Litter-picking mishmash 2 - green spaces
มุมมอง 2.3K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Some of the stuff I film ends up on the cutting-room floor. It's often places you've seen me clean up a bunch of times already or footage that isn't enough to force into a standalone episode. So, occasionally I clump together footage and make a mishmash of cleanups. This time it's about green spaces. I hope you enjoy it. Tall Grass Story
มุมมอง 2.5K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Is litter picking possible when the grass is tall? I've heard all sorts of opinions: it's either too hard, too time-consuming, not feasible for whatever reason, not financially viable, a logistically complex procedure, flat-out impossible, not worth it etc. So let's check. I went out litter-picking in the tall grass, trying to salvage whatever I could from the impending mowing, which seems to a...

Aaaaand it's gone!
มุมมอง 2.1K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Over the years, I've cleaned up dozens of bags of litter from bus stops. Unfortunately, many bins have been taken away for several reasons, the most common being that they sometimes attract fly-tipped bags of rubbish. Of course, opinions are mixed on whether it's a good or a bad approach, but from my personal experience one thing is certain: bus stops without a bin always suffer from being litt...
A trip down childhood lane

After almost 20 years since my last visit, I went for an unplanned stroll in a place I often used to go as a child: Venetia Lake and Ciric Woods in Iasi, NE Romania. It wasn't quite the same as I remembered it, but 10 bags of collected rubbish later, it's looking closer to how I remember it. I had to spend another couple of hours waiting outside Northwick Park Hospital, so I took the opportunity to clean up the green space next to it and the path leading to the Accident & Emergency department. Watch your bare hands my friend . .
is it particularly expensive or difficult to access landfills/transfer stations? Or are people just lazy?
It's kind of you to not confront Linda about her littering.
Thank you❤❤
1:05 Cute foxy :) 8:33 lovely sound of the church bells :)
It's nice when folks tell you that they appreciate what you are doing.
Great job buddy . Btw did you keep that hindu statue & paper waits or gift them to a charity/ thrift store after soaking em in bleach ?
Nah, they were not in good condition.
I know its been 3 almost 4 years since you posted this vid. But has ASDA gotten a new general manager who at last gives a shit " pardon my french" and im hopeful Wembley is looking better
In the end, ASDA's manager wasn't the problem (though it did take me to highlight the glaring issues in front of them). I had a few discussions with him and he explained the challenges they were facing. He agreed to establish daily litter-picking around the store premises, and at least for a couple of years (I last checked more than a year ago) it made a visible difference. He also agreed for 8 of the employees to litter-pick with me in the public park and further collaboration probably would've happened, had I not moved to another borough... Sorry to disappoint, Wembley was looking worse when I checked last year: th-cam.com/video/mxMqnEk13kA/w-d-xo.html
@KeepItCleanLondon thanks for the feedback man I'm glad he agreed to litter pick
The pit of despair
Well done
That is a monumental task to clean up. I can understand getting discouraged. My experience so far in my community has been manageable -- definitely not as bad as what I see in this video. I get satisfaction in seeing the improvement when I clean an area of my community. I realize the results are temporary, but for a time it does look nice.
Great information! I use a 48" (1.25m) grabber that is fairly sturdy. It helps me to reach into ditches so I can avoid the mud and mess. Works great! I use an e-trike to pull two plastic 32 gallon trash cans on a bicycle trailer. Each trash can is lined with 42 gallon 3 mil contractor bags. They stretch nicely over the can and stay in place. One can holds plastic bottles and aluminum cans which can be recycled. The other holds anything else which is picked up weekly with other home garbage.
Um, small question from someone who is not a native English speaker: What did the gentleman mean when he said "Baba" / "baba"?
It's not a native English word, from what I could gather, it's slang for "boss" or "pops". It's from Turkish.
you shouldn't use plastic bags you should use paper because plastic bags are bad for the environment
@@Bubb1y_st4rs that's not possible. Paper is not strong enough and the slightest amount of water destroys it.
You should report that woman to the council and get her fined.
The woman at 0:46 probably thought you worked for the council and was complaining to you.
Keep cleaning
Thank you 👏🏼

Wow 😳 Thank you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 You're incredible!

