Sean In Alaska
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 พ.ย. 2018
Hello! and welcome!
My name is Sean and I am building a cabin and a life in the most beautiful place on earth, Alaska!
In the past year I fell the trees i needed, then cut in a driveway on my 1.4 acres of land. I followed this up by moving onto the property full time in a 5th wheel trailer, just before winter set in, and began living completely off grid for the first time in my life!
I heat and cook with propane, I run what little power I use off of a generator and a single 12 volt deep cycle marine battery and use an outhouse for the "important needs" future projects include solar, a well, garden and livestock, basically, I am just getting started on this adventure!
If you think you may want to try the lifestyle I am aiming for, I invite you to subscribe and join me in this adventure. The cabin build starts as soon as the snow melts and I plan on making as many mistakes as possible, so you don't have to!
Thanks for stopping by!

Building a stone accent wall for the woodstove
I am in a race to beat the cold of yet another Alaskan winter!
In order to win this race I need to get the woodstove installed, but before that, I need to start Building a stone accent wall for the woodstove!
I am a complete novice builder who grew up in sunny California and thought it would be an awesome idea to build my own off grid cabin on raw land in Alaska...what could go wrong?
I have never built a thing in my life so why not a house? OH! and I can live in a trailer while I do it....and work full time! Did I mention that I am out of shape, over weight and 60? What could go wrong?

Kitchen upgrade and comfort food
มุมมอง 6Kวันที่ผ่านมา
The change in weather and the lower temps this week have me opting for an indoor project, more specifically, a kitchen upgrade and comfort food! I have had this sink sitting on my living room floor for months and it is time to get it out of the way, what better way to do so than to install the darn thing in its final location? While I am at it, I am fixing up a batch of beans that will feed me ...

Getting ready for the first snowfall of the season in Alaska
มุมมอง 19K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
I am getting back into the swing of things this week by getting the property ready for the first snowfall of the season in Alaska. I have a great deal of cleanup to get done and a rather short window to accomplish it. Logs need to be moved, the tent needs to be taken down and I need to get the ground cleaned up before I have to use the snow blower! Oh, and I picked up a new appliance too! I am ...

I am a complete novice builder who grew up in sunny California and thought it w...
Building an off grid power wall in the Alaska cabin
มุมมอง 3.9K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
While I am on the mend I need to keep busy or I will go insane. I have a few additions coming up to make life easier and, since there is little heavy lifting involved, I am Building an off grid power wall in the Alaska cabin. Electricity has always been something I am not comfortable with but I think I have everything I need to do this and the build seems rather straight forward. I am a complet...

I am ok. This was not the video I was planning on making, but...life had other plans. I will discuss what happened to me and how a Medical emergency and being off grid can make it worse and then we will get to the first batch of sourdough baked in the Alaska cabin! Sean, I have watched all your videos for the past couple of weeks and enjoy your build. I have built my cabin for the past four years in Newfoundland.
You are in a beautiful area! And thank you so much for the views! This has been a blast to do!
The stone is looking great. Your so close to your first fire. The wood stove all nice and warm would make me wanna take a nap. Happy Thanksgiving. Stay safe
Damn missed your live. I went to see Wicked! Highly suggest unless you hate musicals lol have a great week.
AWESOME stone wall for your fire Sean. I'm liking it big time, Sir. 🇦🇺🤗💞🙏👍👌✌️👏✝️🇺🇸

Farewell dream of large women
Hey Sean hope things are going well happy Turkey day.
Watching helps me not miss Funny River. Fantasy is not reality. We had a real tough life on Lake/LeAnne Rd 1995-2003. There are some real not cool people out there..be careful.
I have surrounded myself with good, honest folks! I do not tolerate the other kind at all.

Lovely ..will be good n warm!!😮😂❤
Beautiful tile
Could cut open doorway in pantry to access dead space in corner. Could store batteries, hot water heater or even a fire safe
Stone is beautiful❤
Good job on the brick work there Sean im hopless at that my father tried to teach me but im a lefty and hard to do my Dad was a bricklayer i know that is like tiles but you know what i mean !
I love watching a brick Mason work! They make it look effortless.
Looking beautiful, as a very amateur tile guy , I use a hand grinder for pretty much every cut , the curve around the pipe no problem, can’t wait to see it finished with the stove cooking
I don't have a hand grinder...maybe need to invest in one though...
I really love the fact that you work and talk. I can say how crazy it is so many peoples videos are talking about what they are going to do then showing you after its done. Well done my friend ! Sometimes its good to add some butter to the back of the stone just a little
I thought about back buttering the stone, but it was pretty uneven and my trowel skills are lacking hahhahhhaha.
Love the stone! Things are coming together nicely!!
They really are! Thanks Kim!
Nice start on the stone. Great video.
Thank you!!
...wiII you Iook at that!!! Sean, you exceed whatever you do :)
Hahhaha! Thanks!!
That’s nice looking with the stone. Nice job. The ride was beautiful too. We’re dry and in the 70s here in central Texas.
Thank you 😊
Awesome job on the wall stone. Looking good indeed. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Kevin!!
Hey Sean.. really love the wall.. we had our first snow of the season.. it melted.. lol.. but yours looks pretty.. have a nice weekend..🩷☮️
I think most of the northern folks Will see snow this week lol! And thank you Yvonne!
That stone is beautiful!!! Love the colors !!!’ So warm and inviting !!!!
Really like the slate you chose! It's quite beautiful 😊
Thanks! I love the look!
Love the stone. I can’t wait to see it up.
Nice job!!
Thank you!!
That is awesome.
Hello Sean: super job, love how you learn as you go on or do it. The wall is coming out super and it looks well done. The top piece is easy get a piece of card board and make a tile size, cut out with a knife trace to the slate and cut with your grinder cemment disc you will do fine just take your time, I know you can do it.
That is a great tip Phil! Thank you so much!!
Yes! I have been patiently waiting for this to go up!! It looks beautiful Sean!!
Thank you Jill!!!
I LOVE the stone wall. Gorgeous!
Thank you so much!!
