Why We Were Forced To Change Some Of Our House Design
Hello are you back again in the philippines? We are back since November here in the philippines. I'm still struggling to adjust here. We stay in my daughter's house for now.❤
She wants you to take them so you can keep doing what you're doing until you stay sick and die. Carnivore works
Hi Randall, Dave here with greetings from Idaho!! This looks like a really nice place to stay. Thanks for another great video, I’ve been watching you for quite a while and this is my first comment.your place on the island is coming along nicely. Best wishes to you and your family, keep up the great work buddy!
Nice to meet you Dave. Thanks so very for the comment.
Good Job. Carnivore is amazing. Isn't good fish readily available in PH? I live in Hawaii now and eat mostly beef and fish.
Pampano and Tilapia are my favorites. Yes it’s available here.
What a dream
I lay in my hammock yesterday and it was heaven. Thanks for the comment.😀
@ I live in Mindanao and I am about to buy 4 hectares. I can't wait mate! I have been watching your videos
@An-ton-86 Woh! Malaki land doon diba?thats a big land!! Congratulations
My first comment enjoy your videos 😊
Thanks Anthony. I appreciate it!
Great progress 👍🏻
Thanks! I can’t believe after all these years my dream is coming true. Thanks for the comment.
There’s a lot of pride going into the build of your house, your crew is working hard, that’s because you treat them well and they respect you. When I was a kid growing up back in good old Newfoundland I used to watch my uncles build their homes, and I could always tell, that they enjoyed the process of building, lots of thought and enthusiasm involved. Eventually you’ll have a beautiful retreat, well constructed and proud of it. Take care
Thanks Ron. My wife’s former employer was from Newfoundland. I try to treat the crew well, it’s not really hard because they don’t expect too much. It seems like they have a good work ethic. I really try to treat them well. Thanks for the comment
Morning Randall, that backdrop looks great, the sound of the wind in the trees is so calming. You have lots of shaded areas to escape from the sun. I went to a cockfight once with the brother in-law and it’s definitely not for me. Did you make any changes to your medical insurance you mentioned a while back? Great video, nothing wrong with the content. Take care.
Thanks for your comments. It’s really been nice at the property. Temps are pretty good and breezes are almost constant. I’ve actually been almost chilly a few times. I’m going to re-up with full major medical for at least one more year. When are you going to make it over here? Maybe we can go to a Cockfight! 🤣🤣🤣 just kidding.
😢*if you are not believed that in the philippines fairy, its up to you*😮😅😂
I’ve never heard of the Philippines fairy but who knows I might soon. Thanks for the comment.
The build is looking good! Lots of progress... What a nice getaway from the city! Once finished, my guess is you'll spend more time there than in the city house... BTW... My grandmother lived in Springfield, MO... As a kid, the family used to make trips in the summer to visit... The first swimming pool I experienced was down there... In Minnesota, we grew up on Rainy Lake, northern border with Canada... Extreme cold to extreme heat! Loved it... For my two cents, neither (nor Germany or Dubai, my overseas footholds outside the USA) matches the lifestyle possible in The Philippines... I'm committed, lol! TC 👍😎👍
@@smartbiz888 What a nice comment. Well written and organized. We will spend more time there. Iloilo is a city of over 1/2 million. Once you cross the water to Guimaras the island vibe permeates everything and puts you in a good mood. Thanks!
What are they spraying for?
@@lauriegarcia7236 It’s like cotton if you know anything about that. Cotton has to be sprayed before it will open up so it can be picked. Mangoes have to be sprayed in the right time of the year before it will produce the flower that produces Mangoes. We should have mangoes in mid May hopefully! Thanks for the question.😀
I thought they used smoke for that. To cause flowering. @@ThePhilippinesProject
That’s the really old fashioned way. It’s not really effective. We’ve tried it but not really any results.
@ThePhilippinesProject interesting!! Thank you!
They spray also for bugs eating mangoes with chemicals smelling 😊
Good job Randall
Thanks Rick. I really like the background in the video.
Wow many superstitions I never knew about! Rea (my partner forever it seems) throws coins in the rooms/house we moved into 5 years ago.... When I asked, she says is for good luck/fortune... Also she is very sensitive to bad spirits (for me the bad spirits are wine that has gone bad!)... Interesting stuff... : )
Glad you liked the video. There are so many superstitious here. We live in the province so a lot more here.
I enjoy your content! Dave is my name, retired military dude forever it seems like, and moving to The Phillipines is my latest game, lol (have been there numerous times, getting the details in place now)... You are connecting, do not worry... Just be you, that is enough! Cheers from Dubai! : )
Thanks Big guy!!