Some days one can't see two city blocks in "China", with all of their pollution. Of course they are exempt until Hell freezes over, right CCP supporting Dem Party !! Many countries are "huge polluters". Western nations are the cleanest countries in the world. Of course it's not about the environment, but about these communists trying to destroy Western economies with their environmental BS regulations & taxes
...wanna see "real pollution" ? Go to Brazil !
I'm sure there are many places much more polluted than this, but that doesn't make it any less "real".
This "little bit of pollution" is NOTHING compared to many Indonesian, South American and African countries. Some days one can't see two city blocks in "China", with all of their pollution. I won't comment on politics, all I know is dozens of tonnes of waste were pulled from this river bank and that's a lot of rubbish, irrespective of how much more polluted other places are.
@@KeepItCleanLondon ...STILL a drop in the bucket compared to 3rd world nations.
Bravo thank you for everything or I'm watching you from France
Thanks for watching!
What is it about London suburbs that make them so filthy? It's not that other parts of the UK don't get littered as I know from own experience as a litter picker in Worcestershire, but the sheer amount of litter on yours, Gerard's and Chilli's videos is mind-numbing! But it's comforting to know that I'm not the only one that gets the council runaround when complaining about fly-tipping. Nobody takes responsibility for anything, all I get is the equivalent of "it's not my job, mate!" followed by a link to some other government talking head, who in turn also doesn't take responsibility! Great video George!
Thank you. It's a looong answer, unfortunately. Whatever anyone thinks might be the cause behind the (genuinely shocking) littering, it's probably part of the answer. I would describe it as a perfect storm of problems that make each other worse. Maybe I'll do a video about it one day, as I know many people who are not from London are watching in literal disbelief.
Amazing work 🎉
I would of looked at that and been like where do I begin but you looked at it and broke down each section into smaller jobs.
That's the only way! :)
It is good that you care. Who do you call to take it away?
I report it to our local Council, though in this instance it might've been taken away by contractors hired by the private association.
That was a lot😰 great work for cleaning aaaaaaaaaall of what up😎🥰
Great job👍 such a cute fox🤗🦊
Great job❤ what a nice guy🙂
We need longer videos love watching them
That is a lot !!!! Do they always pick it up when you report it ?
@@zerowastehomestead2518 Depends. Only if it's on public land. In this instance, I'm not sure who collected the rubbish, it might've been the Council, it might've been contractors paid by the private association.
Your country is so pretty and tidy❤❤
Trust me, it has its (big) problems, but yes, cities in general are reasonably clean.
@KeepItCleanLondon I mean it is way better than London
Great ...fella good job me do similar near me Will be doing over Christmas period..thanks Bishops stortford Herts
@@EricOconnell-j5r That's fantastic!
People are so lazy, they could have easily taken that to the local. tip
All i can say is WOW ! 👌👏
And all I can say is thank you!
put everything next to the garbage bin otherwise it will get dragged back to its original place where it came from.
How could I have put 50 bags of rubbish, a mattress, a bedframe and a couple of shelves next to a bin? Just dragging all that a couple hundred metres would have taken another 2 hours.
What an effort well done buddy. Have a great Christmas 🎄
Thank you, you too!
everyday i see you, i have more hope in humanity and nature
Thank you, really appreciated!
Yes, a real horror movie ! You deserve our appreciation for going above and beyond what we should expect of any of our citizens. Fly tippers should be made to clear their mess or go to jail. If only it were that simple but they'd have to be traced first - our councils are overstretched and our police don't see it as a high priority given all the other crap they have to face...Nobody cares anymore save a few brave souls. Sincere thanks for all you do and Merry Xmas to you from Wales 🏴
Thank you, Merry Xmas to you too!
Take photos and send them to the council using the website. It's their job and they will go through it to find out details of the flytipper. You moving it stops this from happening and allows the criminals to do it again.
Council were informed twice, but declined to intervene due to this piece of land being managed by a private association. This had been left like this for 3 weeks when I decided to clean up. On the next day a fellow volunteer went through every single bag and found an address. We also got CCTV from a neighbour. Council were informed and hopefully can prosecute. Trust me, we're not working against our Council when it comes to this.
@KeepItCleanLondon that's good to hear.
Good Samaritan thank you. Be safe in the litter pickups.😊
Thank you!
I hate people who fly tip like this. They want locking up for years as punishment.
Thank you very much for cleaning up that very bad fly tip and all your hard work .And once again you have saved the council a large sum of money for cleaning that mess up.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for all you do.
Thank you for clearing that area. A big task. Good that you are able to report the break-in. In my opinion fly tippers are trash too.
@@sarahbrewer8945 Thank you. Indeed, I don't think highly of fly-tippers myself. :)
So sad to see but satisfying viewing. Lucky you came along because it was so close to a river. Top work, top fella 💪
