Ohio Searcher
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 เม.ย. 2014
First and foremost, I strive to educate others on local history with each item I find.
Ohio Searcher is a river treasure / metal detecting / bottle digging channel. I have 9 years experience metal detecting. Metal detecting leads to bottle digging, bottle digging leads to river treasure hunting. I'm by no means an expert at any of the above, but I have had my share of success.
One day at a second hand store, I purchased an old 1970s metal detector just out of curiosity. It actually worked and I've been searching ever since.
I hope you enjoy my content and happy hunting.

Hi , I grew up less than a mile from that location. I could probably bet you money that those marbles are from my 4 older brothers shooting marbles at the river with their slingshots.
That was one of my main theories as to how they got there. I always write that when people ask me how they got their. Thanks for sharing the story, and watching!
I guessed it!🦈🦷 Nice case!❤
I know I will never find one like that that myself, so I tought I would treat myself. Thanks for watching, and happy hunting!
Where did all the marbles come from?
Before municipal trash collection, people just dumped their garbage over the hill or in the river. Akron was the marble production capital of the world during the golden age of marbles. Many marbles were tossed out in the trash. On top of that, in those days, kids use to like slingshoting them in the river seeing them skip to the other side or make a great splash. What would make a better projectil for a slingshot other than a marble? Those are my main theories. Thanks for watching, and the comment!
You guys found a ton of cool stuff!!! great video!
Thanks, the Cuyahoga River will never run out of junk. Happy Hunting!
About those blank discs…..years ago there was a stamping plant by the RR tracks that used to punch out this blanks for manufacturing. We would find boxes of them down there. This was back in the 70s. Throwing things in the river, such as these blanks and those un-fired rounds as well as other trash was a common practice. You will find more as the bottom churns. Nice hunt.
Thanks for the info, I really do appreciate it. Next time I feature the disks I find, I will have to update everyone on where they came from. I'm glad it wasn't someone thwarting the local metal detectorists. Thanks for commenting!
I really enjoy your videos.
I'm glad you like the content. I'll keep trying to keep them coming. Thanks for watching, and your comment!
Very cool 😎✌️video. Fun to see you two one-upping one another. Such an array of history found and a great selection of marbles found. Hope the River was not too cold 🥶⁉️🌀🌀🌀
I always seem to walk away with a small antique marble collection. Very peaceful. Thanks for the comment, and Happy Hunting!
Nice finds ⚱️
Thanks for watching, and the comment! Happy Hunting!
Nice family hunt!
Thank you, I've been busy at work and have a backup of 4 videos in editing. Hoping to get them out over the next few weeks. Happy Hunting!
Be sure to put a black light on those marbles. Some of them are probably Uranium glass. 😊
Not in this batch, but I know what you mean. From all my river adventures I've managed to find a small handful that glow under the UV. Thanks for watching, happy hunting!
That aqua Mason lid might be uranium glass, you should put it under UV and see if it glows and while you are at it put your marbles under the UV too.
I checked with my uv light just to be sure, not uranium, just a very rich aqua color. As for the marbles, one of my earlier videos featured a uranium marble under my black light. I haven't found many, just a handful. Thanks for watching, and happy hunting!
Ah, okay, always good to check, i find uranium glass shards on the beach from time to time in duluth.
Tumble with egg shells is your best bet. I’d love to meet up with you someday! I’m about 25 minutes away. Be a cool colab!
Never heard of using egg shells. I'll have to try that. I got to get a tumbler first. The Jar Doctor online has some tumbling machines, or maybe I can make one. If you spend any amount of time in the Cuyahoga river, we're bound to cross paths. Thanks for watching and happy hunting!
Need a metal detector and get something of value like gold
I do metal detect and have some videos. The last video I made was about vashing in my gold. Thanks for watching, and the comment!
send the zippo to Pa. They will fix it free and sent it back.
That's a great idea, I have a few more I found in the river. I'll send them all. It might make a great video to record the process. Thanks for watching, and your comment!
@@ohiosearcher8086 yeah, I agree.
Why are there marbles in a river
The Akron area was the marble capital of the world during the golden age of marbles. In those days before public trash collection, people just dumped their garbage over the hill or in the river. Many marbles were thrown out with the trash and ended up in the river. Back then kids use to enjoy shooting the marbles with their slingshots into the river as it would make a great splash or skip across the river. Thanks for watching, anf the comment!
That’s a neat river full of treasure. It looks like the crawdads rule the roost.
Crawdads prepared correctly, an almost unlimited source of food. They are all huge, I rarely see small ones. Thanks for watching, and the comment.
That blue and yellow marble is nice!
My favorite!
Now this is a legit guy❤
Thank you, when I detect, I like to illustrate the true monotony of metal detecting. It make finding the gold and silver all the more special. Thanks for watching, and happy hunting!
Nice hunt..why do you metal detect at night only?
Good question, the day time is all family time, at night is my time, so on vacation I sleep about 4 hours a day. What a vacation. Thanks for watching, and the comment!
Very cool finds. MIracle that the spittoon survived that long. The Swiss flag portrays the Christian Cross, not a plus. But it is confusing to we Americans who are accustomed to the elongated cross.
Yes, I do belive that the swiss flag is Christian bases. Thanks for watching, and the comment!
Is most of the Cuyahoga in Summit county that shallow? I wanna get out one of these days.
It's between 2 and 6 feet in most areas most of the time. During the rainy months, the water is high with low visability. The best time to be in the river is the end of August, begining of Setpember. Thanks for watching, and Happy Hunting!
That was a great hunt. Nice work there! I love how you dig everything and then show the trash vs. treasure...a truth people sometimes don't realize.
Indeed, I wish I found some gold this time, but I had a blast. Thanks for watching, Happy Hunting!
Never ever let them give a SCRAP Price !! Gold is gold .
Thanks for your concern. The price was consistent with othe buyers during the time frame I was selling. I wish I knew of a better place to cell. If you got a good guy, that's awsome.
@@ohiosearcher8086 I do understand But sometimes people need to break the monopoly so they are not the ones with the buying power.
@@DigginLouisiana There will be a next time, thanks again for the advice. Happy Hunting!

