250 in i think about 1992 or 3 Think there us a super shelti at bridlington area as have seen it a few times on the water
Great video Howard. Very informative as always.
nice vid always good to pick up a few tips . new sub look forward to learning in the future :-)
There are only two types of lugworms in the UK, Blow Lugworms & Arenicola defodiens
@richardevans9061 the second being more commonly known as black lug I take it ?
Yellow tails are just lug and just as good as blacks the fish eat them lol why throw em back plus if you leave them overnight in a polybox with ice pack ,in morning they will be black i pump thousands of worms
Hi nice video and boat can I ask is owning a boat that size require a lot of maintenance
@kf-dk5pb thanks for your comment. With regards maintenance, Not really but does depend on the boat you buy. I must say though that working on the boat is half the fun , I love doing constant upgrades
Great video when i was younger and did lots of sea fishing on rocks and beaches, i used to just dig for my Lugworm and it took forever to get at least a dozen, then if Marine Lake in West Kirby had been drained we used to jump in there in your wellies and get loads of Ragworm, but not the small ones the big King Ragworm with the bigger nippers. Now with this pumping lark i would have made a fortune if i thought of it years ago. TC. Barry (Wirral)
It is alot easier with the pump, I used to dig for rag years ago in Holyhead
Why do u sweaze them
@matthewtaylor4446 it guts them and it why they go hard... if you don't they go soggy when wrapped in paper
Great to watch, description of that worm was a swimmer, in fact it was a yellow tail which is a juvenile BLACK LUG your know if you stick them live in shallow seawater they both curl up, obviously a blow lug just lie straight in seawater, I have the same problem on my beach that they are so mixed, literally not worth pumping, we rarely have the black lug like at BLACKPOOL, keep the good work up
Thanks for your feedback it is much appreciated
There’s always one 😂
Not been proved they are juvenile blacks
@@petefishrigsandtips can I just comment that all black lug don’t come from Blackpool 🤣
Yellows tails are great bait
Great video
thanks
Hi mate is this Blackpool beach as I am new to bait pumping and only seen to get blow lug in morecombe could do with some blacks for freezers lol like the video by the way
@jason260391 I am actually on Cleveleys beech in front of what was the movern rest home... but by blackpool glitter ball is good or anywhere infront of the Norbreck castle
@@thehogfather2thanks mate
What size and length is the pump?
@insta2212 hi Pal thanks for watching it's 34inch long x 28mm
Mint video m8 😃
@@jon-yb9fr cheers pal
The direct times sees you thru hard times 😂 I’ve got a few in my shed like haha
My windows were an absolute pain so must have been replaced at some point- I had some butyl tape around mine, they certainly didn't come off that easily 😂
@carlsambrook7276 yeh they do usually take a bit more force than that.
We would of cut them out for you , however good job 👍
Could I suggest you keep your nuts in a bag so you don’t lose them, I’d hate to lose mine 👍
@joekerr6685 you are correct but the old ones are too short so new ones are on order
@@thehogfather2 Ahh sounds like your nuts aren’t the problem it’s the bolts, maybe give the old nuts 🥜 a good scrub and keep them safe for future use 👍
Nice one earned a new sub good pumping
Nice Boat Pal
Just heard me on radio at the end 😂,nice fish
Want one.
@wgn3784 I have not used this since I got it, make me an offer if you want it
Nice one Howard, like the canopy, I need one for my Samurai.
@geoffsmith584 Hi Geoff, I have a new canopy that I got off seahog but it's different to mine, it fits to the cuddy not the screen. It also has no poles, any good for you ?
@@thehogfather2 I'll dm you Howard Thanks
Love this. Incredible how the advent of pumps has made this so much easier. I grew up collecting bait on the River Dee estuary flats and also long Moreton flats. We had to dig and dig hard and fast. Now it's become an art form. But I'm really curious about your comments about fresh lug not being as good for Flatties. This is a concept I'm exploring here in Australia, challenging conventional thinking. Nice video and look forward to seeing more.
Black lugworm that is a week old and much older is far better for dab fishing than fresh and that is an absolute fact.
@@markpearcey-ph5nh But why is that? Do you think it is scent? We use berley down here (groundbait) as fish attractors and there are some weird and wonderful ingredients which go against logic, often in frozen berley logs or berley bombs. But they are all very, very smelly.
Whats the ticket
Interesting watch thanks for sharing your knowledge
Any content is welcome but your family comes first 👍
My Hunter has none of these plates, just a very faded plastic "badge" on the splash well area!
