JOKER: Masculinity in Crisis
This film looks at the reasons why the Joker film (2019, Joaquin Phoenix, directed by Todd Phillips) was so controversial, and the many lonely and depressed men around the world who find solace in the character.

Was It All In Patrick Bateman’s Head? American Psycho and The One Thing Everyone Missed

One of my favourite books of all time is American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. Since the release of the film over twenty years ago, the character of Patrick Bateman has become something of a mythical figure. Did he really kill anyone? Is it all in his head? I'm here to answer some of the questions, and show you why Patrick Bateman isn't even the worst person in the film.

There has been a lot of cynical marketing around the new Olivia Wilde movie, Don't Worry Darling, and it's caused some controversy. One of the things Olivia did to create some talk around her film is to mischaracterise renowned Canadian philosopher Jordan Peterson. Why did she do this, and why is there so much hate for him in the mainstream?

My ex fiancé once threatened me with a knife after I brought up that she wasn’t helping me much in keeping our home clean for I did everything after coming home late from work all while she would party with her friends. Her parents wouldn’t believe me and even cops wouldn’t do anything about it when I showed them video. I almost took my own life over this until I grabbed my things and moved out when she was out with her friends again.

My first girlfriend would was kind of physically abusive. I wouldn't say she ever beat on me or truly trued to cause serious harm but she would hit me in my testicles because she thought it was funny, after I told her to stop doing that numerous times, and she would also slap me in the face over very minor squabbles, usually if she felt like she was proven wrong. One time she slapped me in the face in front of a bunch of my friends, which was very humiliating. I will preface this by saying I should have acted in a much more mature way, and should've controlled my temper and had a talk with her later in private, but I did not. When she slapped me I raised my voice to her, I don't really remember what I said because it has been so many years but I do remember that I did not insult her nor did I try to embarass her. I believe it was something along the lines of just telling her to stop and that it wasn't okay. Anyways, she proceeded to get extremely emotional and start crying, prompting her friend to come over and berate me. (This was in highschool at lunch btw). I then had multiple people treat me as a villain and I had to be the one to apologize, in which for the rest of our relashionship she never let me forget it. Again, I should have reacting in a more mature and calmed way, but I suppose I was just tired of being humiliated and her thinking it was okay to do these things. Not necessarily justification but it's what so many men go through, being vilified for sticking up for themselves even though they are the victims

take this as you want, but I've once said "I know i should be the last person to be saying this, being a white American male, but I don't feel equal to others." because I really don't, I'm belittled by others all the time and teased all the time and I feel disgusting and not like a person, but I'm afraid of voicing an opinion like that because, well, of what I am and what the reputation of others before me has done to mine and other's image.

I was accused of hitting a girl after I turned down sex. Truth is she groped me and I pushed her away. I had people talk about me behind my back and even my life threatened by her dad. I got assaulted but I should have wanted it I guess. I was never abused because I didn’t let her. But I was constantly berated and even told “you will never be loved”. I dated a girl for about five months, and she wasn't physically abusive, but very mentally abusive (with the occasional s**ual abuse). Anytime I wasn't with her (whether I'd be with family, friends, or doing my own thing), she'd constantly blow up my phone with messages about how much she missed me (which was kinda cute, but irritating). Whenever I'd tell her I needed to leave, she'd guilt trip me about not being there. However, I wouldn't allow her to thrash me, because that's not who I am. I would instead fight back, and tell her about how unreasonable she was being. She would also threaten to leave me if I ever got mad at her for something she did (she would screw up, I'd call her out, and she'd paint herself as the victim). As far as the s**ual abuse went, she would constantly force me to s*xt with her (even if I didn't want to), and had me touch her inappropriately even though I was uncomfortable (for the sake of not getting in trouble, I won't say it, but I felt like an animal). I was unwell. My eating became bad (I wouldn't eat during the week when around her, and then stuff my face full of food on the weekends), my grades were dipping, and I had no time to myself. Long story short, it was really bad, and I tried to get out several times. I finally got out, and I had learned that, because I was very busy, she had cheated on me with a friend of mine behind my back for three months, and once I ended it, she had one less guy to use as a toy, and used my friend as a rebound (they didn't last long). She tried to get me back by flirting with my other friends and classmates (which didn't work, because I was doing much better without her), and she finally threw in the towel after like three months of trying to get me back. It's been almost two and a half years, and I myself have been doing much better mentally, posting content on TH-cam, and trying to be a better guy. I've been asked about this occasionally, but I always talk about this experience now as a learning opportunity. I don't wish my pain on anyone else, but I don't wish it to go away either. I know what to do now in a situation like this, and that's all that matters.