Freakin Awesome
I would never spend my regular money on something like that, but since it's detecting money, I decided to splurge. Always wanted one, very happy with the purchase. As always, thanks again for watching!
Very cool tooth. You forgot to mention one of the other things to look for, which would be has the tooth been restored in any way.
Thanks for watching. I mention restored teeth at the end while going over the guarantee from the seller. Happy Hunting.
Cool. I missed that part. I live in NE Ohio - Lakewood - we got hit by tornadoes, and I was one of the ones who lost their electricity, so the video cut out before I got to watch the rest of it lol. Our internet has been throttling for days. I'd love to add one of those Megaladon teeth to my collection. Happy hunting to you, too. You found some pretty cool stuff out there it looks like 👍
Horrible storm dumped alot of water. Rivers were way up. Should make for good river searching. Thanks again for commenting.
Exactly what I would have gotten . Good for you !
Now I need to figure out what to do with the rest of the money. Metal detecting and river searching is a very rewarding hobby. Thanks for watching my video!
That's sweet!!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Maybe one day I can find one myself. I'll have to get a scuba certification. Happy Hunting!
Nice tooth🦈
Indeed!
Beautiful specimen.
Thank you, one day I hope to charter a dive and find one myself. Thanks for watching, and your comment!

Did you release the live lightening welk and the starfish?
@@mbh0422 absolutely! Catch and release. Thanks for watching!
Love metal detecting. I call it relic hunting. I live in central Virginia. I’ve found vast amounts of Civil War Relics. I’m 64 , I’ve been hunting since 12-13 years old . Started with a Double Eagle metal detector. Then changed to Nautilus Metal Detectors. The Nautilus DMC 1 is my all time favorite metal detector. Found thousands of Civil War bullets. Couple hundred buttons. Quite a few belt buckles and accoutrement plates. My prize was a Georgia State seal. Two CS tongues from the two pieces tongue and wreath. Couple wish bone buckles Many US Buckles, US box plates. Eagle Shoulder belt plates. Plus coins and plenty of miscellaneous stuff. I found two swords 🗡️ buried together were they were dropped. Plus I found everything in between. Plenty of nice coins. My best was 1854 twenty dollar gold piece. Corp badges .
You have lived the dream. You remind me of Aquachigger, the channel that inspired me to search and detect. Virginia is prime location for treasure and relic hunting. Thanks for watching, and sharing your experience.

All the foreign coins made me think of the Olympics 😊
Odd to find so many different coins. Metal detecting is like that sometimes. Happy Hunting!
That is a lighter leash, the plastic piece that you slip your Bic lghter in is missing
That makes sense given the subject matter. Thanks for watching, and the comment!
How did you get these so clean? I’ve been struggling to clean the bottles/glass I find in the river
Mister clean magic eraser is best. I make my own tools out of hangers with a little bit of scotchbrit pads on the end. Some scotchbrit might be to abrasive so be carful. If your all in you can use a bottle turning drum with small bits of copper. Checkout jar doctor online. Happy Hunting!
It was nice to see your family with you on this adventure!❤
Thank you, they had a blast.
The ten panels, is actually called a mug based bottle and your right, that was a great day bottle hunting. Thanks
@@bruceritchie4382 Thank you, and happy hunting!
Found some really sweet bottles in that same stretch of river this am. Filled an entire back pack with embossed meds, milks, and apothecary bottles. My youngest boy even found 3 sweet marbles. Water is down way way low right now

Nice. Great way to think about the 1963 dime
Yes, better times in our history, but much hope for the future.
Don't try this in a MetroPark.. $250.00 fine and 30 days in jail.
That's solid advice!
It's heron not herring 😂😂. Great blue herons

Great video!! Exciting finds.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed my video. Happy Hunting!
You were definitely the winner by spending the day with your wife and kids, out in the river!!!