@markfletcher3728 it would be a bit of a guess then but if you send me photos of your boat I can give you a ball park date good enough for insurance purposes
@@thehogfather2 Got an email address? Will take a few pics over the weekend! Any help greatfully accepted!
Hiya, my model is a super and serial number simply reads ‘1499’ has no other plate and the the max hp is 60. Can you even guess with this little to work with? Andrew
Does it not have any letters
Hi Howard, I’m really struggling to find some specs on the Superhog. Looks like you would be able to see them on that archived website if you have access to? Andrew
Hi It's just a fully upholstered Hunter really marketed as a sport version of the famous seahog Hunter ..
Thanks, I’m also unable to get an indication on the year of mine as I can only locate 1 main plate which has no letters in the serial number and just 4 numbers (reference to your other video so I will comment on that rather than this video)
Hi, Really good video to say the least Pal, which has helped age my Sea Hog Trooper. This boat has been mine for about 19 years and its a 1998 Hog which has never let me down. Was hoping you could please help by telling me if possible, what type of tilt tube steering arm i need and also steering cable, as attemted to upgrade the old steering which entered the engin bay with a kind of straight rod and some kind of ball joint attached to a white plate, which went pair shape, and the steering cable going through the tilt tube was hitting the side of the engin bay and preventing me from turning the engin to port full lock. Also can not find the serial number on the Evinrude Jhonston 60hp outboard that is fitted to it so a bit lost at the moment. Any help would be much appreciated Pal. All the best Peter.
If I remember correctly it's a 13ft teleflex steering cable plus a splashwell mounting kit something like this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204419490116?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=EJ60EJ9aToG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=xO-CVNLxT3O&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Hope that helps
Really glad you enjoyed the video
Morning, Your spot on with the steering mount Pal, but thats what i have removed to try and upgrade by passing the cable through the outboard tilt tube and then using a tilt tube steering arm to connect up the other side of the cable with the hole in it when it exits the tilt tube on the outboard to inprove the steering.
@Pete.108 There is not alot of room in the splashwell and the angle makes it difficult to use the engine bracket ... that's why Arnie used the splashwell mount
@@thehogfather2 Its cool Pal as i have came up with a master plan to sort this issue. But thank you for taking the time to help me out which is much appreciated. Cheers Pete.
Pleased you mentioned the Tardis not a lot of people know about it. I remember Joe and Stuart taking the Tardis out at Stannah.
He certainly did after a cracking job building it. That boat is now up in Scotland
@@thehogfather2 I’ll have some boating/fishing bits coming up for sale when I get round to clearing out my man cave, I’ll give the lads at the club first shout before I advertise elsewhere 👍 hope you’re keeping well.
She's looking good buddy
Great video again Howard.
Electrics look lots better, I also like keeping the VHF up in the roof out of the way. All looking tidy and ready for the new season.
Nice to see another small fishing boat channel, looking forward to following your progress on this boat.
You’ve well and truly mangled my head. The only solution I can offer is find yourself a good medium and ask him/her to have a chat with Arnie on your behalf. Hope you are well Mr B 👍
Needs a good clean h
Good luck with the work Howard. I love doing jobs around the boat it is very therapeutic.
Cheers Trevor
Hi, mine is a PBC plate, plus I do know roughly the age of it by the build type, the last four digits are F108 ?? Is there a way I could contact you ??
Hi Steve, Whats your boat and do you have a photo?
Seajeep, I’m not on Facebook but on instagram. Found you on there, shall I send the pics there. Thanks.
@stevef6837 well it looks like June 2001 if its a mk1 or June 2011 if it's a mk2
@@stevef6837 yeh send them on insta
Hi Steve, My hog is F1 966 Its cool as i have came up with a master plan to sort the wee problem with the steering arm. Thanks anyway pal.
Most ugliest and uncomfortable boat lve been on .
Superb Howard , keep em coming .
Intesting knowing what hull is used what boat. Ive aways fancied making a different top pattern to go on a hunter/shortie hull.
Hi and thanks, I just watched a couple of your channels videos - v good.. With regards a new boat, I always fancied splitting the Pilot 520 hull and making a 17.5ft cat. Garry Bull, possibly the best boat builder in the UK and who used to build Wilson Flyers did it with the Wilson 24 - check out the Garfish build
@@thehogfather2 👍 just had a look and what a good simple idea.
Great little watch! Thanks for that. Own a samurai myself bought in September, pretty certain you bought your samurai just before I was about to start talking to the eBay seller (in a barn near Preston?) Can't fault my samurai, hardly any slam, plenty of room and stable
Yes mine was from near Preston... Sorry Good boat in general and goes in tomorrow for the engine works
@@thehogfather2 no need for the sorry. Great to see its been saved