As someone who had a lunatic girlfriend in highschool (wasn’t allowed to talk at ALL with other girls) I agree, it does become war. Later I hatched a plan and in one fell swoop, I broke her. At first the whole grade shunned me. It was when I was able to find who really was my friend. I tried to defend myself at first and was met with the “you couldn’t have just stayed with her to avoid this?”. Eventually she moved on and was even worse with another guy, leading to a restraining order. At that point everyone was shocked that I wasn’t lying in the first place.

I used to think Woody was innocent for many years but you need to do some more research. Start by watching Allen V Farrow. Listen to the taped calls between he and Mia. Especially the one where she says you hurt her, how can you live with yourself etc. it will bring tears to your eyes, it wasn’t fake. All of the nannies and tutors around her said she was actually hoping the charges weren’t true and kept checking with Dylan to make sure she was sticking by her story before they went forward. She knew this would destroy her career and their lives in many ways. She didn’t want it to be true and she didn’t coach her for it to be True. Also consider the fact that the award-winning caseworker from New York believed Dylan and wanted to prosecute, but was fired when he wouldn’t shut up about it because the mayor was calling them telling them to let it go. Also consider the fact that the Yale group who investigated him and interview Dylan had their contemporaneous notes destroyed, which is never done. Why would you destroy evidence like that unless there’s something important to hide? The same guy in New York who was fired was communicating with them during this time and it’s in his notes that they told him they believed Dylan as well. And don’t forget to consider the fact that Woody changed his story about ever being in that attic once they found his hair and skin cells up there. Is that odd to anyone? And don’t forget he wouldn’t take a paragraph provided by law enforcement, but only one his legal team arranged. If it was my daughter and I was innocent, I’d take any damned polygraph test they wanted to give me. Just keep doing research and your common sense will eventually tell you he did it. I take no pleasure in saying that as I was a huge fan of his films, but the truth has become quite evident.

Pronouns chosen the way they are, because my partner identified as female during some of the incidents, in some non-Binary and now after it all male: I had a partner that built me up. They were trying to better me, make me realise the ways in which I sabotaged myself. They comforted me when I struggled and I comforted them when they struggled. But they also tried to isolate me. They told me my friends and acquaintances showed subtle signs of discomfort when I did certain things. Things only they could notice, because they had way more experience than me and because I have certain neurodivergent traits that make it harder (not impossible) for me to read people. We argued often, mostly because I got very still and silent, when something happened I couldn't deal with. That made them very upset and caused me to shut in even further. When I "stonewalled" them, they would barely try to get through and immediately go to blaming me for the entire argument. They would then storm off, angry and awaiting me, to come and figure out what exactly it was they were upset about, without them giving me any clue. They tried to mold me to their liking, tried to make me into somebody I couldn't be and make me dependent on them. I don't know how much of it was intentional, or "subconscious" behavior caused by their own traumatic experiences, but I got emotionally abused in that relationship. Even after finally ending it and realising what had happened to me with the help of friends, they still tried the same thing twice more. Telling me how I was making other people uncomfortable, without anybody but them noticing or telling me. I loved that person and they actually helped me figure things out about myself. They moved me forward in life and gave me hope and strength. But as the relationship went on, those positive moments became less and less frequent. It was toxic for both of us and while I tried my best, I bet there were also moments when I could have done better. In the end, cutting that relationship off was the best choice I could make. Edit: I completely disagree with your take on the Depp V Heard case, but abuse of males by females should still be taken seriously.

At least for some women, this is true. I don't think your traditionalist, ultra-religious Christian woman is going to be seeking out gang members. I still remember when I was on the comments section of a clip of Amon Goeth beating the shit out of his...IDK, his personal slave, a Jewish woman, and some chick was like "I'm sorry but he's hot." Some people have weird ass fantasies. Which is fine; I have an issue with it when they start to let it affect their perceptions of actual events or, worse, influence their own actions to others' detriments. I would say that usually submission fantasies are less harmful, but it can get bad when people project such fantasies onto others, and yeah, people do that.
