Games are best when shared. Let's unwind as we play through all kinds of games 🙂. This is just for fun and the enjoyment of sharing my hobby with others!

I guess finding some decent eyedrops ended up being the final key to success for this run. Fun fact, steam says I've played 116 hours of this game at this point. Scammed out of the run being successfully recorded by the game, but now I know. I figured if I learned to use bombs better, regardless of my practice, I could clear, and that's what happened. Probably will be a future video of this with a proper clear (recognized by the game).

Woah! your jus tearing through this game, very cool. I'm still working on my novice ultra clear
@@jaredwiebe8477 not so much anymore - 1.5 maniac is kicking my butt! And the weather got really dry here so I need to figure out how to stop it from screwing with my eyes. Good luck with novice ultra!
Nice video, fun to hear the thoughts of someone who's new to the genre. Especially someone like you who seems really invested in this game and making great progress! I found funny how you described the difficulty spike on the third stage in this version, comparing it to a wall. Because it's SO true! I felt the same way about it when I first had to learn it down. For all the other stages the up in difficulty isn't that much, stage 4 and 5 do have some specific sections that were made way harder. But stage 3 got a makeup for basically the whole thing and it's consistently harder for the entirety of the stage. It had the best work put into it of all the stages of this version imo, once you route it down it becomes extremely satisfying to play. Also about the slowdown, yup 1.5 has more of it. Especially when you use shot (focused movement), I don't know why that happens especifically when you use shot but it helps a lot in some stage sections to get that extra slowdown by simply using it. I noticed that you wondered about the hitbox size on 1.5. In this version every power type has the same hitbox size unlike on 1.0 which had them going from biggest to smallest like this S>M>W. Overall the hitbox size in 1.5 is bigger than the ones from 1.0 (smaller than S but bigger than M and W of 1.0). About practice I'd say this game has good options for it but not the best. Having the options to start on the midboss or boss(2) is good, but as you said that doesn't work well for stage 3 since it doesn't have a midboss lol. Overall I'd say the practice options for this game are more than enough to learn the game through and through BUT there's no problem on going to save states for practice. You just have to go with what is more enjoyable to you in the end of the day. And since you brought up commentated runs with tips and a more guide-like formart there are a few of this game, but all of them that I found were about original mode only (novice, 1.0 and 1.5). So there IS a big lack of this type of video for the other modes...now I wanna do some videos to fill in that void lol (I doubt I'm gonna do because I'm lazy af but who knows) Anyways, continue on the grind. It's being fun watching you improve in this game!
Thanks! Good to hear it confirmed that shot does cause more slowdown, I wasn't sure if I was just imagining it. After working on this a bit more in practice mode I think I've gotten a bit more effective with how I use it and that's making me less disappointed about the lack of more fine-grained save states. Honestly, having to replay more of a stage isn't the worst thing (it's just more practice), and when there's a hard part I want to focus on more that's tedious to get to in practice mode, I found watching a video with the route I want to take in fullscreen and pretending I'm playing it kinda helps initially (helps minimize those initial attempts where I just die instantly and miss the practice opportunity). Also just visualizing it in my head.
When talking about save states with this game I assume you refer to Mame or Retroarch, since Xenia does not support that?
@@danny.ray101 correct, although I didn't know that at the time, and anyway, AFAIK 1.5 is not available on mame anyway (checking a mame DB I haven't found an entry for it) so it's a moot point, I don't think there is any way to practice 1.5 with save states. even with mame, the slowdown is not properly emulated but it's better than nothing for 1.0 and some settings can be tweaked to approximate the slowdown I guess (I never bothered, it was kind of fun to practice with less slowdown)
@@clasplit I think all those 1.5 versions of CAVE shmups were only released on console. It's really unfortunate you can't practice these and many other shmups in smaller, more efficient sections. For Touhou there is a fan-made tool which splits the stages into up to 8 sections and makes every boss spell available separately - I usually find this to get me somewhere from nowhere much faster.
@@danny.ray101 apparently it was originally released as an arcade pcb (cave matsuri ver 1.5) for a very limited time, may 27th / 28th in 2011. Doesn't exist in the mame DB from what I can tell though (maybe it's too recent?)