Do you live in Guimares or Iloilo ? Or have property in both places?
We built a house in Pavia Iloilo in 2018 and reside there most of the time. We started a house in Guimaras in August of this year.
I hope that leaves has no chemicals on it. The practice there is spraying the leaves with chemicals to accelerate flowering
No, they haven’t been sprayed in over 20 years. Thanks for the concern.😄
You go back to Rat race?
What town is this, I never see tricycles like that
These tricycles are in San Miguel in Guimaras. They are almost all that way here.
I watch all your videos but most times I get lazy to move from the TV to go to the computer to comment. All your vids are good.
Exactly. I do the same thing. I watch on the TV then I don’t want to go to my phone and comment! 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for all your support.
Thanks for sharing! Very useful information. Just a heads-up, if you want full coverage, under Medicare, it isn't free. Medicare Part B has a premium, which will be automatically deducted from your Social Security benefit (if you have started taking benefits, ofc - if not, then you have to pay the Part B premium out-of-pocket). There are also "gaps" in the Medicare coverage, incl. co-pays. These gaps can result in huge out-of-pocket costs, in the event of a major medical incident. In order to cover the gaps, you will need a Medicare Supplement Plan, or "Medigap" (as it is commonly known) plan. This plan is obtained through a regular insurance company and you pay a premium based upon where you live in the US, your age, etc. Note that the Medigap plans, which are identified by a letter (such as Medigap Plan G), are identical, across all insurance companies - the only diffference is the premium. Once you sign up for a Medigap plan, you can keep that plan for life, even if you move out of the US, as long as you continue to pay the premiums. (Ofc, Medicare and Medigap won't work overseas, but they will remain valid whenever you are in the US, or in US territories, such as Guam). You will also need a Part D plan to cover prescription drugs. So, there are 3 parts of Medicare for which you should budget a monthly cost: Part B premium, Medigap premium, and Part D premium. You will also need to consider paying a premium for a separate vision & dental plan, since these are not covered by Medicare. There is also Part C, also knwn as Medicare Advantage. It is a replacement plan for what is called "Original Medicare" (ie. Medicare A & B + Medigap). Advantage plans can actually have a zero premium, but, there are a ton of restrictions and small print, incl. the need for pre-authorizations by the insurance company, in-network only, cancelled if you move out-of-state (and might get cancelled if you spend too much time outside the US), etc. They can come with "perks" such as a vision/dental plan, drug plan, gym memership, or grocery discounts. However, Original Medicare, Medigap Plan G, a Part D drug plan, and a separate vision/dental plan is the best coverage, as long as you can afford the premiums. An Advantage plan should only be used as a last resort, if you absolutely cannot afford to pay for a Medigap plan. As always, you get what you pay for. With Original Medicare, you can see *any* doctor (who accepts Medicare), in *any* state in the US - this is not true with Medicare Advantage plans. Important note: Make sure you sign up for a Medigap, or a Medicare Advantage plan, during your initial enrollment period, which is the 7-month period, starting 3 months before and ending 3 months after your 65th birth month. During this period, you can sign up for any plan, and cannot be refused coverage, regardless of pre-existing conditions. Disclaimer: I am not an insurance professional, nor an expert on Medicare. This is just my personal research & opinion, and should be valued as such (ie. maybe worth 2 pesos, at best). Do your own research! Feel free to ignore and move on! :)
😂yes I would like to drink a beer with you again....in the Philippines of course....or maybe a juice 🧃😂
Juice would be great! Thanks for commenting.😃

Looks like your trees need pruning,, way to big ,, that is normal here in the Philippines .
look up : Pruning Mango Trees: 101 w/ Dr. Richard Campbell the video 6 years old can not send url or i would ok trying to help!
@@WVDave Yes, there hasn’t been any maintenance in 20 years. We will start Thursday. The guy doing the mango production will do some trimming. Thanks for the comment.
@ I will do that. Thanks!
Laze Fair... hands off approach, especially with regards to economy and business.
Correct! Thanks! I appreciate the comment.
Hello, Monte Boyd here. Come visit me at Baras Beach. Lawi Jordon Guimaras. We have lots of properties and highend homes. Can build according to your budget
Long time ago I crossed J.M. Basa St. on a busy day with jeepneys speeding away like they were on a race. I found myself in between two of them with a least a 2ft gap. I had to stay on the spot for a few secs or i ended up as roadkill.
