Led by Pops Fernandez, Filipino artists under Star Records have come together to perform the Christmas hit "Sa Araw ng Pasko", which was released in the holiday season of 1997. The song was written by Vehnee Saturno, who also penned Filipino Christmas tunes such as "Pasko Para sa Lahat" featuring OctoArts International artists in 1990. The song expresses Filipinos' love for the Christmas holiday, and the lyrics make those from abroad miss being home.
A Christmas music album and compilation album of the same title came out a year later in October 1998, under Star Records. The album is composed of 13 tracks, which contained the titular song itself, eight original songs performed by most of Star Records’ artists, and four cover songs.
While the album had initially sold over 20,000 copies on its first week of release, which gives it a gold certification from Star Records, it eventually became a best-seller in excess of 40,000 units sales by 13 December 1998, thus earning it a platinum certification.