Ah what a coincidence, I was just binging these mushi vids earlier lol. Nice work on the 1cc, and awesome clutch on stage 5! I really enjoy how introspective/analytical your commentary is. Interesting note on looking for the spaces instead of the bullets - there's a lot to be said about good "reading windows" and how they affect your comprehension, and it seems like everyone has their own journey to discover what "works." The flavor analogy was kind of mindblowing to me because I've never had a good way to describe a pattern clicking quite in that way. Ultra is the type of mode I personally believe works best when you return to it after getting a lot of other experience since it's such a massive leap from Maniac. The routing is super fun and I think it's a much more fulfilling experience when shmup fundamentals aren't the main roadblock. (I talk to myself too during runs almost like it's a livestream. If it helps it helps ;p)
Thanks for the kind feedback and the suggestion about ultra mode! I like "reading windows" as a way to frame that concept. Like the idea of "how do you look at a given pattern in order to best handle it?". That made me remember, there are some patterns I found where you seemingly need to do a "pattern cross check" in order to be able to track what's going on - rapidly alternating between checking multiple overlapping patterns. The best example of that for me is boss 3's first phase 2 pattern where he shoots the spheres overlapping with the lines. The patterns are so different to me that I can't seem to keep track of them simultaneously. Over time, I found myself rhythmically blinking my eyes rapidly during that pattern which seemed to help me alternate between which patterns I'm checking. Is it a good technique or just a bad habit I picked up? Who knows! I imagine at a certain level of skill that stuff becomes unnecessary or automatic. Maybe looking at the space more in that section would've been a better approach. I just know that ultra mode is going to be sitting there taunting me as I go to play other shmups...I'll have no choice but to return to it at some point.
@@clasplit The "pattern cross-check" is absolutely something you'll start doing unconsciously over time, as your brain starts optimizing how to get the most info with the least effort. It's a mental muscle to exercise; with more exposure to these types of patterns, the more you improve your efficiency and stamina (your reading endurance/consistency is another important component).
I forgot to mention I learned the importance of a well-ventilated room! Too much CO2 / stuffiness can really hurt practice and performance.
I might have missed it, but did you try to adjust the timers of intervals and duration (I think), its on the Switch, Xbox 360 for Futari, and Ill check Steam later. But theres a lot of play there for good or bad. Mark mentioned recomended settings i thinjk, I think now I keep it at 2, 2 or up tp 3,4. But, depending on your temperament, lag and actua frame delay and then how the console digests bumps in the road I feel like the Whole game is millisecond familiarity with I frames, for some of these wild dodging, organic/bio(ESP) shooters. They are so Fluid it. And SDOJ if youre running it right I Bet. Like flying through ice cream, the level is happy to have u there.. when else can Cave live?
You brought it up, the instant response lazer. I THINK if you make it like 0, 4 you'll get a twitching later that is like a solid burst. I liken it to on the weak side of lazering in Donpachi, like when you *barely* tap a bee in SDOJ for example in level 2, you like can like tickle it with your lazer, its possible to get urgical in Mushi, Futari and SDOJ. So tight in gameplay feel it was tuned you, you can do brain surgery on some enemies. You're the Doomslayer in these last few Cave games, but you're in Hell. Not me. People that play for a bit more stakes in the their journey. I'm about to to make white boards for actually attacking some games. My board is all checked off for macro shmup gameplay. Cool channel bro, you're approachable but legit.
interesting, I haven't dug into the intervals and durations - all I did (not sure if I did it for this one but for later modes) was choose a setting that was supposedly optimal for supershot and I never use the rapid fire autofire (only the normal autofire) I frames is another interesting point. Obviously at this level of play it doesn't matter too much, but I can definitely see situations on the harder difficulties where being able to get a quick kill can make some sections way easier. I assume it requires a more aggressive playstyle.
Nice
thanks!
Interesting to hear another musician‘s perspective. Since there are no save states in this game for small chunks (like in many other games) I practiced a lot with a slow hack in order to make the game more managable. I am curious to see how far you make it, especially at this insane speed.
Didn't realize that was possible, that's a good one!
Leverless is good. It's what I used when I used to play Kaizo Mario romhhacks.
Good stuff
Glad you could beat this difficulty again, I also like what you said about driving the limit
why ur digimon world 3 still can play after end the game? i am not
I'm playing the PAL version. It has more content including post-game content.
Hi.
NOTE: Normally I edit these into segments but since I eventually gave up on Hades, these last few videos of the playlist are just the raw stream archives since I don't care to put any more effort or thought into anything related to this game.

Jupiter Hell and DRL are some of the most amazing true roguelikes. Never gets old infinite content and continued updates and Workshop! The splatter of gibbing? Mwah
People still play Jupiter Hell? Wow thats awesome!
