Wow looks at it then now look at the state of it
Very interesting.
Less of a shit hole back then😢
Even the car park has gone and it is now Jubilee Square.
it is now a shite hole, unsafe in the city , esp granby st, awful, the racial dynamic then and now in this footage, unrecognisable,
Ravel favourite shoe shop look like 45 years ago
Great vids
Born in Leicester miss it
Is Malcolm still about, everytime I look up something about Leicester he appears. Great guy.
Gallowtree gate was not gutted until the early 70's, not the 60's. I worked there until 1970 at Marshal & Snelgrove.
Is there tour's ov Leicester like this plz I'm from Whitwick
can tell it's 1998, there are still some white people walking around. A most interesting video of historic leicester, need to make more of them whilst these old buildings remain, as the council will soon demolish them as they don't care about history......unless of course it's asian history they choose to invent
lived in leicester from 1963 to 1995, loved churchgate with crystals and braniggans and the REALLY cool pub in between as well as the fish and quart
Thank you - really interesting
Approaching Leicester on the Welford Road, there is, what looks like an old railway Bridge abutment, behind The Ford garage opposite Almond road. Am I to believe Almond Road once led to a bridge to the cemetery?
It's looks far better then than now
Sorry meant you've not got the accent it's not a bad city was far better in the 1980s im nearly 48 early memory's are late 1970s with midland red buses
You are very well spoken not really got the leicester still you are interesting guy and this is really well informed
Looked a great place when the video was made, Today its a muck hole, all but most of the locals are well gone, Just full of folk from over seas.
I was thinking there's definitely a completely demographic walking around in the background
Completely different*
That's a polite way of saying it😅😅😅
RUBBISH video
To think the coffee house is now a Tim Hortons is cool
Unbelievable the way they just disrespectful regarded the past history old buildings so so so Sad clueless dumb leadership in power again the Mayor's of Leicester thought solely of themselves, the British government is very much to blame should have had laws in place to stop old building being torn down of such age . have architects that could plan around such old buildings. that way I feel England could be so much of a pround place to offer the rest of the world and the people within British a more self identity of history to be proud of . What a shame you'll killing the past .
It's nice to know I'm not the only one who gets Cank and Silver Streets mixed up :D
Interesting. I only wish the guy who is accompanying the historian would stop interupting him and saying yes constantly. I love this cemetery it is a excellent source for an amature local historian .
Leicester born and bred. This video has taught me a lot about the history of the city. I miss the Silver Arcade. I used to go there every Saturday as a kid to buy comic books.
Leicester is a changed place i remember when everything was nice now the high street shops are closing and all the good businesses are gone
I did some work for cable 7 Jenny was the best
There’s also the Highcross monument at the end of Bumblebee Lane, south of Sharnford. It marks the junction of the two major Roman roads, Watling St. and The Fosseway.
I lived in Leicester 1973 to 1988 (excluding a gap for university). I had almost forgotten this place.
Wish I could move lol I've live in a nice village five miles away
From the city centre
Was that paul wadsworth on the right
Warren Dickens :D
@@PaulWadsworth1970 well i also recall Paul Wadsworth. How are you. Helped me out back in the day. Thanks for that. Mark Lint here. Doubt if you will remember me. A firefighter who did a few things with Cable 7. I wonder if anything i was involved in will ever appear on you tub. Not so far : (