I understand. So busy at Plaza Libertad. Maraming busses and Jeepneys doon. A-lot coming from parola. You’re experience was scary. 😱
I had to keep my head on a swivel but if you listen for the "toots" from the oncoming traffic I found I at least had a fighting chance of not getting hit. Thanks for sharing.
If you stick out your left arm with hand extended it is like a magical move. Time motion and space sink up and you are one with the universe. No harm will come to you. “My observations of Ilongos crossing the road. 🤣🤣🤣
I mention you in the next video.
@@ThePhilippinesProject cool 😎
Thinking maybe there's nobody on the island who's got Ms Jolie's kinda lips, so yeah. 😅
Her lips are mataba! Diba? Plastic plastic? 🤣🤣🤣
I had no idea that you can use those leaves for tea. I own a mango farm in Guimaras and will have to try this next time i visit
It’s a light tea but it’s good. Thanks!
I forget my Low Carb diet whenever i see Saba banana.
I understand. I was surprised to see it in the BBQ.
Great move and inspiring friend. Done subscribed.
Thanks for the comment!
Great sharing friend.Done subscribed to you channel. Always stay safe.
Nice vlog and video😊❤❤❤❤❤
Yummy😋

Inspect the goats closely if planning to buy; most of them are transgendered and won't be able to breed.
Your wife’s hair is same color as my wife’s. Lol
Yeah, she doesn’t deny reality. I like that. She’s definitely a keeper after 22 years. Thanks Rick for sticking with me.
@ ya. My wife likes the natural look. No colouring. I really like the colour of natural. Very beautiful.
Yes, it’s true. We should live as we are. We grow older gracefully.
are you a wannabe goat roper?
Soap on a rope? Goats are great for clearing land and improve the soil. I’ve got plenty of food for them so I think they would be good companions. Thanks for commenting. 😀
Good video but no thanks. It must rain a lot there they way their tricycle roof and side is made. The quality of life is not in Philippines for sure only good for visiting special areas and finding a partner. 😊
@@josephrobi6806 It’s not for everyone for sure. It suits me fine. Rain 🌧️ hasn’t been a problem for a while. We have plastic covers to keep the rain out. I use a Grab car for most of my travel here. Clean and comfortable. The market will be much improved shortly. Again it’s not for everyone but I like it here. I appreciate your input!!
I know that hardware store in Jordan.... interesting place where you look at everything from behind the counter, don't really get to look at it close up like here in the states. We will be using that place a lot I'm sure with our property build.
Yeah, it’s kind of funny how they don’t put their stuff out so you can see it. They are helpful though and always treat me right. I buy most building materials at Piña Crossing like rebar hollow block etc. We had priced a wheelbarrow down the street for p3200. It was cheap and I asked for a discount to no avail. I said let’s check out South Trade before we leave town. It was the same price but of much more quality. Thanks for commenting. 😀
The chickens may be smaller in the Philippines, but they mack up for it with how tasty they are! Thanks for sharing.
🤣🤣🤣 Everything is smaller here. I bought 3 Chooks to go last night 1 for me and two for my family downstairs. The native chicken does make a great Tinola. Thanks for the comment 😀
I get the same responses...id like to hear english for 10min instead of illongo ...but its ok
I got a lot of comments on this video. I understand what you’re saying but I never thought about it that way. We do crave a little of our common language just to be able to communicate easily. It’s a great point. A lot of the comments seem to be from people who just want to be left alone. I see both sides. I’m much more comfortable now just living my own life here and not really needing to engage with other foreigners. I like the engagement but some of it I can do without. I’m glad you brought that up. Thanks!
Low carb diet?
I try. I’m limiting carbs. Mostly meat and vegetables.
Great way to lose weight and keep the high blood pressure at bay.
Looks like a lot of work and you are in the thick of it, well done! Looking at the shadows, were you at it all day, or did you pick your times? Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you think so. I only work at it when it’s not too hot. I do pick my times of the day. It’s essential here.
Due to my love of mangos I have been wanting to try Guimaras even thou we always come Jan to March and harvest time it’s months away. This may be the year we get there. We want to find a place that we could land and make a home. How do you like it there?
@ what a coincidence. I just secured a seasoned guy to work some of my Mango trees yesterday. They are great here. I think we are going to do 6-8 trees.
@ I love it on the Island. We live in Pavia, Iloilo now.
Cheap food cheap repairs cheap living
It is if you do it right. I really enjoy it here. I’m 63 and I can’t believe how much I love life here.
I'm always broke 😂 ✌️