I know...I missed the text that explains what weapons onslaught is limited to (only realized after recording).
Amazing game, great video and voice editing. Keep doing what you do. Glad to have found this series
thanks for the encouragement! I do plan to keep playing, but it will likely be mixed in with other stuff.
7.62 handguns could be like a 7.62x25, like a tokarev, something like that.
ah, and it turns out that gun is indeed in H3VR, my main source of gun knowledge!
It always ends in tears. As far as last game - there was an explicit target marker on the square that there will be a spike appearing and you walked into it - the target markers are never on where you stay, but a tile somewhere on the side (even if out of vision), but are carefully telegraphed.
I got irracionally offended at that language select screen spanish latam with a spain flag eww
Nobody gives a fuck about spanish speakers lol
Your offence is totally justified. It's a perfect example of why using flags to represent languages is generally frowned upon. That screen should've just been a list of text items. Now it has me wondering if they decided on the number of languages to support purely so that screen could have a nice square shape lol. "Can't have a prime number of languages, then we wouldn't be able to make a uniform grid on the one screen you see for like 2 seconds!"
I love you
Remember me form the live :)
Yep!
Hello
👋
Gonna binge this now let’s goooo
Agreed the 2D sprites looks so much nicer than the 3D models, but then again, even with today's super high detailed realistic 3D models, I still prefer the clean 2D sprites.
100% agree
I've got the same issue on stream before. It's not a real bug in the game but an issue from speedup. I'm 99% sure on that. Never happens if played on 60 FPS.
lost 10 hours of progress because of this and dropped the game completely. what a shame
LETS GOOOOOO, this is one of my fav PS1 game of all time
After the gym Talk to the guys at the left side next to gargomon in the item/weapon/accessory shop in Asuka city N don’t forget to go underground n into the auction house.
I think the accessories can only be gotten from the black market. They expensive btw. N u only get a certain amount of time b4 they change inventory n then your out of luck.
Surprise attacks or ambushes start w. U at rookie.
Ur able to get all other digimon from the other teams by beating their evolution lines. U can even get veemon.
💙
Ur right/on the right track. U need to b in a form in order to get exp/levels. Except for rookies they get exp no matter what.
took me long enough to figure this out!
Maybe it’s Divermon flavored water. Lol
💙
Wish they would port this to PS5, it has some lovely atmospheric music and some really cute sprite animation. I try to replay it every year.
It sure does! I wonder how this game would work with the 2.5D treatment that seems to be so popular these days...
3 of the same digimon makes them digivolve in the card game.
I think if u don’t buy the mega cards right now later on they will not be there. Might be wrong btw.
good to know, similar thing I guess happens with the auctions It's weird how little card battling there's been after these early episodes. Basically haven't encountered anything and I've even made it all the way to west sector. It's all been trainer battles...
Since you bring out a digimon during with the card that lets u look through ur deck if it’s a champion it will usually pay for itself since u will need one number/type/color to summon it. Higher level dig On like ultimates or metas need more stock energy of their element/color Idk if I’m explaining it right Sorry if I’m not. 🤷🏽♂️
makes sense! I think I ended up at a similar conclusion after going through a few more rounds of deckbuilding.
U have to defeat bug type digimon I think it was kunemon w. Silk thread or something like that to help w. The fishing pole. For the string part
U have to pick one or two colors/types. Basically “specialize”. I love blue/water types Lol
U need to go into your menu n manually set the digivolution u want to start w. Every battle for each digimon otherwise u start out as a rookie every time/battle
it ended up taking me awhile to realize this lol
Most ppl tend to focus on one/two types/colors/elements. That way u can get the prerequisites for stronger digimon
I always took it as sword art online but instead of the head set the company needs u in the pod so u can get sensations and stimuli. I also don’t think they could have thought about var headsets that far back. Lol
Kinda like the sensory deprivation tanks ppl use to connect to the universe or to unwind/disconnect from the world.
Oh that's right, I guess I forgot it showed Junior + friends going into the pod at the beginning. I guess what threw me off is that you go into the pod and then the pod starts moving like it's taking you to somewhere else.
I don’t think Digimon do the nasty to make eggs. Eggs just appear in the city of beginnings just bc. But then there’s the one episode of Digimon ghost game where one Digimon becomes intimate w. A boy. Oh n let’s not forget the Digimon embodiment of Lust Lilithmon. Is she the only who gets horny bc she represents that feeling? lol
