UPPER FUY
A dream come true! After not getting to paddle the Upper the weekend prior due to high water, it was so great to come back to kayak this iconic Chilean river!
Big water, fun drops, and world class scenery - I could not recommend this river enough. I will be back!

BLANCO SUR - Waterfall Progression
มุมมอง 89714 วันที่ผ่านมา
Blanco Sur is a stunning 10-meter waterfall in Chile, known for its approachable lip and forgiving pool at the bottom-an ideal playground for learning and dialing in your technique on bigger drops. In this video, I share my progression as I work on building confidence and refining my technique. I still have so much to improve on, but it's a good start. I hope to do more freefalling in the futur...

Whitewater kayaking the Siete Tazas section of the Rio Claro in Chile!!!! The Rio Claro has been on my bucket list for as long as I remember and it was a dream come true to get my first strokes in Chile on such a unique river. My goal this year was to spend more time in my creek boat practicing running rivers and waterfalls so that I was confident paddling rivers like this once I arrived in Chi...

That looks so freaking sweet
It’s so so so good! Everyone should add the Fuy to their bucket list!
I really wish more kayak youtubers would show more of their mess ups. Please don't take it the wrong way but i wish you would show the mess ups as well to show newer people like me that even pros arent perfect. The way this video is made makes it seem like you didn't make a single mistake. If it was a dry hair run awesome but if it was i wish you would have mentioned it because at any skill level that should still be an accomplishment
Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your thoughts! I totally get where you’re coming from-seeing the full experience, including the mess-ups, can be so helpful and relatable, especially for newer paddlers. My goal with this channel is to share the whole journey, which varies from river to river. That includes personal and emotional moments, in-between rapids, and, of course, the hardest lines. I rarely cut out flips or mistakes because I want my videos to reflect the full river experience so others know what to expect if they decide to run it. For this video specifically, there wasn’t a big emotional journey or much to narrate beyond how awesome this section is, so it’s mostly kayaking clips. My biggest “mess-up” was getting scared at La Leona and opting for the chicken eddy-but otherwise, I kept everything in (minus some flatwater at the bottom). If you’re interested, check out my Blanco Sur video! It really captures my journey of learning to run bigger waterfalls, complete with some ‘mess-ups’ along the way. I think you’ll enjoy it!
Wow!! Lookin good #creekermiss!
Thanks!🤪
Upper Fuy is a Class lll ?
I’d say it’s class 4/5. This was medium high flows (from my understanding) but I think at lower flows it gets easier.
📽️👍👍👍👍📽️👍👍📽️💪💯
That was insane
It was so much fun!
Super greasy!
👏👏👏👏👏👏 top show
I've paddled many beautiful rivers, but this section of the Maichin (which I have never paddled) would be close to the top of my list to try, given its fantastic beauty plus lots of Class IV rapids. This is the sort of river where I love to eddy out and camp overnight, wilderness-style. How cold was the water during this run? What sort of fish may be found there? Looks like a great trout river.
yeah to what she said! :D
The Maichin is a favorite canyon near to the Argentina border flowing from the glaciers of Volcan Sollipulli. A great addition to the day is to got to LJ's Cerveceria Puesco for craft beers right on the river. This is also the headwaters of the Rio Trancura. Thanks for sharing and the shout out. Keep Kayaking.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Beautiful waterfall
I’m sure it was the best decision 🎉
👏👏👏📽️💯💯 big Jump 💯💯📽️

Love this edit. Pooch is always the star.
Nice! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Salida is the BEST!!
❤❤❤❤
Such a beautiful river ❤
When they were handing out beautiful places to kayak, Chile definitely grabbed more than their share. Thanks for taking us along, virtually.
👏👏👏👏📽️ Show
Great roll on the second or third run!
Thanks!
so rad!!!
Thank you!!
Fantastic ethos and congratulations on successfully running the drop.
Thank you so much, it means a lot!
Great video Abby!
Thanks Harry, hope we can all come back next year :)
I don't really get the idea that not flipping is the only way. I always learned growing up doing adrenaline sports that if you weren't falling (or flipping) you weren't progressing or doing harder and harder things... I think it's way more normal for most people to beater a bit as you're getting more comfortable and understanding new lines and new challenges. Love this video!
Agreed! It was more that I was fortunate to grow up paddling with the pros but they don't really ever accidentally flip (unless they were trying something playful or hard that I usually had no interest in trying) and especially not on the class 3s I'd run as a kid, so it wasn't something I was used to. My young mind associated it with danger, which is obviously very irrational and not true. But there is definitely a big culture in the US that associates it with failure, which is really unfortunate because like you said, it's part of the learning process and so important! I'm glad I got past that and have been able to improve :)
love the story of progression! crushed it.
Thank you!! Hope you are doing well!
Im surprised the phone still worked. That's an ad for Apple
Me too! I've never trusted Apple's waterproofness and always kept my phone in a dry bag. Still plan to keep my phone in a dry bag, but at least we know when something like this happens it will be okay (so long as you can find the phone)
11:30 best way to dry the hair! Love it 🤙
Haha truly! Until you get a branch in the face...
I love your thoughts at the end about enjoying where you are with no pressure to step up the game. Great perspective. ❤
Thanks <3
Muito bom 👏👏👏📽️💯💯 Jump
🙌
Great video! But wait, You mean you don't just easily do all this stuff? What about Freestyle? Do you have to fail there, too? Is this where you got this idea of failing to win? In a future video, could you talk about the process of progression and how failing is a part of that?
haha thanks!
Such a fun river. Highly recommend Pucon Kayak Retreat
Agreed, they are the best!
😮😱🙌👏
👏👏👏👏📽️👏👏👏👏📽️💯 big Jump
Show Jump landing 👏👏👏👏📽️👍💯
🙌
Pooch!
The best boy!!!
I just watched Dane’s run on the same river. It’s nice to see the full run instead of just the drops.
Thanks! There are so many videos that just show the big stuff, I always try to show the full run - even if that makes the video a bit boring at times!
👏👏👏👏📽️👏📽️💯 show
The end 😂
Haha!! What he gets for always stealing my footage😆
👏👏👏👏📽️👏👏👏👌👌📽️💯💯💯
Such an awesome (and beautiful!!) adventure!
It was a dream come true!
👏👏👏📽️👏👏👏 show
📽️👏📽️👏📽️👏📽️💯💯💯💯👌
Who gave ylu the right to kayak in pink jackson kayak haha... just joking. Nice and beautiful paddleing
Thanks!
I now have the image of a fox pouncing on a mouse in snow.
We all do... haha! Debated putting a clip of that in the video but decided against it since he did recover the phone😆
Great video! So, did you have your phone in an Otterbox case or something or do you just keep it in your PFD? Did it survive?
It is in an Otterbox case, but not a waterproof one! I have one of the Stasher reusable ziplock bags that I use to keep it in my lifejacket (I've never trusted how waterproof it was until now). My new phone is a little bit bigger than my old one, and therefor a little bit tight in the bag...which is why my dad accidentally launched it into the river🫣 Phone is completely fine but plan to buy a waterproof phone case with a tether once I get back to the states....also made sure to get Apple care after this haha!
Peter to the rescue 😎
Super dad (minus being the one to drop it)
